I love how took the remaining parts that aren’t in the official Sherlock track and put it into the Shinee IV concert version.

This is suchhhh a good album it’s ridiculous. I think Minho, Key, and Taemin catch up and can bring their vocals and flavor starting from here which starts to elevate their sounds as a group going forward like you mentioned! I was so excited for you to see the Note + Clue parts individually, it shocked me so much too when I first heard it. Alarm Clock is one of my fav shinee songs period it’s so chill and that beat is just so great. Honesty I really like too because it’s a song written by Jonghyun for shawols and everyone’s vocals on it are SO clear, you can hear that vocal synergy. A good way to tell Key and Minho apart is usually when Key goes up it’s sharp and crisp, when Minho goes in his upper register it’s smooth and velvety, especially because of the lisp he has lol.

U should watch shinee world 4 performance for sherlock(clue+note) they swap the verse from clue and note song and rearranged the song.

Ah, everytime someone falls for SHINee, I'm reminded how I fell. So hard and so fast. Still here, will never leave. But as every shawol will tell you, SHINee live is on another level. You will literally flip out when you see Stranger live for the first time. In both Jonghyun and Taemin version for the high note. And Minho did a solo version of Honesty for a VCR at their concert, it is insanely beautiful. I have so much fun watching your journey

Can't wait for you to watch SHINee World IV intro which has a rearranged Sherlock version with more parts from both Clue and Note, Stranger, as well as Shine and Picasso (two other bangers of course). It's legendary. Oh and yes - Stranger was originally a Japanese song on their debut Japanese album which you skipped. Alarm Clock from the same concert is also so good. Your reaction to the Reason was everything hhahaha, relatable!

Next up is the Misconceptions Of Us which is a compilation album containing like 20 songs in total, I wonder will you do them all in one go? :D There's two parts with 9 songs each + 2 extra tracks on the compilation/repackaged version. It's one of the fan favorite albums, and is so iconic. Honestly, the best is yet to come from here on imo: Misconceptions, Everybody, Odd, 1 of 1 are all peak Kpop albums.

I don’t think it’s crazy at all to think The Reason is one of the best k ballads of all time, I think especially when it came out it was highly regarded (although ik mainly my sources were present shawols) BUT ik Shinee still has The Reason regarded as one of their tops, especially bc of Jonghyun, ik the concert video of them doing this still gets so many views

Oh to have discovered Sherlock in the year of our lord 2023. :))) Jk, idk who I would be if I didn't hear Sherlock in 2013, the first Shinee song I saw/heard and kicked off my journey with them til today (and beyond). The way my jaw dropped when you said you hadn't heard the full track with ot5 until now. Sherlock and Juliette are always competing for my favorite Shinee song, but if you asked me my favorite Kpop song of all time, I'd have to say Sherlock, for basically all the reasons you listed, plus the dance and the way Shinee performs it live (impeccably and all out, always). And I haven't heard Clue and Note separately in a long time, so that was fun too. I agree, One (Monster + Infinity) didn't quite reach this level, but it was still awesome. The albums only get better from here PD! Can't wait to see the full Misconceptions album, and good luck haha.

Sometimes I wonder how much the nostalgic factor influences me when I say SHINee has some of the best albums and songs ever, so it feels really good to be validated haha I was actually listening to this album a few weeks ago and couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts on it, it didn’t disappoint! Now I can’t wait for you to react to the live stages of these songs (most are featured in the SHINee World IV concert, which is a masterpiece!) You are totally right, SHINee’s vocal colors are what make them so special. I love how their voices are so distinct, yet go so well together. Next on the list is The Misconceptions albums series… you are in for a treat!

PD nim, I was at your YouTube channel 8 years ago and watched the full reaction you did for Kibum's FACE, multiple times at that (now, unfortunately, a video lost in time). I remember you loving it and trying out SHINee. I remember you didn't like Good Evening that was released that year, you didn't vibe with that sound. And I was like "they'll get there eventually. They'll find them and they'll know". I knew, since you actually appreciated music that you would eventually fully discover them and love them. Glad to see I wasn't wrong 😂 SHINee's discography is absolutely unique. There's not a single genre that they haven't experimented with, be it as a group or solo. Going back to their album journey, if you notice, you'll see many trends that started with the, even since their early days. For example yes, Sherlock was a blueprint for One. View started the deep house genre that was followed by f(x) 4 Walls is another example. From their music to their fashion, they were and are pioneers. I'm really happy that you're part of us now ❤️ P. S. Honesty was written by Jonghyun and Minho. Also, that "heEeE" you heard in Alarm clock was Taemin 😊

ok ok wait I commented too soon bc what you said about Shinee's vocal chemistry -- THIS IS WHAT I'VE LITERALLY BEEN SAYING FOR 13 YEARS. Nobody sounds like them! Still! To this day! And they simply have the best most unique individual voices which SHOULDN'T work together but then come together to make the best vocal blend you've ever heard in your life! It doesn't make sense but that's the TRUTH. To THIS DAY, there's no one else in kpop who sounds like Jonghyun (good luck even trying), Onew, Taemin, or Key. You could maybe make an argument for Minho being slightly more "generic" baritone, but I think once you get to know his voice it's pretty unique too. And imo in a current kpop world where more and more groups sound similar and have less differentiation between voices within a group, Shinee is only going to sound MORE unique and interesting as time goes on. Thank you PD for validating me hahaha. As for whether the Sherlock EP is one of the best Shinee/kpop albums... well yes, but also I know what's yet to come soooo :D

The nostalgia that hits with every single one of these listening parties is insane! Theres something to say about the fact that you are feeling the same exact emotions we all felt listening to these songs when they came out over 10 years ago but your listening NOW! Thats the true meaning of music. This is why music was created. Shinee was one of my first two groups when I found kpop over 15 years ago along with DBSK and they both still hit me in the feels. Sherlock is def one of those songs that's gonna be iconic beyond the end of time!

I think the Sherlock era was such a pivotal moment for SHINee as a whole. The music here is such a masterpiece for sure, but also a turning point for the group. If i remember correctly there is an interview they have down the years where they share how the Sherlock era was thier time to make the choice on whether or not they were going to continue to be a group, make music etc. and in the end it was a no brainer for them to keep going and we are certainly grateful for it.

Sherlock is honestly one of their best EPs, and it's getting even better from here if you can believe it. Also I CAN'T WAIT for you to watch both SWC III and SWC IV concerts - especially the latter starts with Sherlock and Stranger and it's so epic. Also, I have a question - will you be doing Misconceptions of Us or will you divide it into two (three) albums? I hope you do them as one, but it will be long xD

as someone who didn’t start getting into shinee until 2018 with their story of light trilogy (my favorite of theirs btw its so sonically cohesive i would recommend listening to all three EPs at once when you get to it) but i havent listened to all the albums before just bits here and there so im going along on this discography journey with you and i have to agree this has been their best project so far from their early days i totally loved it and cant join you for the next one.

Honestly SM created a masterpiece with Sherlock. They used the best parts of Clue and Note to make it into this completely new song and it just somehow comes together so well. I hope you get to react to Shinee World IV in the near future, because that version’s arrangement genuinely blew my mind the first time I watched it.
