Okay sorry for the long post but I really believe tripleS’ discography is a no skip and I’m always so curious on why I love their songs so much. I know the production played a huge part of it in the beginning, starting with AAA, A10 and KRE but now just hearing their growth as singers and seeing their growth as dancers and overall idols gets me so excited in general. The tripleS-ness of all their music is so cohesive it’s crazy. My mind is all over the place but here’s an attempt to make my thoughts about this album cohesive lololol Quick general take aways from this ASSEMBLE25 album for me : - Wow they all got better as singers - The distribution of lines in each song here is pretty damn great - Dahyun, Jiwoo and ShiOn are obvious powerhouses (glad ShiOn get’s a lot more here too) and even though we already knew Kaede was an amazing singer too, she’s given so much to do and she flexes how hard she’s been working on her vocals, a total stand out. Hayeon, Joobin also providing some major lifting in these songs! - Vocal Tone wise always been obsessed with Seoyeon, Naky, Yooyeon, Sohyun but Jiyeon and Mayu reaaaaally make a strong impression in this album and I’m so happy. - SeoAh might be one of the most stable and full voiced Maknaes i’ve witnessed, everytime she sings I feel like she has really good support - (Honestly i gotta stop here or else i can say something positive about all 24 but truly some awesome growth from all members) - The production is spectacular, loving the drum patterns and the heavy R&B / Electric inspos here - CAN WE APPRECIATE THAT ALL THE SONGS ARE OVER 3MINS? Giving us some great bridges -The ShiOn to Dahyun / vice versa vocal hand offs in a few of the songs are strong. High notes be high noting @% (Alpha Percent) - honestly love this intro especially because they sampled the original tripleS thesis teaser thing (https://youtu.be/TVrdkrqpBV4?si=Fyrq33BXQvFXFxer) - Again with a similar electric guitar sound as A24’s intro, signalling more of a continuation/sequel than a new concept Are You Alive - *Refer to my long ass comment in the MV reaction LOL Detective Soseol - this gives me colorful + heart raider + choom vibes and I LOVE it, this sounds like KPOPPY KPOP that I love but more refined - I was surprised this was the B-Side they chose to promote on the live shows but after seeing the stages I see why. It’s such a bright energy to contrast AYA and I love the way it showcases other members especially SULLIN!!! - The drum pattern and sharp snare is great and the transitions in this song are so fun! Can’t help but wanna run in a field and smile and that always is an A+ for me - Also love how the name of this song is a companion to VV’s Love Soseol Firework Diary - This became my favorite b-side on this album after a couple listens - If you wanna talk about switch ups and transitions in a song OH BOY the second verse till the end has me TRANSCENDING - The R&B vibes and vocals start coming in HEAVY in this track and it’s more fuel for my constant ask of “tripleS R&B UNIT PLS” (idk i see some of the older members forming a unit akin to WJSN Black) - Again the members vocals in this show their growth, Kaede especially is a stand out - The “Um Ah’s” are catchy af - Hyerin mention in the lyrics and also the WAV, Signal, “whole 24” mentions are always fun references to themselves - Have I mentioned how great their production has been? Man this song scratches my brain in the right way - Another amazing bridge, and until the end is just so tasty Love Child - THE WORLD IS FULL OF LOVE AND I DESERVE IT ALL 😭😭😭😭 - What a beautiful song - Lovely display of vocals along with production that showcases some softness but still a driving beat - The way they drag out the words (meolla? and such) after the “love pop pop pop” parts is such a nice texture change in the song - Gets me in my feels Persona - UH OH another Park SoHyun bangerrrr! - Gives me a “getting ready for a girls night out” kinda vibe. - Love the percussion and brass in the production for this song and the damn WHISTLE is a nice catchy touch Too Hot - IT’S FINALLY HERE!! - and it was