It sucks to think Ging never gets true judgment or consequences for being a deadbeat dad, but there is something to think about with the mangaka having him not redeemed really or having him forgiven for being an absentee father like it’s an apology to his son in a way of saying, don’t forgive me (I mean I can only HOPE he wasn’t even close to Ging behavior irl, but I can see the similarities of the flawed person who is labeled a genius, and the population reveres or fears this powerful person he’s become while showing, hey he could be more emotionally intelligent and more present in his son’s life) BUT ALSO, we never get any search for Gon’s mother??? Like why does the dad get the glory and this mythos and never ending search for this enigmatic figure while the mom is just a footnote—of all the world expansion I wish even 2% of the empathy Gon showed Ging went towards his birth mom

This episode made me remind this mangaka wrote it for his son… Like what the hell is the message from it to him?? Did the mangaka have a kid he did not plan to have and instead of explaining it all to him, he was like: “I will write a story, which will make it clear to him” Also… this whole Pariston thing… this is such a Hunter x Hunter thing to happen in this whole show! We are literally like two episodes before the end of this arc and now I see why they stopped this remake here to make it like: “If manga covers enough story eventually, we might continue this anime too, but if not, this is the end and everything seems like a proper end” Even whole thing with Killua and his family. We got Leorio back for a moment. Gon met his father. The whole Hunter world is about to get changed, so it reflects the “end” of the story too in this regard. Only Kurapika’s story is somewhat nowhere right now. But to be fair his story line was like Leorio’s but more interesting, like as if he was meant to have his own spin off series and we just got to see hints of it here and there. So for the main story here the most important part was The Phantom Troupe and the rest is up in the air

Form of Therapy

I mean you could philosophically say that Ging is actually forever punished because he will never truly know his son who is like the best kid on Earth

I imagine years down the line and new hunters join the association having to get the lore drop that Gon, the most beloved Hunter is the son of Ging who is known for 2 things, one for being mad powerful, two for being such a PUBLICLY despised deadbeat that people know they can’t win yet still take shots against him bc he’s such an asshole
