I have a feeling Megan, Daniela, Yoonchae, Lara, Sophia and Manon might debut in this group. Don't know why, just a feeling. Also spoiler alert, the group will be named KATSEYE.

Still Into You performance is probably my favorite Mission performance. Purely out of talent the girls are all amazing vocalist and that harmony was just in a different level.

I think the fault lies with the fact that they probably got told during the audition that they were "looking for girls to debut in the first global HYBE girl group" thinking that if they got accepted, they would have been the best out of the millions of girls that auditioned, so on one side I get that people might have thought once they got in they would debut, but it indeed is a bit wishfull thinking (but HYBE didn't do a show for their earlier groups, so they must have thought it might have been a big risk to invest in such a show if it didn't appeal to the global audience, but it did in the end). So do I think they should have told them, yes or at least have made it clear that their debut wasn't guarenteed,

I love Hinari so much. She really is Katseye's biggest fan. She always attend their events whenever they are in Japan. Glad to know that most of the girsl still hangs out and remain friends after the show.

we definitely felt the same about all of the performances, this mission was really clear cut to me! i remember when sophia sold me @ 21:01 but the pure star quality and buttery voice from lara is always what i'll remember most strongly. nayoung has some other great vocal performances out there, i think she's a technical monster

i totally agree with you, PD... the public launch of the girls was so jarring for them. training with each other for a year ish then suddenly pitting them against one another? i felt sooo uncomfortable watching it. maybe the fact that Bang PD wanted to move up the debut date and left the dev team with no choice but i still think it could have been handled way better. nobody enjoys being part of a survival show... everybody walks out traumatised af...

I dont think anyone necessarily thought their debut was guaranteed. But Adela was always up in the top rankings pre survival show plus all the girls really loved her and praised her leadership and talent so I really feel for her. Going from being on top to being the first eliminated.. I really do understand her frustration in that phone call. It all worked out for the best though and I think Adela would agree considering how much creative input she's been able to have on her own solo career.

I do think not telling them was the right move. It might feel a little evil but they would have seen each other as competition and it would make the dynamic so weird in the final group. I also feel like when you get there and you're training with like 20 girls, you would automatically assume you're not confirmed to debut (survival show or not) and even though you're at the top through out, you're never safe until the final group is announced.

my favourites from the first mission were megan, marquise and lara but i had my eye on yoonchae (for some reason i kept looking for her through the performance)

