Coming off my previous post, I have some new ideas for Summer tier content! Would like some feedback.

  • Weekly podcast talking about current K-Pop news! Audio form only for now. Produced by someone else who would be in charge of it going out every week.
  • Request livestreams where only SUMMER tier Patrons and up get priority/suggestions. So imagine like our usual request livestreams but SOME OF THEM I will make the stream only accessible to summer tier patrons and up. Spring tier patrons can only watch the VOD after!

Let me know what you guys think about these additions?

I also calculated and clocked in that I work somewhere between 70 hours a week. That didn't sound too bad to me. But in a month I work somewhere between 280 and 280+ hours. It's like I put myself in a constant perpetual state of crunch. I mean, people should work hard but I objectively see what I'm doing to myself and I think "WTF".

So here's the weird position I find myself in. I actually really like doing this. I like giving you guys something that brings a little therapeutic relief into your life. I really like doing this. So I thought "oh but I like doing this so that's fine right? But it seems that my newfound optimism and enjoyment of this work has been causing me to overwork. To the point where I've developed ulcers and potentially stomach cancer (crossing fingers on that one).

I'll admit, I'm the worst at taking my own advice. I would never allow anyone I know to push themselves to this extent, taking zero time for themselves and just working all week long. But it's been like this compulsion, I actually can't stop. So I had to think: BUT WHY?

And I think I need to admit that the pandemic actually fucked me up mentally more than I could ever imagine. My parents lost everything due to the pandemic and became financially dependent on me. But my mother told me on the phone today, "It's okay. Even if it gets bad, we won't die."

I think that's what has fed into my paranoia this pandemic. My parents lost everything and it's made me go: but what if I lose everything? People on this Patreon all have different wants and needs and I have this sick need to please EVERYONE because I'm worried that it will all be over if I rest. I don't trust you guys enough to let myself rest. Why? Because the pandemic has shown me that HOLY CRAP PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE.

Even in the wake of a mass global crisis we couldn't band together as a country. I'm going to be honest, I had little trust in people before but man I must have been holding onto that because when what little broke I began to trust NO ONE.

I've been finding myself scared as I see people like Jang Dae Hee and Ju Dan Tae and I fear of becoming like them. And now I see that I've been in those early stages of distrusting the world, and going to extraordinary lengths in the pursuit of security. Everyday for almost 6 months now all I have been doing is WORRYING. Worrying about not making rent, worrying about my parents not making rent, and if we don't we'll die, etc. etc. I realize I may have a chronic worrying disorder and I'll go about seeking a psychiatrist to diagnosing me and helping me out with that.

And so I'm going to take it a bit easy. Even as I say this it fills me with dread. I'm that anxious. I'm still going to work, and I'm going to work hard but... I'll give myself days off. I'll take weekends off again. I'll also try my best to trust people again. I'll trust that I already put out a lot of entertaining worthwhile content that if I do step back a little, people won't leave in droves. And if people do leave I won't hold it against anyone, and I'll just adapt. I'll adapt and survive like I always have.

I've always worried my entire life but recently I've felt so... weak. I read my post from earlier and I hate the person who wrote that. I sound so pathetic and weak, and unlike myself. I guess the pain has just been so bad I'm just losing it grips with my mind. But I'm a survivor, I've gotten this far on adapting and being able to think on my feet. So in the coming week I'll figure out my schedule for September. It may be a bit less so I wanted to give people a heads up and it may not return back to the way things were for a few months.

But let me just get better, and in the mean time hopefully I can brainstorm some new worthwhile content as well!

And lastly let me just apologize. I feel like I've worried so many people and at the end of the day... it's my fault. I didn't realize my people pleasing and workaholic nature was getting OUT OF HAND. And here's the thing... I actually DID develop a good system to make sure I didn't overwork... But then July's incidents fucked that all up so it's thrown me all out of whack. I should have known better. I'll quit worrying people. I promise!

The whole point was that this was supposed to be a relaxing/happy place for you all.

