i hate to admit it but i was kind of let down by this album overall - for similar reasons as what you said in the reaction. the songs didn't mesh together well and although some tracks are decent, i wouldn't necessarily re-listen to them again. i don't want to compare them to zb1, but this album was released one week after theirs's and both groups had relatively similar teasers concept-wise so i came into listening to this album with cautiously high expectations. i also really liked the concept and ideas a2b presented with their teasers and even the mv, but the songs themselves kinda fall short of those expectations i had. a2b will probably be just fine career-wise coasting by at this standard due to their existing fanbase, but in this landscape where there are so many unique and special 5th gen bgs, i really hope they figure out their identity and sound sooner rather than later. i'm not really expecting much given yuehua's track record unfortunately and i'm lowkey annoyed that yuehua had THREE WHOLE YEARS to get their shit together to put out an amazing bg debut... oh well! fwiw i do enjoy most of the songs on this album individually and with the right producers AND a&r with a vision i can see this group really flourishing. i think all the members were underutilised here and even in zb1 and evnne, we had glimpses of moments where each member shone.

personal thoughts: i loved this album more when it was just newly released. now that a week as passed, the adrenaline or the recency-bias went away. i think i just missed hearing their voices so much, and now that it has marinated, i do not really feel as hyped anymore with this album. objectively, the songs are actually far from being bad, but something about this debut falls short to me in a sense that it does not feel like a re-debut, but rather a regular boy group comeback. i think the earlier teasers did not help - their teasers intrigued people because they genuinely felt creative, new, so people's expectations kept building up. i hate to compare two beloved groups of mine, but zb1's comeback ended up feeling more 'fresh' than this supposed re-debut. yuehua had song camps for this and even hired new staff specifically for and2ble, so i really hope they put a much more impactful comeback. they have such a talented lineup right here! overall, yuehua has been frustrating in terms of marketing and treating this debut too. i think it is good they have a number of variety show appearances but outside of those it has been.. bonkers. weeks ago, they also announced a show-con tour starting right away this june . i get that the members are established with a huge fanbase (already 700k sales) but it's definitely.. still something. all 3 days of the shows in seoul this june have tons of available seats.. i am under the impression that yuehua expected a2b to keep the same reach and selling power right away, when the reality is BOTH zb1 and a2b will both have to re-start in a sense because they were split. sigh. i could only wish for the best.. i am obsessed with ricky's hair though. one thing they get sooo right haha.

i mean - 8/10 Album is still really high, though. I really like this Album. Aura is my fav song, the Title Song is Ok for me, a 6 or 7 out of 10 for me. Tbh i was going into this Album and also (Re-)Debut totally open-minded. I had higher expectations and set a higher bar with ZB1's comeback. I'm not disappointed with Yuhea Way of going into this Debut bec I was and am expecting them to not have a set Sound and Vision for them - especially bec we have a "new member" here. I don't know how I can explain it better, but ZB1 was for me more the Group that had to prove themselves after the Split (and they did def not disappoint hahah - just hope WakeOne now kinda fix this Concept or something for them now. To have the new ZB1 go all over the place with different concepts all over again...hmm idk if this is the right move to do now for them.)

I really love Curious, the vocals and the production is crazy. It's a good introduction for them. The b-sides I liked a lot but I won't say they're in my top 10 favorite ZB1 songs (I like to view ZB5 and AND2BLE as ZB1 subunits now lol). But YH had a few years to prepare for their debut, they could've selected more memorable or more unique songs for their debut album. But I also disagree, I think their vocals have been better utilized a lot more than when they were under W1. If you listen to the album with production removed and just their vocals, it's a LOT of layering and harmonies on every song. It's actually one of my biggest critiques with ZB1 songs before, I don't know what's wrong with W1 but even with ZB1's recent album it feels like they're allergic to harmonies, adlibs, lower registers and vocal layering which this album is inundated with. I even feel like ZB1 got to show off more of their skills in their covers like Run Run and I Love than their own songs. Like are we hearing Hao and Yujin in this album, they finally got to show off what they can do. I do hope we can hear more of Ricky in their next albums though, his voice is so iconic but not quite utilized here and yey at least he's blonde again. Gyuvin I'm glad is singing more cause I'm not a fan of his rapping (sorry but I'm just not a fan of the raps in ZB1 songs in general). And dayum, Seungeon is a vocal beast he deserves to be more known he's one of the best vocalists in the recent generations.

my fav song on the album is sugar rush. in general I think it's kinda mid and unfortunately I still don't love curious. especially compared to ascend I just think this debut doesn't really hit. it's not bad. just not very.... remarkable i guess. with zb1 I've alwayshad at least 2 bsides I seek out. but i really only listen to sugar rush. I hope the next comebacks get better or like more unique

I would say I agree and disagree with certain points but I do agree with 8/10 for the album. I agree with that they definitely didn’t make the best use of everyone’s vocals, it felt like the company really closed in on Hao and seungeon to take the brunt of the vocals/ harmonies as if they didn’t trust that Ricky, Gyuvin and yujin to deliver vocals (when they all sounded so amazing and improved in the behind recordings of the songs). I feel like that’s what muddied the songs a bit for me because these kinds of songs really thrive with all the different vocal tones and textures everyone in a2b have. Which brings me to what I disagree on, which is that happy& is my favourite track on the album 😆😆 I mean I am personally drawn to more happy and upbeat songs but happy& really draws me in especially with how gyuvin sounds in it, hes so completely in his element in that song. Though it definitely isn’t sonically cohesive with the rest of the album at all. And if we are comparing this to the ascend album, I would say that the songs on the ascend album were all fantastic but I knew EXACTLY how to rank each song. It’s completely the opposite for me with sequence 01: curiousity because other than happy& and curious, I can’t exactly rank the rest of the songs like they all feel like they’re missing something. Idk but I absolutely get where you’re coming from.
