I agree with you on the point about their choreo; lately it has not done the girls justice. I recall seeing how amazing the girls are in dancing in their documentary but I think a large part of it was because Lisa would choreograph their dances for their evaluations. I feel like YG (for whatever reason) has simplified their choreo a little too much. Manifesting Lisa choreographs their dances in future comebacks!!

Every member of BP can dance 😊 It’s just that their choreos never did them justice... fans have been complaining about it and even asked for a new choreographer. Speaking of dance, You should check out Lisa’s dance videos on her YouTube Channel "LiliFilm Official". She’s an amazing dancer.

I'm pretty sure this is an excerpt from their online concert, The Show. They put it on Corden's show as a sort of preview. I think in the context of a larger concert it will be fun, but I agree that the stage is messy. Mostly I found the lights to be super distracting and at times made it hard to focus on and actually see BlackPink. I don't understand this trend of using lights for a live audience when the performance is going to be online, but I've noticed it on some kpop music show performances too.

Yeah the choreo is really boring. And I totally agree with you, it's more about the music and less about the dance with Blackpink. Which is kinda sad in my opinion, because we already got to see their potential. So I don't really understand why they're holding back.

I personally think that with the New Generation and groups like ITZY, coming in. We are getting used to having each member within the group be, called 'all-rounders' and excel at multiple roles within the group. Also, the newer generation, is becoming more 'dance-based' a lot of the newer groups are considered to be 'dance heavy groups', such as weeekly, ITZY etc. There is less 'vocal' or 'rap' focused groups coming out now.

This is also an opinion I have. i'm not a blink, i'm rather a 'casual listener' to them. But, I have noticed while I've followed BP since debut, that ever since Coachella, Lisa's confidence, stage presence and facial expressions, have leaped to another level. Due to this 'increase', I just personally think that Lisa has been 'over shadowing'? the girls on stage, especially when she takes centre position in songs. Because her presence is so huge, when the members before or after her go, it feels like their energy is lower and you feel like the hype Lisa gave you, start to go down a bit. Maybe Blinks and BP stans feel differently, but its just something I have observed and made an personal opinion of, when watching their comebacks.

I dont think they’re bad performers they just dont have great choreos and the choreographers are focusing too much onto the “easy and everyone can do” theme

The video is an extract from the concert, which I've seen. Choreography wise while it's obviously not the best I've ever seen nor the best from Blackpink I enjoy it because it's rich with gestures and has quirky moments (like the "Jisoo run") and to me it fits the energy of the song which is sassyness and not necessarily power. The girls can all dance with proficiency but they never were a performance based group like we see in 4th gen, I'd say that their strenght is the music and their uncanny ability to fit the concept they're given and they bring to the table a pretty diverse skill set which is a strenght overall but can hurt when it come to "standardization" for a performance. Having seen it for the third time I think it's overedited to the point where one can feel lost in it and as such getting bored, like when wifi is slow.

I think so too! The “easy and everyone can do” choreos was a trend for a while. I remember even BoA did it once! (might still be a trend and I probably didn't notice it)

It's just the choreo. They are great dancers but they seem to focus more on the singing part I guess. As someone who appreciates stable vocals rather than hard ass choreography, I still love how they perform.

i dont think the video is extract, i think they performed it one time for the show and one time for Corden. I think it looked much better in the show than here. It looks kinda blurry when they move

I’ve been to a blackpink concert live before and their performances are very different from what they on music shows. As if it’s your last is by far my favorite choreo of theirs and they definitely gave justice to if. The choreography for this entire album was a miss in general (i have also watched the online concert) and i think they focus too much on the “simple dance easy trend” that it is affecting their stages hence the reason why each performance is getting boring. Another thing to also bring up is the fact that Jennie also has a problem with her ankle due to an accident before which great affects their direction in choreographies. But all in all, they should just let Lisa do their choreographies especially after seeing those pre-debut dance practice videos where she admitted to be the mind behind all those choreographies. But I still appreciate their performances tho.

I think blackpink are great performers and their dancing is also good, but definitely not as proficient as the new 4th gen groups who are completely dance focused. Also, fans have been complaining about blackpink's choreo for so long now because it never showcases their abilities, but yg keeps hiring the same choreographers over and over.

A lot of fans had complaints about the choreo. The past few choreos of blackpink have been a little on the awkward side. What I mean by the awkward side is that there are more hip and hand motions then actual feet movement.

