HIGURUMA BELOVED ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!! When I read this arc I was so confused as to why we’re getting to know him but looking back with the whole picture now I can see the through line of the mangaka about “justice”, innocence, and who gets to deliver judgment, that’s yuji’s whole thing since the start of the show, he’s trying to do the right thing and the ends up binding him to sukuna and he feels guilty as if he committed the crimes himself; the show often has these philosophical arguments on who is to blame, why is bureaucracy not serving the innocent but enabling the majority in power inside and outside the jujutsu society, going back to Geto and his moral struggle, Yuji and Megumi constantly grappling with “am I doing the right thing?” And what keeps being repeated especially at this point in the show is that jujutsu sorcerers aren’t heroes, amoral even, especially with the systems in place not even necessarily caring about civilian lives unless it affects them and their power. At the time it felt like who are all these people being introduced and why do I care, I didnt know where we were going so I was just bracing for impact while reading the entire arc and unable to take in what he was trying to say.
