Wow, this is a surprise! Thank you so much!

Nova Amore

omg!!!! ~~~All I read was "Oh my god I wish Rain was my dad." and I just knew that this would be a good reaction!!🤣 😂 ~Oh yeah, for your question about the 12 vs 6 people debuting, that really made a lot of people confused. Enhypen has 7 members! (How they chose them will be explained later!) I kind of wanted to mention that because I also had a similar reaction! ~lol!! Your comment about the colors looking like a Samsung ad is somehow so accurate!! ~I think that the Ilander’s dance performance was more memorable than the grounders! ~I agree with your statement that the Grounders didn’t stand a chance! ~I’m so happy that you still like Ni-Ki!! He got so much hate just for his actions in the first few episodes. ~👀👀 omg, your theory of the producers keeping Ni-ki in ground, and moving Kyungmin to I-land never occurred to me…….. ~🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 Your reaction to K’s abs was everything!!! Lol!!!! ~I love your reaction to Rain scolding the Grounders!

Nico Engels

Thanks for the surprise! And who wouldn't want to have Rain as a dad?!

Giselle

Mood tbh. he's that cool dad that sometimes (a lot of times) who do cringey stuff but you're just incredibly fond and not disgusted

everett

omg thank you for giving us an early i-land ep!!! i just got off work and this made my shitty day a whole lot better, can't wait to watch this one once i get caught up on the other uploads from today :-D

Gracie828

Yay!! Such a surprise! Ah the voting explanation. Honestly, the global voting was so confusing for this show.

Yanan

PD's guesses are spot on. O.O

jiminycricket

Thank you so much for this upload PD :)

Gracie828

Totally agree about Daniel and Jungwon looking similar!

syd

i was so confused when this was uploaded today but i'm not complaining! made my day :)

?

Hello PD! Since Running Girls is finish, are we getting another I-LAND ep this week? No rush though! Just curious~

mssmercedes

Lol feel free to accidentally post early whenever you 🤣🤣

Dia

You were so excited to share this you posted early lol and I’m glad! Loving rewatching this with you

Holly

Yayyy this surprise episode made my day better hahah! I’d just like to give my input (again) on Sunghoon’s performance as a figure skater myself. I feel like it was a good choice putting him in considering Jay couldn’t pull off the acrobatics, but I could definitely see hints of skating influencing his dance. First of all, he was super light on his feet which kind of put me off in this dance? Being light on your feet is usually an asset for dance but I felt like the dance style called for a heavier, more hard hitting energy. Second, the three main tricks he did (the first double rotation, the butterfly, and the bent knee 360 rotation thingy) stood out to me, and not necessarily in a good way. I’m sure to non skaters the tricks were super impressive (which they are- they’re very difficult to do and I can only do them because of ten years of skating training), but he executed them in a very *skating* type of way. Like the first double rotation he did- that’s literally the exact thing we do to practice technique off ice- his legs were straight and crossed, his arms were in a crossed air position, and he landed on one foot just like we would do for skating. And same for the butterfly- we do that move in skating, and it’s all about straightening our knees, pointing our toes, and having our legs create a beautiful arc in the air. In those two tricks he had perfect technique- only perfect SKATING technique. Legs straight, weight on the right side, etc. Though the moves were very cool and perfectly executed, I just felt like they didn’t really belong in the routine as you could see his graceful, ballet-type, skating technique training and it was just a bit off-putting for me. Don’t get me wrong, I was so happy to see him show off his moves! He blended in much better than I expected and his facial expression was really good too! I overall loved the performance. Maybe I’m noticing this more because I’m a skater and can recognize that technique anywhere but that was just what I saw haha

Tesa

Even I was inspired by Rain's words this ep! He's so good at giving advice! Also, interesting you pointed this out about Niki and Kyungmin. I feel like it could be true. Sadly, there aren't many super skilled contestants in Ground so us viewers probably wouldn't have cared much to see their portion of the show. Having Niki there really adds drama.

Giu Bressani

Niki was 14 during this and while I do criticize some of his decisions, I can't really hold it against him considering how young he is in such a difficult and stressful environment

mssmercedes

Your reaction at the end reminds me of the uproar the internet went into when they ended this episode. Like, you're starting global voting but we haven't seen either group perform and we don't know the other five i-landers that got moved to ground. The internet was a firestorm that day I tell you. At least I can (kinda) laugh at it now but people were heated.

Catrin

The grounders relied on Ni-ki way too much. I guess they could obviously see he was one of the most talented. But everyone seemed to look to him to carry them through the head-to-head dance, and then again to lead and teach them this new dance. I get that he's talented, and I'm glad he did step up for everyone's sake, but I think it kind of spoke to both the other grounder's faith in their own abilities and their general attitude that they didn't even consider stepping up themselves. They were lucky Rain gives good motivational speeches.

JustCakie

There are multiple huge production f ups in this show. This episode being an obvious one but around episode 8 or 9 they also massively mess up the voting by announcing an advantage for a winner BEFORE the voting, causing people to use their vote on someone else thinking this person is safe bc of their reward. Very annoying and very poor planning. I had a lot of bones to pick with the way the voting was done for this shown. It’s absolute biggest downfall

JustCakie

Very important to remember this. All 23 of those boys constantly relied on Ni-ki, a 14 year old in a foreign country, to lead them to victory. He did the best he could in the situation he was put in

Jess

I gotta say this show gave me so much respect for rain, but I'm reliving my frustrations with the grounders. I sometimes wish this show would've had trainers/coaches like some other shows because I feel like it would've probably evened out the playing field and helped with the grounders' lack of direction at times. I also think it was a good thing though because it pushed for people that were very self-reliant and could work under very little guidance. I wanted to root for the underdogs so bad, but they just didn't feel very driven to me.

