bts being awful at lipsyncing, we're so back

Aisha

You have to watch the live concert on Netflix!!

ana

woahh, i loved your pitch for the music video, it sounds like it would be so interesting. bts said they wanted people to focus on the song over the music video so it does seem minimal effort and that was one thing i will not understand them for because even though it was gorgeous in its own right, i do wish they could have showcased some of this choreo to remind people that even when they do less, it can be so captivating. and I'm right with you, i thought of black swan's art film and dance practice when i watched this for the first time (like that hauntingly beautiful vibe) so excited for your reaction to the concert, the livestream was lowkey a mess (they kept showing us the streets and crowd) but the edited version on netflix now is slightly better! i love love love the 2.0 choreo and like animals had me tearing up fr

ALSO last thing!!! that scene in jhope's verse where they're all circling him gave me literal chills, i'm obsessed and its going to go so hard on that 360 stage on tour

Liz

They released this on apple music as well

This choreo is sooo good. It elevates the song, I’m very obsessed with the live performance of this song. I don’t know why but it reminds me of black swan

JJ

saw someone say that this is their white swan and well, yes

JJ

while it doesn't have the same impact as black swan had for me personally, I totally see the parallels - the choreo with its contemporary elements, the lightness and softness compared to the darkness and intensity of black swan, even the meaning with black swan being about their fear of losing their love for the art and swim being their return to it (and army) and all about "just keep swimming" aka "we will keep on going with this art and with each other" I might just be interpreting to much into this and I wouldn't have gotten to this comparison without seeing someone say it, but I still think it's beautiful, no matter if its intentional or not

hybe just uploaded the 4k version on youtube rn LOL

i COMPLETLEY agree!! i already loved the song (honestly super up my alley for the type of pop music i like) but i was overall meh on the mv - it didn't move me even when i knew its intent/meaning. the dance is just sooooo beautiful. it reminds me of black swan to a certain extent which is easily my fave bts performance. i LOVE your repitch of the mv - i have this image in my brain of the boys doing that circle formation on the boat with an overhead shot with lili in the middle of them. we were robbed of that in my opinion... your discussion about what makes k-pop "k-pop" reminds me of this one quote from yoongi's NME interview that i use all the time to explain the genre to non-kpop fans: “‘K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”

Regarding your speech of the Korean aspect of Kpop. I always say Kpop/Jpop/whatever letter-pop represents the idol scene of that country. And so obviously not every artist of that country (Korea in this case) is an idol/Kpop artist and because of that Kpop song does not equal being in Korean all the time. I agree with your take that having the choreo in the MV would have made it more like a Kpop MV with super high budget rather than a quick cut through an American high quality movie with Kpop features here and there. By the way, here is the full quality of this video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/h-Y97xErGL8?is=FwOZ4ezMOl7tjgOM

I really want to watch their Netflix comeback stage . That performed a lot of new songs

zzzuzi_the_hedgehog

RM explained why he chose SWIM as a title track and why they choose strong presence of an actress in a MV. you can watch studio notes on their YouTube channel

madi

you really got to watch the netflix comeback show. the 2.0 choreography…oh my god i need a performance/practice video of it so BAD the footwork in it is soooo cool

aylalala

I agree imagine seeing those gorgeous moves with a sweeping shot over that boat and ocean between the shots of Lili and the members

Ana

I agree with the video idea - it's not exactly bad as it is, but your idea would've been very nice! Can't wait to see your reaction to the comeback show & docu 👀
