About voting system It had been obvious that we vote for someone in survival shows. People can vote to anyone they want for any kind of reasons. But since Girls Planet and Universe Ticket, the gap between Korean and foreign picks have started to get wider dramatically. So programs started to have a ratio between Korean and foreign votes. One of the reason foreign pick is getting different from Korean pick is that there are many people voting for their nationality contestant. And in I-land2, Lingling was the only Malaysian, only foreigner excluding Japanese. There were support system during the show, Lingling had always been 2nd contestant to receive it. Thinking of Jeemin being always the first one, which is obvious of her popularity from the previous survival show, Lingling seem to be the one who has a big fandom to vote for.

Yui was a candidate for almost every spot (based on the hints) and every time she wasn’t called you could see her get crushed that bit more😭 seeing her standing all on her own so scared was killing me as a Yui bias… still wish we could’ve seen her perform more but sounds like she might be debuting after all~

Let's just say during the show, I was unaware of Malaysia's game. They showed up and showed out for Lingling's fancams and views. She was super popular and I was so shocked she didn't make it.

I learned this term "baby pick" from a Korean Youtuber who had a deep connection with the Kpop industry. Basically Korean tend to have a soft spot for baby-like contestant and Gyuri fit that image perfectly. Even though Um Jiwon is the youngest, her image is far from that. I also learned that at the time this episode was on air, Gyuri had a relatively smaller fanbase compared with the others but mainly composed of Korean and it was solid and dedicated.

Regarding Fuko mentioning her level 6 of Korean. Level six is the highest of Topik test (an exam to rate your Korean). It is like C1/C2 level of English. C1 is level of a native speaker and C2 is level of educated/“smart” native speaker.

Well the voting for this round was pick 6. Lingling had a strong 1 pick fan base, but she wasn't getting any filler votes. Meanwhile girls like Juwon, Gyuri, Yui, Yeeun were getting those votes. Plus Koreans weren't voting for Lingling which hurt her total point score. This is similar to Bahiyyih in GP999, where in the round before the final she was 13th, and the elimination before that she was K8, barely beating Doah by 8804 points. When it came time for her 1 picks to shine, she ended up 2nd. This is why Xiaoting and Yurina slid so far in the finale. A lot of their votes were filler votes.
