Hey everyone, wanted to brainstorm with everyone for new content for the summer patreon tier.

So I didn’t want to have to make this post but it’s been pretty bad the past few days and I feel like I have no choice.

I am officially taking on more than I can chew. As it currently stands I work about 70 hours more than the average monthly hours of a full time employee in America. I have been pushing and pushing myself for the growth of the Patreon but I’ve been hitting some roadblocks recently.

In the month of June I had a month long ulcer (google it). It was present in all my videos and I just fought through the pain but when the cameras were off I was screaming and crying my eyes out.

I pushed and held onto the pain for the sake of the work. I had a doctor’s appointment coming up in the first week of August anyway so I held on ‘till then.

And it was at my regular checkup that I told my doctor about my ulcer. That coupled with my symptoms, my doctor suspects that I may have stomach cancer. If you’re at all familiar with my origin story, you might think this would be the worst news on the planet, and you’re right it is. The possibility of having cancer has been eating away at me. What’s worse is that stomach cancer is extremely common amongst Koreans apparently due to our food????

I will not know until possibly September or November. I am having an ultrasound in September. If the cancer has grown it will be detected by the ultrasound. If it is still in the early stages it is not detectable by ultrasound and will need an endoscopy. My endoscopy consultation is in October and so I’m assuming the procedure will probably be November.

I haven’t told any of my family, only my partner because I figure she’d see this post anyway. I didn’t want to worry anyone for what may have just been an ulcer.

But the past month has been… hell. I don’t know if it’s just fatigue or overworking myself, but my body is in constant pain, I occasionally find myself trembling, my legs are always in pain and it hurts to be sitting, and I do vomit on occasion (for reference I have only vomited twice in the past 15 years and now I am finding the compulsion to vomit regularly).

It’s bad. It’s pretty fucking bad. I know I need to take a break but I can’t do that until I get ahead on Patreon releases again but with the current workload that’s not possible.

And mind you, the regular schedule was FINE but because we lost a month, it is becoming near impossible to keep up with these day to day. We’re just chasing each day release and not getting ahead at all.

So we really need to get ahead in September so that I can take a break in October but without dropping the ball on any content.

What this means is that I need to cut back on some variety content in September. Unfortunately, the variety content is the biggest contributor to making my schedule difficult because they are EXTREMELY time consuming. I will need to cut back a bit and in exchange do many more listening parties in September but also find some new content that would be less time consuming but things you’d like to see.

I’d like to hear from you guys the community to know what you’d all like to see on the Patreon that we haven’t done before. Depending on the difficulty of the execution I will weigh the options!

And as a side note, there’s no need for the “you should take a break”, “health comes first comments”. While some of you may feel that way, that is unfortunately not how capitalism works. Even just last month when I announced that we would be pausing some of our series, we lost nearly half of our revenue. It was so shocking that we still don’t know how to make rent this month. So I’m just gonna say fuck it and get back to working. I will bring back our intensive schedule in either October or November ONCE I actually get ahead.

So please sound off in the comments below!

So so sorry to hear this praying for good results PD ! Get well soon!

Harley

Maybe for listening parties you could do Deep Dives again but limit it to like 5-6 songs? Like have people submit what songs they feel like you would like especially for groups you may have missed their bsides? If you really like the songs then maybe do a Part2 for that artist/group. Variety content is so time consuming I understand and I think making you do livestream reactions are also time consuming so maybe that could be an in between to the livestreams and help with making more listening parties

hayun lee

i hope you feel better soon and its nothing serious! also as a korean, i personally have never heard of koreans in particularly getting stomach cancer and only have heard stuff about lung cancer due to extensive smoking so i dont think thats a real statistic? frankly a lot of those studies are rooted in colonialism and push blander western food as the standard for healthiness in order to maintain racism/classism so i never take those seriously.