worth the wait… a contender for the ASSEMBLE24 Title Track I was in love with it then and always thought it would be a great summer TT or maybe a japanese TT based off the demo but man am I glad it’s here - I know I said Firework Diary was my fave bside but IDK MAN - Great SYNTH and drum sounds and work here - Man that prechorus - chorus “Baby, 'cause I'm too hot to stop (hangye jeo meolli) Three, two, one, go (No one to catch me) Teok kkeutkkaji chaoreuneun hangye deo meolli Oh, oh (Too hot to stop) is is so catchy!!! I love the call and response/back and forth feel - BUT THE 2ND HALF OF THE CHORUS makes me wanna cry (the demo had the english lyrics “im super stunning—-) but the korean “Meomchuji aneullae Just hold my hand” idk but the melody for it or something makes me feel things… - Yeah I love this song - Side note : LIT POP was a contender for A25 but unfortunately is not on the album and I feel like its now in the position Too Hot was in lmao if we have to wait a year hfjdksks Diablo - Contender for A25 TT but voted to have it on this album as a bside! (Sorry yall love this song but I voted for Litpop haha) - I know a lot of people love this song, I do think it would be a great Title Track but for a unit rather than OT24 imo - Beautiful intro and play on the lalalas - Awesome vocals right off the bat and through out the song. Really like what they get to work with in the topline - “Honestly honestly” part is fire - Kotone’s tone is so great and her part her is very memorable - This song makes me picture long exposure shots of car lights zooming past in the night on a busy street, idk if that helps but thats the feeling it gives me and I like it - Again the prechorus to chorus here must have cocaine in it or something, its so catchy - call me call me darling goes hard - Idk why but I would put Diablo and Persona in the same category but Diablo is the darker more mature, slightly edgier twin. - Also reminds me of WJSN Black Friendzone - R&B LETS GO - Earlier I said an R&B unit. If Firework Diary gave me WJSN Black vibes, then Friendzone gives me Red Velvet - UNDERWATER vibes with the vocals - But WOW this chorus and the soft R&B vibes really are top tier in my books. - MODHAUS has to give us a vocal performance video with all of them sitting in chairs of different heights, spread out in levels, you know what I’m talking about… - Chaeyeon I love you - Idk i love everything about this song and the way it ends too *chef’s kiss* - Very much a classic RNB feel, emulating acapella with the doo doo harmonies - Reminds me of something Destiny’s Child or FLO would do as a live or something Love2Love - CONCERT BANGERRRRR - Admittedly, there is no replacing COLORFUL as the tripleS concert encore song but I think you gotta bump just 1 song to 2 cuz Love2Love was made for a live concert performance ending celebration - The creeping muffled percussion/snare along with the great melody in the pre chorus ending in an anti drop and then finally going off is tooooo much for my heart - I can just so clearly see them running around stage performing this and having slightly choreographed parts for the verses - WE’LL NEVER BREAK YOUR HEART WE’LL FOREVER TRY - WE LOVE TO LOVE YOU HARD IJEN NEVER CRY - WE’LL NEVER BREAK YOUR HEART WE’LL FOREVER TRY - WE LOVE TO LOVE YOU HARD AND WE GO UP HIGH 😭😭😭 - Again fun references (generation/dimension) in the lyrics to themselves (cmon man its built for a concert) - Damn what a crazy breakdown haha Yubin’s vocals are so noticeable it adds such a nice texture to every song - A very fun song that has a slight older kpop sound! - This song has proven to me that nostalgia for the 2010s is real and is a phase that will be coming in FAST haha The sound on half of this album is very RNB AND HONESTLY REMINDS ME OF LATER FROMIS B SIDES but with a tripleS sound, I’m eating. It feels like they are experimenting with how far tripleS’ sound can go and how to tackle it differently and seeing what other avenues they can go down and I love that. also also - I trust MANGONIM's color coded lyrics if you ever wanna see the break down of who's singing what!

