About WayV's name. It seemed like SM wanted to call the group NCT Vision (that's what the V stands for) originally. But because the Chinese government tries to snuff out Hallyu influence in China (in favor of actual Chinese groups), SM decided to remove NCT from their name to remove bias against Korean groups. It's most likely just a marketing move intended to give the Chinese subunit a better chance to succeed in China and so far it is working.