Jeanett Sæther

Omg, I don’t really know what to write but i hope you get to figure out what is brining your pain, if it is the worst possibility Aka cancer. Then I hope it’s in the early stages but far enough to be figured out or maybe removed! 😩 Please take time off Where you need it, because this is no joke, you need rest💖 You film what you have strength for and we will still be here through it all!❤️ Please do not overwork yourself more even if you think that would make it better for us! Work healthy hours so that you get to pay your rent and what else you guys need! We will support you through it all! 🥰 We love you! 😋 Please keep us updated, but also keep what you need to yourself and your family! 🥰

Kpop_Platypus

Ah fuck, PD; you just can't catch a break. Well since you don't want concern & platitudes, I'll just say that I liked the couple of Kpop throwback videos you did a while back. Or you'd mentioned going back to some early TBZ music videos in your Thrill Ride reaction; it'd be fun if you picked an artist and did 2-3 of those at once. Fighting...?!

Viviena

For me any BTS content is great, music or variety be that Bon voyage or Run. Though I must say that I love their documentaries the most like Burn the stage series etc. I keep looking for new rectors who react to those. That said I will stick along for the next few months even if there will be zero content I'm interested in. I hope you get better soon and I hope it's not cancer. Love from Ukraine! <3

Taj carter

Maybe doing like a big reaction to like 4-5 from different groups or the same group depending if you’ve seen them or not. You could make it like a kick back session and discover new music! But sending prayers to you man, hope everything turns out okay ❤️🙏🏾

Amanda Bernström

ATEEZ is coming back September 13 so you can maybe post a reaction to their album? I hope you feel better soon !!

eli_nhdoaek

I think you can continue with watching healing or chill variety shows just like this month. I really enjoy it too! I think you should balance work and your health. If you really want to work while taking care of yourself then adjust the workload you have so you can do both! Intense variety shows can be very exhausting but healing and chill ones will give you time to rest. Both are equally good to be honest and i’ll enjoy whatever you watch 😅. Really praying that everything will be better soon!

Teagan

What if you tried to only do shorter series for now? Such as series with episodes that are 30 min or less. You could even try to limit it to one ep per week instead of doing two like you do with going seventeen

kinara

i- sorry this is a lot to process :( i hope it isn't the worse news possible because cancer isn't it and it it it i hope it's early honestly so then you can stop the spread immediately. honestly pls take time off pls it's much needed pls get loads of rest honestly🥺 i feel like honestly if you still want to keep content do listening parties like loads of them cause there has been sm great music releases this year and it might be nice for you idk🥺💗 and i think like healing content is good there is gonna be svt in the soop coming so that should nice for you to watch since you like bts in the soop sm. pls take rest honestly from the bottom of my heart pls take rest you need it and pls i hope you get better and it isn't the worse news possible🥺💔💗 pd stay happy and healthy💘

BaoziBang

I would love some short deep dives like 3-6 Songs or just you checking out Kpop/Korean Artists you aren't really familiar with. Something like a First Look Series maybe?! Maybe you could watch the BOATTA Episodes you haven't seen yet, those are like 20min if I remember right or resume the Show with Jangjun. E-tion from ONF also has a Show with Jaeyoon from SF9 now that's around 20min and a lot of fun (it feels like they go on blind dates if I'm honest 🤣)

Maf

So sorry to hear this PD. Honestly there are times in our lives that we ask ourselves why the hell things have to be this way... Unfortunetly there is no answer, but the truth is that we always come back stronger from them, and I am SURE this period will pass and brighter days will come again. I am sending lots of positive energy. Now, to answer your question, I have to say that I am here 90% because of TXT content. I know you have been doing it for a while now so I don't have anything to point out. If you want to continue with TXT, the TO X DO episodes are less than half an hour long, but another series is ONE DREAM which has 8 episodes (I think the ep are longer, so it might be too much for you) or even continue with TALK X TODAY. I look forward to hearing about the schedule. Wish you all the best :) I'm sure you'll come back even stronger. Everything will be fine.

Pooge

Maybe you could go back to reacting to live stages/dance practices and putting those out since you used to react to them a lot during livestreams? (But you’ve since stopped streaming for the time being) However, if that’s more effort than the variety content, then, I think the more healing and shorter variety content is perfect! Wishing you all the best and a healthy future!

