WiseSmellyLegs

I am not sure if I have any preference between Famous and One More Time, but Look At Me is the goat for me. The hook is stuck in my head since its release!

WiseSmellyLegs

Annie is that type of rapper, who would be trained under SM and who would be taught to be a rapper because she is fluent in English and they wanted to have her in their new group because of that. Which is the thing that disappoints me, since I would not expect this from The Black Label. The thing she brings to the group is her lower voice, but I question a lot whether that is something they use a lot for her to be necessary in the group.

WiseSmellyLegs

The thing with Tarzzan is that he actually brings a unique chemistry to the group (both vibe-wise and while performing too). So while the group could work as trio (Bailey, Woochan and Youngseo), he definitely was necessary for the group in the long run. But the thing I mind about him is how they trying to force him to us as some “main act” of the group. Him getting a solo song, while Youngseo not having even a duet song as the rest of the group. Then the song getting an MV… Plus in general they know Tarzzan is talk about a lot (in a negative way) and they seem to use it as their promotion intentionally… It is weird to say it like this but I understand more that people dislike Tarzzan than when people hate on Annie, but I am actually more dissapointed by The Black Label, when it comes to their plans with Tarzzan. In comparison to Annie, who is “just there” and technically she might always be just “good enough to be able to keep up (somewhat)”, but to be honest I can easily imagine Tarzzan improving over time, while Annie will stay at the same level as she is. But I hope I am wrong

Unfortunately Annie’s stage presence is really lacking ;( she always looks a bit awkward, but I believe she can improve over time if she truly loves this (and the same goes for her rapping, although I think she shinned a lot on Famous)

Don't know if it was intentional or not but really appreciate the Teddy-esque outfit for this listening party PD :D

Jeez, the Annie hate is getting pretty crazy I'm not gonna lie. Made watching a reaction I was looking forward to a lot pretty uncomfortable. I'm not saying she's the greatest thing around or on the exact same level as her members but some of this was getting a bit much for me personally

Sascha

it's easy to criticise Annie for her rapping (which I agree isnt perfect) but let's be real, she has both vocal & rap positions in the group, basically like Woochan & Bailey. Youngseo is the main vocal of the group and I think it's hard to argue with the fact that she's the best vocalist in ADP. Tarzzan however is not the best rapper in ADP but is also the only member who has yet to deliver a single vocal line in their discography. Personally i think it's a far bigger flaw if you cant sing as a debuted idol than not delivering on every rap line. I rather have a decent vocalist but lackluster rapper in a group than a mediocre rapper who cant sing. Also despite all the criticism I think the results ADP is getting, are proving people wrong.

I’m honestly pretty shocked by this video. I usually enjoy your video because you’re normally so well-meaning with your feedback (as harsh as it may be), but this genuinely came across as mean-spirited and honestly fueled by the general hatred towards annie. Spending 15 minutes out of a 40+ minute video just listing how 'bad' Annie is felt less like a review and more like a teardown. You can see the proof in the comments—everyone is just piling on her because youve clearly shown your channel is ok with that sort of discussion. She’s definitely not the worst idol ever like shes being made out to be, and it’s disappointing to see a creator I usually like lead such a toxic conversation.

Agreed. It’s a total bop! To be fair though, I’m from New Jersey and grew up with the Jersey club beat so it’s a sonic cheat code for me, even if nothing else in the song is Jersey club. There’s just something about it that activates my neurons.

Jackie Jack

Off topic, but your comments about “Eyes on Me” being better on the album reminded me of a few times I was blown away by that with a few other songs. If you’re reading this and never heard “sync-love” and “MVSK” by Kep1er, “Pantomime” by WJSN, and “The Colors of Light” straight into “Glitch” by Kwon Eunbi, go find yourself over-ear noise cancelling headphones and get ready for a sonic experience. 💃🕺 (Please comment your favorite examples of this cuz I LOVE hearing way more layers and dynamics that just 100% elevate a track.)