Maybe you could check out a dance practice of blackpink? I recommend the "don't know what to do" dance practice from their kill this love ep. It's one of their better choreo's

Yeah the choreo hers is really awkward esp the chorus, but tbh I think they're great performers but get stuck with lackluster dances. And idk if it's bc they've been given this girl-crush/ badass concept and YG just wants them to be "pretty performers" but I always felt like Lisa & Jennie were always the ones that looked the most comfortable dancing. At the beginning of their debut, I felt that other members like Jisoo looked awkward & sometimes they just look as though they were trying to remember the moves rather than just performing it. But both her and the rest of the members have come such a long way since then.

the problem is the choreographer cause BP are really amazing dancers. Im not saying they are as pollish as the 4th gen groups that are comming out and they're obviously not the best dance group in the industry but they`ve always manage to do amazing choreos. The problem is with the most recent ones that i feel don't feel very natural and don't suit the songs that well. But still i thought the performance was amazing and it didnt felt messy for me at least.

the same old bp choreographers thats why blinks complain too bro because their predebut choreos that they lisa created herself are way better than anything theyve done since debut but yg dances are usually easy like ikon was a straight up dance focused group predebut and their choreo got way simplified even though the whole reality show we saw them doing way more hopefully with the debut of babymonster theyll be like treasure and actually have good choreos

I remember when I saw choreo of pretty savage for the first time I was like "are you serious???" This choreo doesnt give justice to THIS SONG! Their predebut dance practice still remains iconic, so they are good dancers but their recent choreos no no

I find that interesting. One of their choreographers is Kiel Tutin who I really like. He has choreographed for Itzy's Not Shy and Twice's More & More, Cry for Me, I can't stop me, and Fancy. All these songs have pretty difficult performances but I wonder why for Blackpink, the choreo is a bit tamed. Could it be just YG telling them to do easier dances?

I really dislike pretty savage’s choreo, and honestly LSG too. They’re lack luster and make them seem like not great dancers. I think BP are amazing performers, but their choreos don’t do them justice. They’ve never had amazing choreos (they only have 4 members to work with formations) but they always have an iconic movement, but pretty savage and LSG haven’t had that. I hope they get a better choreographer because this isn’t working for them in my opinion.

I think that the choreo sucks. Blackpink as a group aren't known for their dancing anyways, as you said, people only really mention Lisa in relation to dancing. YGE don't really have good girl group choreos, arguably even boy groups. They usually have like one key point in the dance and then that's it. I also think that YGE artists just have that sheer stage charisma and amazing presence that makes up for it though. Like idk. I wouldn't say the members aren't the best at dancing, just that dancing isn't a priority they have. Like Twice is known for their dancing and intense choreo, Blackpink isn't. Not a big deal at all although the girls are probably just as capable.

I agree with you. Blackpink's choreos have always seemed plain & repetitive to me. I think they do a pretty good job at coming up with a few memorable "point-dance" moves (ie. finger guns for DDU-DU DDU-DU, the gun body wave for kill this love, the whistle hopping for whistle, the head roll for pretty savage etc.) but the overall choreo is very basic & not entertaining imo. I also think the choreo's dont use Lisa's potential enough either (as one of the best female dancers in Kpop). Rose seems like a pretty good dancer, Jennie from what I've seen is okay (she has hella good stage presence/facial expressions when she wants tho) & Jisoo's definitely improved from before. But yeah kinda what you said about them not being a dance-focussed group, which I personally feel like 4th gen groups focus on a lot more than 3rd gen, let alone it being a YG thing. I also think some of their facial expressions seem too rehearsed & repetitive at every performance - I'd love to see some of their natural stage charisma & changing it up a bit cause I know they're capable of it - I think it's mainly their company idk.

Uhm... Blackpink isn't a strictly kpop group anymore nowdays, so I think it's okay if their dancing is not breathtaking. You can say that it has never been really, but you also need to remember that dancing has never been a yg thing, so it's okay overall. If you particularly care about dance maybe BP isn't your group choice, but they're doing music anyway, and they're not just kpop anymore, so I think they're somehow "allowed" to dance as they like. About Lisa... When BP members are together they're BLACKPINK, right? If you want your bias to have a personal space to show her talent in a group song, you should think that about every member. And I don't see Jennie rapping, as she should, so... Not really cool with it.

I remember when I got into kpop in 2017 and for a while I considered stanning Blackpink, however those to simply be a casual fan when I found out about how little music they got. However over time, I don't even bother looking at their performances, because their choregraph is so boring and basic, and I wish YG would perhaps let Lisa start doing their chorograph instead. Like let the girls bring their own imput and challenge themselves... Like no wonder Lisa can learn the chorograph in like 30 minutes or something like that. Sorry for any words that doesn't make any sense, English isn't my first language, and for being so late...