BaoziBang

South Korea actually has the highest Rate of Stomach Cancer, followed by Mongolia and Japan if I remember right. I think... It had to do with the amount of salt, fermented foods and broiling/stewing instead of pan cooking but don't quote me on that.

Daniela

Well, shit. I really hope everything can go as smooth and painless as possible for you. Now about the content hmm to be honest with you i would watch anything and everything related to bts and txt.

WiseSmellyLegs

Well, I am speechless... I wish you the best and I do hope it is just some fucking ulcer! (Thank You for a new vocabulary by the way) I would really appreciate some Throwback Thursday reactions again. I enjoyed them a lot!

Jana

Not sure if this would be less time consuming than variety but maybe doing videos focused on different k-artists where you haven’t checked out any bsides before. So instead of listening to all albums back to back we could recommend a few you might like for you to check out and you could even check out stage performances if there are some! Or you could even look into concert performances of some artists? This would be similar in style to the shorter videos you released last week in replacement of the livestreams! Or maybe you could do some mini podcast style videos where you just sit down and kind of discuss you thoughts on latest k-news or comebacks or literally anything you want to talk about 😊 Just throwing out random thoughts not sure if any of that would actually cut down on time or make things easier 😅 But anyways I really hope that it’s not cancer PD and that if it is it’s early stages and can be managed/controlled before it gets too serious!

Mima

That’s HORRIBLE I’m so sorry to hear that! :( praying your results come all a-okay and any procedures you’ll get done will do the trick! You’re a fighter PD, chin up! (And also an inspiration with your mentality, honestly, pushing through this stuff is so so hard but you do it every time. It’s a great quality and shows just how strong you are. Really really wishing only the best for you.) Variety content definitely does seem time consuming…. Honestly don’t even know what you could do instead since you already do pretty much everything we want….. the only idea I have is maybe doing a certain number of groups and just diving into any music you may have missed from them/albums that kind of stuff? I know listening parties are hard too but if you decide on a few groups at a time and not the ENTIRE thing all at once…… maybe…? I hope you find a solution swiftly!! All the best!

Rania

I think that the listening parties idea is good because it s relaxing to just hear new music. I d also say to keep some varietys that are not exhausing to film and in exchange for the ones you decide to pause you can find really short ones like hwaiting which is so short they literally filmed it all in a day but entertaining or you can do some dive podcasts. those are long but you basically just listen and watch them talk and you have plenty of options like the Eric Nam ones where you have a lot of celebrities like jessi, the boyz, chungha, enhypen, soon txt, that are nice interviews or you have get real with peniel bm and ashley where they have certain topics for every episode (idols related or not) and you can just choose episodes that seem interesting enough. you said not to come with the 'take a break comments' but I think it s time to film more content that YOU enjoy and will at least feel like a nice break for you

April

First and foremost, sending you all the positive vibez I can right now. Cancer Limbo sucks, especially when the results take forever to come in. As for new content, would love to see some sit down videos of you just talking about your opinions on different aspects of the kpop industry, your favorite (or least favorite) trends, ranking your favorite groups, etc. Not sure if this kinda content would be more or less time consuming, but would still love to see it.

Loretta

Oh man PD, you really can’t catch a break. I’m so sorry all this shits coming at you so much. I hope that everything will be ok💙 I think the content you’ve been doing recently is great! The chill vibes of most of your content and then drama clubs.

Belle Christina

:( sending my deepest prayers to you, you’re literally my favourite person to watch for healing when i’m going through a tough time, it doesn’t seem fair at all that you help so many people and you still have to go through so much pain.

kaylee franco

maybe you should check live stages or concert live stages of groups/idols that you like or that patreons recommend the live concert stages they like similar with diving deeper but with concert stages it will be fun to watch your reaction to those kind of stages

Oyku T.