Rae

PD's panicked reaction to K's body was everything, and same PD, sameee..... That K is something else

Harley

I can’t wait for you to get through to Part 2! There’s some surprises that I think you’ll really like

Ella

thanks for the slip up PD its much appreciated!

Malaki.H

YES THEY DO!! I've been thinking this since ep 1 they both like brothers

Kim Chaewon

Is it double episode this week or just 1 ?

SYNTHETIC NCTEEZ

I want episode 6 already noooo. I love PD's Reactions to this show. I watched it live and this thing DESTROYED ME.

M.C.

- I remember watching this when it was airing and a lot of people didn't like Niki, but he became one of my favorites during this episode. I thought he stood out and was a great dancer before this point, but him pushing himself out of his slump to help the others made me like him more. - I hated the end of this episode! We were supposed to start voting and yet they didn't show us any of the performances and they showed us that Seon got voted out by the producers. That's really unfair to the other boys that got voted out because nobody knows who the others are and won't get more votes. Also show us both performances and who got voted out before allowing the audience to vote. The ilanders don't even get voted out based on global votes, so the votes that go to the ones that make it are pointless. It just didn't make any sense to me while watching it.

Ulla Molina

But the viewers actually deduced who got eliminated in the first hours after episode was aired, based on blurred clothing and the fact that eliminated trainees probably hugged with the non-eliminated ones. It was very widespread on Twitter and also turned out accurate, so everyone actually had a chance to vote only for eliminated ones.

BaoziBang

I usually judge these performances in 3 categories because it doesn't feel right otherwise to me. Vocal, Dance and Chemistry. For the Vocal Unit Grounders had better Chemistry but the Islanders won in Vocal & Dance.

Wiktor

Dear PD there is an Episode 6 and an Episode 6 (Special). Would advice to SKIP the Episode 6 (Special). As it is just guest judges who come In and 'look back' on the previous episodes. nothing related to I-Land and the progress just a flashback for an entire hour. You will understand what I mean. It's just a filler episode between Part 1 and Part 2 of I-Land.

Réka O.

I'm not a figure skater or even a dancer but I thought the same thing! His moves were beautiful, but they didn't fit the hip-hop concept at all. He did really well though!

Leen

Im so happy you posted early😭 and it’s Friday already in my country lol

Emi R.

AGREED! I always skip through this episode. Even when I watched the first time it frustrated me and I kept waiting for new or interesting commentary or information that never came. I feel like it was a summary for people watching in real time that didn’t watch the first half of the show, but wanted to pick it up in part 2.

Alice

I loved the two dance performances so much, I keep watching them on YouTube 😬 can’t wait for episode 6! Do we get two episodes this week since Running Girls was finished?

Kpop_Platypus

I'd like to challenge PD to think back to an Enhypen MV or performance & recall if there were 12 members on stage. 🤭 PD got so thirsty watching them literally flex! 💪 Looking forward to next week, as always!

emotionless bot

Trainee K Protection Squad, we defend K on this household. Honestly LOVES how he takes no shit and actually has talent to back up his competitiveness.

Michelle R.

This episode and his performance as the dance representative definitely made me a fan of Nikki. He’s such a mature kid, but couldn’t help myself from feeling like he just needs protecting and a good role model to help him grow and improve. So excited for the next episode!!

Julianne

Nikki's slowly deteriorating self confidence really hurts because he's literally 15/16. He's so skilled and talented, he should really just be building confidence at that age. He's so young, but he's pushed to "the center" (not center position but just, limelight) to lead the GROUNDers and his confidence just keeps getting pushed down with each failure that REALLY isn't a fault of his own. He REALLY doesn't deserve to be responsible for the performance of all the GROUNDers, yet not only does he feel it, the other GROUNDers expect it of him because it's really their last chance too and he's the easiest, most viable safety rope to grab onto. This is the first idol competition I've seen with so little coach guidance/help. Which I guess makes a little sense because it's a competition to pick out a long-standing group and not really an idol development program. But also, this is why the particularly strong competitors like Nikki who's somehow stuck in GROUND have additional pressure and burden that's unrelated to their potential and skills as idols.

That day was Sunoo's 17th birthday, it was raining, he and his team lost and he was sick. In conclusion, the worst birthday ever.

Ginger Noona

The editing for Kyungmin in this episode may have been strategic: he’s set to debut with BigHit’s Japanese group. Maybe they knew he wouldn’t get into ENHYPEN and had to justify why he was chosen for the new group (the other I-LAND based members have a lot more screen time.) Or maybe watching Kyungmin work his ass off behind he scenes made Bang want to use him. Chicken or egg, the kid is debuting and I’m excited for him. Proof that quiet dedication doesn’t always go unnoticed.

Anonymous

PD: Sunoo, this kid got it / Me: *happy noises*

Dharling

I remember this being the episode I finally decided, that yes Ni-ki is my bias, also another thing that pissed me of soooo badly, was the fact that we had to vote, yet didn't actually know who we were to vote for or get the last performance to get the total idea of who we wanted to vote for!

Sarahvtae

Also one thing i have to say...in my opinion, it wasn't really the fairest battle, lol. The I-lander's choreo was WAY better...the song choice was better, even for the vocal unit...They chose completely different and exciting songs for the I-lander dance unit...how are the Grounders even supposed to "change the mood", when the songs don't change moods either- Also...like you said, it seemed like an ad...the 2nd song was straight up boring. I'm sure it would've been different, if they'd switch the songs...

Neeko

Rain needs to be on EVERY survival show as a mentor. His mindset, honesty, criticism and encouragement is chef's kiss.