Vinícius Mandelli

tripleS’s music brings me so much joy and healing, this album specially is so emotional and deep, I really could not stop thinking about you during your recovery and how I wished you had this album to comfort and possibly heal you as well… So happy you’re finally able to listen to it

Alexandria T

Can I point out how much Dahyun's vocals in "Firework Diary" resembles Haechan from NCT? It freaked me out a bit as a fan of NCT and being used to Haechan's voice in NCT 127/NCT Dream. Like...I had to re-listen to the part multiple times to see if I wasn't just tripping. No, I wasn't tripping. It's after the "Just breathe in" part. It's so CRAZY. That aside, "Firework Diary" reminds me of Billlie. I read the comment before. Billlie's "EUNOIA". I don't mean entirely "EUNOIA", just some of it reminds me of the song.

Vinícius Mandelli

Also, you’re right. The Are You Alive MV was not directed by Undermood Film like their previous MVs, it was directed by amoramorsheep… and you can really tell

maseken

PS - I CANNOT wait for you to see these live stages and all the extra content, they’ve fed us well

Alexandria T

I'm not deep in the group, other than I have their albums on my computer and listened to them.

Handsome Hayeon Can't Hurt You

Also....all kpop albums suffer from this but the english translations of the korean titles are a little wack. It's not 'Detective Soseol' really....the title is '추리소설' so literally just Mystery Novel

Stephanie H

너와 함께하는 약속들 big note in Firework Diary was Dahyun 사랑도 가득해 in Love Child was Shion

Handsome Hayeon Can't Hurt You

This is a TOTALLY unrelated question but Im also a can head.....do you enjoy the 1770 pro? Im surprised you chose those to do all your recording and listening bc it has such a severe frequency response in the bass and treble. I have the 177x GO and I rarely use them when listening to kpop bc kpop songs already are pretty V or U shaped, it's kind of overkill. Just wondering.....

Otto

Detective Soseol performances made me tear the first time, don’t know why (same as non scale and colorful when they were released and watched their respective performances)

ditto

tripleS, in my opinion, truly just makes the best music in kpop for me right now. every time i go into a tripleS comeback blind because i don't want to know anything and it makes the listening experience better every time. tripleS is always doing something new and unique and i have never been disappointed from a tripleS release and i probably never will be. tripleS are one of my ults for a reason. anytime they come stateside i will find a way to be there because hearing them live is a truly heavenly experience. everyone who listens to kpop should listen to tripleS because if you don't you are truly missing out on some of the best work in the industry.

Handsome Hayeon Can't Hurt You

lol.....yeah, I figured what happened with Are You Alive would happen. The video is JARRING and initially made me not like the song as much as I do now (after just listening to it or watching stages). I, personally, still like the overall package of GND but you're correct in that AYA is much more subtle and experimental (it also has A LOT more crazy music theory going on which is important to me)

Handsome Hayeon Can't Hurt You

with Persona-written/composed/arranged by S14 Park Sohyun-it's very cool to listen to all the songs she has composing credits on (Persona, Black Soul Dress, White Soul Sneaker, Deja-Vu....she has writing only credits on a few ARTMS/OEC tracks and Beyond the Beyond and Diablo) and hear certain signature ticks being developed as a young writer/composer/arranger/producer while having a group of songs that all sound so different from each other. She's a TALENTED person and will be in the kpop industry LONG after her idol days are over if she chooses for sure

Handsome Hayeon Can't Hurt You

What I really appreciate about this album (the quality of the songs is literally just a given) is that MODHAUS is really unlocking that having 24 members is actually a gift. The producers have 24 instruments to play around with that are now starting really each develop their own unique style/character/etc in their voices. This album is really starting to nail down putting the RIGHT voice with the right part for each song (versus how kpop used to be in 2nd gen or 3rd gen where you had your main vocalists and then everyone else just sort of filled in). Now obviously the major comebacks will always have the popular members showcased more, but with the rest of the album's tracks this album (especially in comparison to Assemble24) just sounded "right" vocally. it's very cool to see developing in real time

Santiago Maldonado

TripleS is really that group. I really do not know how to fully explain it but I feel they are one of the only groups in current kpop that lean more to the artistic side than the corporate side and by all means it doesn't make sense because they produce so much more music than groups that feel more corporate but with the quality of groups that feel more artistic. Modhaus, Jaden Jeong and the members themselves are really something else