Sorry if it comes off mean spirited. I make it pretty clear I'm not okay with blind hatred, like with Tarzzan hate and calling Tarzzan a "bad rapper". I just wanted to objectively illustrate, Annie's the most important member in some ways because she fundamentally does not add or enhance the dynamics in any way whatsoever, and yet they're already this successful. Once Annie is able to actually break out of that, it's less of a skill thing, but SHOW her color as an artist, it'll only take this group further. Right now, she lacks any personality in her delivery. I'm only ever harsh and extremely critical in one realm and it's in this category. This is especially more prominent in my survival show reactions where I go harder in on trainees to make it clear what's missing. I'm sorry if I was unable to eloquently translate that into a constructive narrative and it was received in a mean spirited manner.

Form of Therapy

You worded it a lot more eloquently than I did as my critique of Annie is being received as "toxic". I just have a way higher standard for Teddy and The Black Label and I'm surprised they debuted someone who is just "fine". Thus far The Black Label has built this reputation almost on "prestige and class", putting out idols who have this innate RAW diamond like quality that is only polished further over time. Woochan is NOT perfect, neither is Tarzzan nor Bailey, they're all good but in varying categories but they all have this innate raw star power that you can almost SEE TBL's vision for them. I just don't see with Annie. I truly mean it with no malice but I genuinely am curious what the vision with her is.

Form of Therapy

Well I'm sorry. I wanted my critique to come across constructive not hate. I don't hate her, and have made it pretty clear that I don't condone hate for performers, only constructive critique. I'll do better to deliver my thoughts more eloquently.

Tarzzan is recognizable tho. I love adp but i also think that Annie is lacking the most in all of the areas. Dancing, energy overall, charisma, singing, rapping whatever. No hate btw. It’s just an objective opinion. Bailey for example excels in dancing. But has a forced delivery whenever she raps. But her verses on hot are insanely dope. She brings the sass and charisma to deliver those lines. Annie overall is not bad she’s just mediocre. Nothing stands out.

Hoon_ist

Don’t get all the people pressed in these comments, PD told no lies. Annie adds NOTHING to this group, they can take her out and their music or group in general wouldn’t get affected or impacted in any way. That said, Hot is the best song on the EP and Bailey’s “it’s like I won the lotto” part in You and I was the highlight of that song, the way she delivered it is so catchy.

WiseSmellyLegs

Hmm… I am getting tired of this situation around ADP. When one likes them, they (the one/in this case you, PD) gets harsh feedback for liking them because of X amount reasons for which they should be hated. But then when one is honest, it goes the other way round, because apparently it is expected to deny anything negative about them. It is necessary to see the difference: - Hating Annie because she comes from a rich family and intentionally seeing everything wrong about her and going after her family (like sister and spamming her on social media…) THAT IS WRONG & BAD - Being honest and focusing only on the part of her skills/performance regardless of her background is JUST TRYING TO BE UNBIASED AS POSSIBLE & SHARING ONE’S POINT OF VIEW ON THE ONE PART REGARDING HER The same goes with Tarzzan… Saying he is a great dancer and has something to add to the group DOES NOT EQUAL one is trying to defend any controversial thing he might be related to. Obviously we speak about this case, where nobody commited any crime or harmed anybody. It is understandable that one may share a good comment on something and not meaning to say the person has not done anything wrong ever. But also… let’s not act like there was no Zico before and Tarzzan is the first Kpop act to be going way beyond with his hip hop/black culture appreciation.

I agree with you Annie doesn’t have charisma at all. Her face and rap is always plain. Rapping should be like more bold and I don’t feel anything coming from her. Hopefully she can improve in the future

fern

looooove the background vocals during bailey and tarzzan's verse on look at me, they really stand out so much more with headphones. i really loved hot, it's been on my playlist more than some of the title tracks i think the group would be stronger without annie even though i like the idea of a 3 girl 2 guy group

fern

totally agree on "the current state of tarzzan"

fern

annie reminds me of when sunmi raps

MA