Anyway, last lengthy post of the day. Have a wonderful rest of your day. I still need to film ACE but I'm going to do that tomorrow and force myself to heal today. I hope you all make time to rest yourselves as well.

those additions sound good!!! take care PD <3

I am really liking the ideas for these additions, especially the podcast! 😊 I really enjoy listening to podcasts and having one that shares kpop news be very interesting to listen to

Rania

try to work a little bit more on how to actually follow the correct mindset and in the meantime we re going to be here enjoying all the good content we receive from you. take care, both you and blaire <3

Ewtio

As a summer tier patreon, I really like those livestream changes! xd

kinara

yes pls heal and rest honestly pls take all the time you need🥺🥺 we literally understand

BaoziBang

Sounds good PD! BTW, as someone with an Anxiety Disorder (+ ADHD, BPD and Agoraphobia but well 😉) maybe try a DBT - Coach App for a few days. It might help, it might not help but in any case you will learn something about the way you worry ec.

Tesa

Very excited for the exclusive livestreams! Thank you so much PD! Can't wait to see what September brings :)

Violet Joo

Yay podcast! I think is not the amount of content that is important. Just be constant with your content. You will never be able to satisfy everyone but maybe the majority will be. Be yourself that's why many of us are here.

billie27

I’m actually very exciting about the podcast ! I like hearing you discuss about stuff lol ! You could make a poll about which topic people here want to hear about so it could maybe attract more people !

Ara J

Those new options sound great to me PD. I completely relate with the overworking yourself to please others type of mindset but i think that at the end of the day the only person you should be caring about in full is yourself. It’s okay and understandable to put pressure on yourself to support others but it should never be to the point where you feel like you need to please others( especially those that you don’t know on a personal level). I’m absolutely supportive of you just taking a break and shortening your work level for a while because you already have so much content that us fans can look at and enjoy in the meantime. So you really should get some rest PD, especially if your health is slowly deteriorating. We’ll always support you❤️

anejelly

I love the idea but please know that it's okay with us for you to take a break as much as you need it. I literally study for about 40 hours a weeks and i'm already exhausted, how much more is working for 70 hours a week. Looking forward on this tho!

dtona

as a summer tier patreon, i'm really happy with both ideas! i enjoyed the livestreams a lot so far and i'm specially excited for the podcast, it's always a good time hearing your thoughts and opinions on kpop news or just current topics. i appreciate you pd, please take care

Form of Therapy

Yes I didn’t realize I worked myself into a bad mindset so it’s hard but I’m going to focus on trying to walk out of it and into a correct one

Kei G

Running off the summer tier Livestream prio idea, maybe you could do a request channel where people can pay for certain requests they really want? I don't have a concrete idea how that'd work, but thought I'd throw it out there

rikki

pretty exciting, PD! hope you feel better soon. ive only been a patreon for a short time and the main reason is to see QUEENDOM,-RTK-KINGDOM SERIES, ONF, iKON, RV contents. which i am happy to know that this subscription is worth it because i was able to watch a lot of contents. i told myself i'll cancel after i watch everything i want in a month. but seeing your chedule in june for the first time, i was so interested in your variety and drama contents that i have no plans on cancelling anytime soon. it is so fun and as much as i want you to give the contents im waiting for. your health is as important. i will still watch it anyway. patreon notifications always get me excited just so you know. thank you for your hardwork as always!

Chris S

I really feel you on being mentally fucked up by the pandemic. My situation isn't the same as yours, but I've been realizing lately that my mental state has been a lot worse for a while than I've wanted to admit to myself, and it's also starting to affect me physically. It's having the opposite effect on me in terms of work. Where you're over-working, I'm finding myself struggling to find the energy to want to work at all. How about let's both try to find a common, healthy middle ground there?

Amanda Araujo

i really like the ideas! also i can't talk for everyone but intend to be here supporting you for as long as i can no matter the amount of content, you can't satisfy everyone so i just hope you can make peace with that and relax when you need to and not overwork yourself so you can not only make the content you wanna make but also enjoy it because even if you overwork yourself to produce a great amount of content it won't feel the same watching it if you're not healthy or feeling good while doing it, neither you or us will be enjoying it to its fullest

rockthekazb0t

DBT has definitely helped a couple of friends of mine, I hope PD will look into that while searching for the right therapist

BlooAS

I like the idea of maybe pushing more content to audio form as well. I realize that may be counter-intuitive with your content/expertise/background being so video focused but I (and maybe others) already listen to your content while doing other stuff that may not allow me to view the vids (i.e. work, driving). Big fan of the podcast before and maybe a way to produce content with less time as well (though this is speaking from a position where I'm assuming the video content would take significantly more time than if it was just audio).