Liv

I’m always here for nuanced conversation! It feels like triple S still but Are You Alive feels like you’re saying, a sophisticated evolution, and I don’t think AYA necessarily elevated on the triple S brand, and yet it still has great moments and imagery, yes it’s supposed to be a bit more dreary, gritty like the lyrics but there was a lot of broll that felt unmotivated unlike GND in attachment to the lyrics—the best times in the MV are when they do connect to the lyrics and the I’m won over by the girls’ acting ! I still liked the music video but I didn’t obsess over and watch it back over and over like I did GND or Hit The Floor, where I felt there were GRIPPING creative decisions, I think this time just felt very loose concept on the story whereas there was a set VISION in GND; I find myself more moved by the live performance bc the choreo actually feels like it contains the dynamics of the song production well and it’s a VERY DYNAMIC SONG, and the members’ stage presence bring to life the SCALE of the song; I understand the mindset based on the lyrics in their approach to the MV but there are still parts that need to hit harder or deeper, the direction felt very minimal and contained, and this wasn’t the kind of song that can be contained, it has to feel larger than life

Artist37

Love2love is just one of those b-sides that makes you want to come back to an album for repeat listens, and the song I was waiting for this listening party for your reaction. I pray I get to see this performed live one day.

Liv

It’s still a journey but I’m glad to start to recognize more of the members’ voices this album! It felt like a puzzle for my brain lol but I especially loved the use of Mayu this album, her tone is so moving; in addition, I think we got a lot more moments for Nien and Xinyu to flex and other members as well and it’s a gift for my ears

Liv

SOHYUNS MIND UGH I’m obsessed with her musical sensibilities, and just her everything as well lol how can she have it ALL, a husky groovy voice, composition, lyrical prowess, producing, YOU WOULD THINK SHES JUST A VOCAL BUT NO SHES ALSO A CHARISMATIC DANCER, and on top of that her visual + personality A LADY KILLER SHE WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME I SWEAR 😭

Liv

I had to listen to this album multiple times bc there’s so much to digest, I feel like I blacked out on first listen, my brain just was intaking so much information with the switch ups also very Jadeon Jeong to lull you into a headspace that I become absorbed in the vibe and the sound just washed over me and I’m like WHAT JUST HAPPENED, also my brain is trying so hard to fill in the slots of which member it is actively going through everyone if I didn’t recognize right away lol; even after I felt like I didn’t digest something I would at least be haunted by the melodies several hours later finding myself humming! PLUS THE VERSES ARE SO DENSE AND DELICIOUS that I go back over for specific parts

Alexandria T

Ohh. I can hear WJSN Black's "Easy" sort of from "Firework Diary" now that you mention it. Only "Easy" sounds sexier. "Firework Diary" is more...bouncy and fun. BUT I can hear the similarity in a way. Some parts of "Firework Diary" do come across as sexy/flirty, whether it's intentional or not. That 'just breathe in' part sure was intentional. Have I read the lyrics? Like a few times, so I'm not sure of the context, but the song sounded flirty.

Syndra

SOHYUN BANG CHAN PERSONA. its her song. Its one of my favorite BSIDE Lyrics : Park Sohyun Composers : Park SoHyun, BADD, IKKI, NILD (MonoTree), Frankie Day (THE HUB), Awrii (THE HUB), HYUN Arranger : Park SoHyun, BADD

Alexandria T

Beyond the Beyond, Diablo, Black Soul Dress are the ones I can remember the most from that list (from listening to them the most). Bless Park Sohyun.

Syndra

TOO HOT was the song who lost to GIRLS NEVER DIE in the Assemble24 Finals GRAVITY.

Liv

Love2Love in the best way possible is VERY 2017-2018 (and then there was the twist of the breakdown, love it) but the throwback shocked me but also made me happy! It feels like a great last song at a concert I can see it now

Myhongo

Forgot where I read it, but the synths in Too Hot sample Into the New World, which I think tie in greatly with the lyrics and gives the song that 'inspirational' vibe you got from it :]

Syndra

While AYA won gravity as title track. Out of all the songs that didnt make it as title track we voted again for Bside and DIABLO won.

Alexandria T

It sounded like "Into The New World" sampled "Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears (an 80's song, the intro piano part). But I assumed "Too Hot" was sampling "Boys Of Summer" by Don Henley of The Eagles (another 80's song). I'm an amateur going by what I hear, so take that with a grain of salt. These are just assumptions made by someone who has no experience in music (me).