Thank you for watching these “additional videos”, although I did not know it on my own, I assumed they would perfectly fill in the part I was missing during watching Popstar Academy. Plus it is comfortable to just watch one longer video than playing and waiting for many short ones… If HYBE ever reaches out to you again, let them know that they do not have to make 3 hours Mnet-like videos, but 30-50 minutes is the perfect spot for both Kpop survival show viewers and also for new Kpop fans, who do not know how long survival shows can be… My commentary on Mission 1: Dance “battle”: Team A: They felt like most of them did not fit the style of the song and choreography too. I feel like Adéla does not “know/understand” the idol culture enough. She is a great dancer, but she seems to have a hard time being an idol and dancer at the same time. Megan and Daniela stood out the most, but still… this performance did not say much, the only thing I reminded myself while watching this was that BLACKPINK would have looked good as five members group, but that was not because of Ua nor Hinari… that is purely because of the choreography working well for 5 members too… Team B: I am flabbergasted Emily suits choreographies and styles like OMG! She serves as a great center while still giving others space to shine top! Ezrela and Marquise would be right behind her. Both balancing Emily’s energy SO WELL! Mei is the only one, who would have to be replaced by someone else, because although she is good, she lacks personality in my opinion. She seems like she does what an idol is expected to do, which is correct, but I can see others learning this while still keeping their skill level. Yoonchae is not strong here either, but considering her growth I can see her being even better in a group like this. I have not gotten to this topic yet here, but Yoonchae might be (if Popstar Academy does not change my opinion) the only member of Katseye I am not entirely sure with her position in the group besides being Korean (basically the opposite case of having an English speaking member in a “Kpop Kpop group”) and being the cute little girl. Which would have been way more useful in a group like this one. Vocal “battle”: Team A: Iliya gives soloist vibes way too much. And that is nothing towards her, she is not like the blonde annoying Chinese Planet C “I am sexy” guy… it is purely that some people do not fit group energy and are better on their own. Brooklyn is great, I noticed her energy more than Manon’s energy! I see why people (and Bang Si Hyuk) like Lexie, but I have to give it some time, she is still unclear in my eyes. And Karlee is slowly growing on me! Team B: Lara was definitely sure to debut! Then… hmm… it really shows that personality means a lot, because Sophia does not sound so strong and like a contestant, who is going to debut. It makes sense they want to debut Samara in the next girl group. Nayoung is somewhere around their level, her singing style just does not speak to me. Celeste was the weakest in many aspects. My eliminations: First of all, this is exactly the part I dislike a lot… them getting votes thanks to their followers and so obviously people from bigger countries will have more followers than from the smaller ones likes Slovakia… Sure… Adéla was not giving a group member vibes, but she deserved to be there longer like Iliya for example. My elimination would be Celeste and that would be it. Compared to everyone else she did not make me wonder about her potential or chance to overcome something, she was just alright and there it ends. If I had to choose someone else, it would be Ua or Hinari and… hmm… Ua makes me choose to keep her because of the solo moment in the Art Film (the dance part after Emily’s moment), but that was not part of this performance… so I do not know… probably I would end up choosing Hinari as well, but if I could, I would eliminate only Celeste. Your statement at the end about Adéla: I pretty much pointed that out without knowing what happens in episode 5. Her performance lacks the idol nature and not in the way as if she did not know how to perform like that she might not know Kpop per se. Like she knows those famous Kpop acts and that there is some kind of training system, but there it ends. And I do not assume every idol or trainee these days actually thinks deeply about the defition of an idol (as we do here while we create a group in our mind during watching a survival show or while we are looking for the next Michael Jackson…), but they are somewhat familiar with what Kpop life is. Whereas people like Adéla might just think: “It’s like being a star, but coming from Korea”…

I know you aren’t a big fan of Nayoung but I think this show did her a little dirty. You will find out why they let her go and it turns out that it isn’t accurate. She went on to the Korean show called Girl on Fire and ended up winning. Her vocals blew me away on that show.

Just in case no one has informed you, tripleS Hatchi are having a comeback called Password tomorrow, and the mini album for it on Oct 2, which will be the last Hatchi release with the current members, and I think they will either switch out the members or make a different Japanese unit eventually. Also, let me know if there's a different place it would be better to inform of stuff like this, because I don't want to leave comments unrelated to the video if I don't have to

Loved Girls on Fire, it was an amazing survival show and I was so hyped for that group. The talent!! So sad they disappeared.

PD I tried, I was there in the trenches, weverse notifications ON, voting every day for Marquise and Lexie, but people didn't get the vision T.T

Omg I’m glad you said you would have been an early marquise supporter because that was me when I was watching!! My standouts from the beginning were Marquise, Lara and Daniela, but I was really rooting for Marquise to make it

damn Team B dance and vocal were soo good, vocals team B was amazing i really looved Samara's voice and i think her and Lara were my favorite in this but everyone drew my attention in this team i guess now it makes sense why all of them were top 10 even with all the bias voting issues they had

Also when I watched the Dream Academy (I only watched it after Katseye already came out with Touch) I didn't know there were these evaluation videos. They seem so weird to me and I can't pinpoint why exactly. I'm really interested what was the reaction to these videos back when all of this was airing live? Does somebody know? :D

I think what Adelá’s mother was reacting to was the fact that the judges kept saying they saw her as a solo artist from the beginning but never said anything. So it was kinda like they just needed another number to eliminate you know? Like if you knew this whole time she didn’t fit why keep wasting her time. Also after time has passed and we know more after Adelá gave up ballet her parents wanted her to give up on the arts entirely. So she had to sneak and audition then convince them to let her drop out of school and give it one more try. Then for like 2 years (because we have evidence of them working on this back in 2020) she’s constantly in the top 5 getting constant criticism and praise back and forth, then told all of a sudden it’s a survival show with fan voting, then just being dropped and told the reason why is they always just saw her as a solo artist anyway. Like that’s an insane thing to say in the moment right after her dreams are crushed.