April

LOVE the podcast content idea. The reason I first subscribed to your channel was for the unique perspective you provide on Korean content. My favorite videos of yours are the BTS law and Bullying discussion videos. I love the way you are able to articulate both Korean and American perspectives, as well as providing your own unique take.

CJoan Rodriguez

Love the ideas! Especially the podcast, that sounds great. But honestly, I love all of your content, so whatever you end up deciding and making I know I'll enjoy. Also, I feel you about the pandemic fucking with us all, especially with our mental health. I do wish you the best, and as many have suggested, I hope you are able to get tons of rest super soon ❤

R875d

I have been follow you on youtube since my last year on highschool .. Now I graduated from college, I earn my first tiny income so first thing I did with this little money is join your patreon.. You really made me think patreon is great place but I figure out that I love patreon just because your contents was fun and healing I don't know what is the point from my story is just I want to tell you, you'r doing great, It doesn't matter how much you love your hobbies, once there is a commitment it becomes a burden so It's okay to feel the contradiction I know this difficult time will pass, just remember there is stuff we can't change it, even if we worry about it too much, like in july I'm sure you took your precautions, but everything got out of hand So please don't blame yourself for things You can't stop it

R875d

It's okay to not have trust on others, just don't stop believing there is goodness in people

R875d

Much love I hope everything will be fine 💜🙏.. Have a great day

Julia Green

I love the ideas for the podcast and the summer tier request stream! In relation to everything you're feeling regarding mental health and trust issues...I unfortunately understand. The pandemic really made everything so much worse and has left lasting impacts on our mental health, physical health and personal stability. I hope everything will be fine physically for you soon and that hopefully that helps relieve some of the stress and the worry. I have an Anxiety disorder that is pretty debilitating at times and even though its been years its always a struggle to figure out how to handle it and during the pandemic...its been nearly impossible. but I keep reminding myself...you've made it through so many bad days, you can make it through a few more. Sending love and healing your way! Also no matter what you are able to post...I'll still be here supporting.

Belle Christina

PD I've been watching your videos for around 3 years now and you're the only creator that I've felt like I've connected to and felt like I can get healing from watching your videos. Last year I was nursing my cat who I'd had for 19 years of my life in her last stages of life. In the midst of so much anxiety and depression during that time, you reacted to one of my suggestions and I remember feeling so much genuine happiness for the first time in months. Your content has and continues to help calm my anxiety so much and I just want you to know that you have so many loyal people who you can trust in who will support you!

mistywolf the dragon rider

I just want you to know, you are the opposite of weak. Just the sheer amount of shit you have had to deal with in this past year or so, and beyond that, would be tough for anyone to handle. On top of that, it feels like the whole world has basically been in limbo since covid took off. It's really hard to stay positive when you are surrounded by constant negativity. I ended up seeing a therapist for the first time in my life last year because of the depressive and unmotivated state I was in. I think it's easy to lose sight of our own mental health condition, because it is something that we often feel the need to hide from other people. The great thing about a therapist is they are just there to listen to you and give advice, no strings attached. I hope you can find a good one that will help you to find a healthier balance in your life. It's important to do the things we love, but we also need to know when to stop and take a step back every once in a while ❤️ P.S. I really like both of these ideas :)

kim

these plans sounds good! and have a lot to say but i believe everyone has already told u (and scolded u hehe) what i would like to tell u as well so; rest up PD! genuinely and to your heart content just let yourself heal. take all the time u need :) will be hard cause mindsets and the routines we’re used to can’t be changed after a day, so we have to be consistent for it to stick properly. heal up and i wish u and ur closes ones the very best and lots of luck and healing <3 warm hugs from ur patrons!!