Alexandria T

Good. I really like "Diablo".

Otto

Watch this for fun PD: [Full Album] tripleS 'ASSEMBLE25' Music Visual https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3ZF4_hVs8g on your own time, maybe react to it, however/whenever you please, just give it 30mins of your time, you will enjoy it ^^

cthrn hffmnn

I know this is not the MV reaction but in relation to your rant about the MV - I loved the video for the exact reason that you point out as not your favorite 😭 I felt like girls never die both as a song and a video was so heroic and powerful in it's message, the visuals and the colors felt so artistic and beautiful which in return enhanced the songs message which was very uplifting and motivational (which was great while still showing the struggles the song was meant to represent). To me, are you alive is the ugly reality of what comes after GND. The color grading, the scenes, the locations, and the songs message are a lot darker and feel more raw than GND? If that makes sense. Like both songs are mirror images almost but GND is what you think if when you hear uplifting anthem but are you alive shows what's really happening and to me the mundane environment and "lack" of direction somehow worked in this scenario??? To me they really nailed the feeling of helplessness and emptiness that comes after "surviving", like you should feel grateful or feel like its a new beginning but in reality it's still the same world and life and *you* have to make the effort to change something and see the new path, despite not feeling alive. Im ranting but anyways, I definitely see your point with it being less "ambitious" than the previous videos and I can get the disappointment but to me from the first watch it felt perfect for the concept and the message and it might be my second favorite MV this year 😭 (artms came for the first place ofc)

han

well said

Kyle

I had the same reaction to Love2Love! It's definitely my most played song from the album. Takes me back to 2010's american pop.

Sven Lenders

I honestly think Love2Love is still my B-side of the year (maybe even SOTY). Can you imagine an MV at the beach and a choreography like Dance The Night Away? I would pay for that to come true

allo 🍓

going in blind here with u, havent heard the album on my own yet!

Travasicus

The realisation of how INSANE aya is makes me so happy, it’s their best tt hands down

day_spidey

Detective Soseol's live stages were so good to see the members all shine and I'd also recommend the it's live for AYA

Brandon B

I can’t believe how close Diablo was to becoming a title track. I’m happy are you alive won but Diablo would’ve been AMAZING as a title track

Aine

Something I recently found out - the lalala bit in AYA is a clip from a sample pack kpop producer Alina Smith sells! Obviously the members sing it in stages but that's actually Alina's voice (plus the rest of her producer team) on the recording. She's not in song credits only because it's a sample pack anyone can purchase and it's not necessary to give credit.

Aine

I understand trying new directors to keep innovating but ngl, I wish they keep to Undermood for ot24 releases and try other production teams for the subunits. IMO, it keeps the full group releases on a tighter narrative journey for me.

Aine

Yessss, another Love2Love appreciator!! It reminds me so much of the late 2000s/early 2010s American pop songs that I love - I heard someone say it makes them think of Kesha and Pitbull and I can totally hear it (especially Naky's first rap verse). Love2Love, Firework Diary, Persona, and Too Hot are my top favs from the album! Ngl, Too Hot was so good, I really wish they saved it for a summer subunit title track.

Form of Therapy

How do you feel about that? Do you think they should have held ‘Diablo’ or songs like ‘Bionic Power’ for a title or do you like that they just straight give it up and release it as a b side?

Aine

CAN'T YOU HEAR IT THO?? 😂

Form of Therapy

The day I think Nakyung sounds like PITBULL is the day I go to get my hearing and my brain checked

Brandon B

Honestly it’s 50/50 for me. As much as I LOVE those songs I believe everything happens for a reason and I’m happy they are included in the albums regardless

Of course there's Badge War S3 which has just finished. 4 eps, but there is also a short ep 0 that is pretty funny and a nice set up to the season. During the lead up to AYA promotion they had a fan concert and they just started uploading performances of that on the official tripleS youtube - it's where they debuted the 24 member Black Soul Dress (not sure if they'll upload that but there's New Look and 24 and GND vids up) Aside from a few different dance version videos and a dance practice, A lot of official content like MV bts and some other things that aren't technically branded as SIGNALS so im not sure if they will show up in the playlist you're watching from. The full group is also getting ready for ALIVE25 - concerts in Seoul and Tokyo The group got split into 2 halves and each had a different list of songs from other girl groups that they could cover and WAVS just finished a gravity vote to pick the songs! Unit A - will be performing SUPERSONIC by fromis_9 and Unit B will be performing I Can't Stop Me by TWICE! (Hopefully they post official videos but there will for sure be fancams)

sleepything

Also, they couldn't have held it because WAVs also voted for it to become part of the Bside tracks after it lost the title track vote.

Aine

That's why I choose to believe Lit Pop is being saved for a future title track 🤞🤞 (also, justice for Worldwide Women from round 1! I will wait patiently for that one to be released!)

Faro Aja

No. They're not trying working with new director. During AYA comeback Undermoodfilm already booked and overlapped for another project (NCT Wish).

jessie

I’m only a casual tripleS fan, I wish I could get into the members and lore but I can admit I don’t have the attention span for it😅 but I watch your reactions cos I love your passion for them and love seeing how much this patreon goes off for them too💜💜

Brandon B

Omg another Lit pop Lover!!!!!! That was my #1 pick

Alexandria T

I used the RaveDJ site to see if the "Boys Of Summer (instrumental) by Don Henley" goes with "Too Hot" and yes, it does (RaveDJ decided to play a joke and change the way "Too Hot" sounded by changing the key lower to match, which wasn't what I wanted, lol). I even listened to the instrumental of "Too Hot" and the producers didn't even try to hide it. They even kept the 'wispy' note from a part of "Boys Of Summer". It makes me like it more because I like "Boys of Summer". The main difference is the tempo is faster, akin to almost Drum & Bass, for "Too Hot". Also the key was changed ("Too Hot" sounds more 'happy', the original song sounds a little dark, which is ironically fitting for the video visual of the girls of tripleS dancing around a campfire at night given for "Too Hot" on the official channel for tripleS). Plus you have the bridge and other crazy stuff that makes it a tripleS song. You see yourself running with everything you have when you hear "Too Hot", not so much with "Boys of Summer". So, whatever producers made this knew what they were doing. It's like an upgraded dance-ified version of "Boys of Summer", could have easily been released in the early '00's in clubs. Yes, I'm aware there is a dance version of "Boys of Summer", but I'm not counting it. Sorry, DJ Sammy.

Jopo 56

24:48 blew my mind cuz my mind went directly to RED VELVET and F(x) in that order and then you just went ahead and literally read my mind 😂😂😂

Xen

To answer your question, Firework Diary: Shion sings the "Nan joa geureuke" and then shifts to Dahyun for the high notes. Their voices blended well, I can't tell if that line was pure Shion at first. Love Child: The part that you asked "Who is singing rn" is ShiOn! For me, her voice, Sohyun's, and Yubin's are the easiest ones to distinguish (I am still familiarizing myself with their voices)

Syndra

PD. ANOTHER MASTERPIECE BY SOHYUN. PERSONA.

Syndra

Top 1st Persona 2nd Diablo 3rd Love2Love 4th Too Hot 5th Detective Soseol 6th Firework Diary 7th Love Child 8th Are You Alive 9th Friendzone 10th @%

Courtney Bailey

love2love reminds me so much of we r who we r by kesha like something about the build up and the flow of the chorus. i don’t think i’m ready for 2010 nostalgia baiting— reminds me that i am aging 🥲 i always say tripleS make music for me specifically but too hot, love2love, and love child are just tailor-made for me.

Justin Lee

no one is talking about @%... they are shift2 and shift5 at your keyboard....

jepahjepah

honestly the title track was lowkey disappointing for me...so i was pleasantly surprised by the amazing album tracks like damn all of them are so good TvT

oneshot2489

Assemble 25 for me is the best album of this year. Especially since most other group releases are actually just 3 song eps most of the time. And I feel you are right. TripleS emotion that translates into the songs are the real x factor. New jeans had it in 4th Gen. And in 5th gen. TripleS is the best group as of now Always pushing boundaries. The girls. The production. The creative direction. Name a better group.

WiseSmellyLegs

Ah! Of course Persona is SoHyun's song!!