Betânia Camille Backes

I already said it before, but you're the opposite of weak. You've always fought. And it takes more strength to keep fighting when things go wrong than when everything goes right. Everyone is okay with fighting when everything goes according to the plan, but when it doesn't? Well, a lot of people just give up. I love both ideas, btw!

flowerbit

It’s ok if you lessen some of the variety content!! I do enjoy it, but I also don’t expect you to watch every single variety show for every idol. And you put out so many videos a day, I feel like that would be something hard to do in good health, let alone in times of difficult health (mental and physical).

epichugger

I really hope you see a psychiatrist or psychologist. all that anxiety and overworking is definitely not good for your physical and mental health and i hope the stomach issue is not something serious. i think as long as you don't keep doing the same groups on your patreon content youll be fine, but i think doing the monthly schedules really helps with people looking forward to content

K

don't know if this is the right thing to say but pd you would literally die trying to please everyone. but i hope it is an ulcer and i truly hope you find a good system thats better for your health. i'll sound like a broken record saying this but i really enjoy the content you make and would be supportive of changes! the two ideas you have sound good pd

Brianna

It’s gotten to the point where my inbox is filled with Patreon video that I have yet to watch as you put out so much content. I’m always weeks behind of drama club and boy group reactions. I can’t imagine how much time this takes to film. Taking a break and easing up on content can only be a good thing. We love your reactions and a healthy mind and body will only improve them. Take care of yourself 😊

sooshi

Wow now I just saw that there were two different posts- you can read my lengthy reply on the other one- but these two suggestions also seem good to me as long as YOU are content with it, and that it actually lessens your workload, I would suggest to limit the livestream length from your usual one though, or to take a little break in between (like you did one or two times, when stuff came up or something), I am sure no one would mind that I really hope you can get through that way of thinking, I know it is hard and it’s easy for people to say that are not in your shoes, but I still believe (even though I would second your thought of humans being the shittiest thing ever exist) that there are so many people here, that support you and that came here because of you and not because of the content, I mean I could watch all of it on my own and not care about your opinion at all after all, I hope you get what I mean! And even though I nearly never comment anything anywhere, I think that this is one of the times, that you should hear that from the (quiet like me or all other) people that will stick around no matter what!

Lavine Lee

those ideas sound good to me! Btw, maybe you should try meditating, I used to meditate everyday when I was going through probably the worst point of my life up until now, it really calms my mind and when I was meditating, I often break down and started crying in the middle of it but it was so healing and I still meditate now from time to time. PD please place your health as the first priority over anything else because we really care for you!

Marina

PD, don't feel sorry and don't treat yourself that harshly - even if it's the hardest thing to do. In terms of anxiety, I'm working on it with a therapist right now, and it's so tough, but I've learnt a useful thing - maybe you can use it too: you just check if your anxiety is positive or negative. The positive one, or more like a beneficial one, must bring some action. The negative, or counter-productive, is the one that only brings you more anxiety. When you feel especially anxious and you can't focus on anything else, ask yourself if there's anything you can do about it right now. If not, let it go for this moment, and plan an action for it if needed for the future. But don't live in this state all the time - though I know how hard is that, I'm so anxious about my health and future that sometimes I have breakdowns for weeks. Please give yourself some time, and rest, and love - you DESERVE it. Everyone does. Sending you my support, always!

mssmercedes

I think moving forward seeking the help is super admirable and will probably do you better than even anything supportive we can say. You're definitely the opposite of a weak person from everything that I can see over the last 3+ years

Chloe Borley-Evans

I'm so sorry that these things are weighing on you so badly, and it sucks that you've suffered so much through the pandemic. However understandable it is that you worry the way you do, I want to let you know that theres actually a select few qroups and content I enjoy watching here on your patreon, but I don't have to like everything to know that it's going to be something good and/or worthwhile. I'll probably always stay subscribed to this patreon because overall, it's you that I enjoy the most over the content you react to. Whereas with others patreons, I go in and out or completely leave, you're the one creator I've stayed with the whole time and I don't see myself cancelling my subscription anytime soon. I know this won't fix everything but I hope this helps lift your spirits a little bit :)

Lyra

You're a very strong person to pass thro all the kind of shit and still goes on... I'm already giving up on so much things for less s* happening...... I think anything you do would be fine! Tho, i'm summer tear and never got reacted on live stream, or even normal requests :T But that's okay, i'm still here cuz i like you as a person above an creator