Maybe an idea could be to do shorter variety shows, instead of usual hour long idol varieties 20-30 min long youtube varieties can be less time consuming, some that comes to my mind are inssa oppa, mmtg, or some idols like Soyou, Chungha or Wonho have their own YouTube channels and vlogs

Izak

So sorry to here this, sincerely hoping for a good results in September for you. Continuing this BG and GG group request thing ur doing in place of streams could also be nice but limit it to live performances or award show stuff or dance practices not sure if that's less time consuming than variety content those listening parties is definitely a good idea Maybe rather than long variety, short variety stuff like interviews or things were they talk and u get to know members of groups more, like logs Idk if this is less time consuming but getting to know groups series so rather than like long variety content, people can recommend a few songs or short videos or something that will help u get to know groups u want to know more about a little bit, kind of like the deep dives u use to do Not sure if this is helpful but it's the best I could think of for now 😭

CJoan Rodriguez

Aw man, lo siento, PD. I really hope that you heal and recover soon and that it turns out not to be a life-threatening health issue. Also wishing that you truly get a chance to take a break soon to rest and heal, but I sadly understand that this is a capitalist world. But I hate that world, so I'm sticking with your patreon 💕 As to suggestions for content, etc: personally, I love the listening parties. I've been enjoying checking those out, as one of my greatest passions in life is music. To the point that I am ok if you just do more listening parties. They have helped me find new music and artists and songs to check out and listen to. I am even ok with doing listening parties to songs released years ago. Hell, even popular songs decades ago! If you choose to do something else, I'm cool with that, too 😎 Edit: Anything related to Mamamoo is always welcome for me 💗

R875d

Oh my god... I read this post several time.. I will pray for you, may this is just ulcer, hope you will get better soon. I don't know what I can say, somhow I feel so bad that I can't do anything. Just to know we really appreciate your hard work 🙏... For contents right now nothing come to my mind, but I will be here even if the next month doesn't have anything I like.. That is my way to say thank you 💜🙏

Y

Okay first good luck with all your doctor stuff. Even if it's not the big C ulcers are pretty painful anyway . Second you can try voice only stuff for the listening parties so it's like radio or a pod cast except their are stuff playing on screen and you can do it from your bed. And maybe do suggested clips from the variety shows instead of sitting through hours of them. I know some of your stuff will still be hours long but atleast with voice only you can be comfortable while doing it

Sandy Cai

I don't know how patreon works for creators, but its gonna be a big help if you know what contents does all of your patreons watch. Maybe do a poll so that you can identify which contents you are putting out have less viewers. Maybe some of the time consuming videos aren't actually gaining you anything.. I'm here mostly for Stray kids, Jessi's stuff, I liked Sixth Sense and some of the dramas.

Sherry

So sorry to hear about you condition PD 🥺 I think you can reduce the drama club maybe? And divide/reduce the variety stuff to 2 posts daily rather than a whole 3-4 posts daily cus i swear you are the only patreon i’ve seen having so much contents posted daily 😭 Although its good that you try to do more contents, its so worrying bcs the workload seems too much for me. Try not to pick up new variety stuff for now and finish what was already out and maybe after you have finished some of the series then you can start other new variety series. If having lesser variety contents made you a bit anxious, try do short clips reactions like you used to do before? I mean like live stages, choreography videos, japanese MVs, old MVs (i heard you are interested to do this for TBZ) or songs that are not in albums (like what you did for TBZ sunwoo berry). Or maybe take some of the patreon requests (short videos and clips/songs. No variety series) and post them as contents. I think these will be more interesting as you will always have contents to post and not as time consuming as variety series. This way you can reduce the amount of times to do live streams too, lesser workload. Anyways, will still be supporting whatever contents that you put out PD. Praying that you will have a smooth and speedy recovery as well as good news for your health check-up results 💞💞💞

Amanda Araujo

omg i really hope this doesn't turns out to be worse news and you get better PD! as for the content maybe you can do some shorter series or bring back the Deep Dives as some people mentioned

heebindidthat

Some shorter form variety content include Enhypen's "en-o'clock", which is about 30 minutes per episode.

Caitlin

Maybe bring back Japanese MVs - mvs are short and you can do reactions or a series of them and put them on Patreon Also shorter deep dives into groups like maybe ask for 4-5 songs or even less from patrons to explore songs from groups you might not have heard

shaunamac

i’m so so sorry to hear about this news PD and i know no amount of words will change situation or help in anyway but i am sending you all the positive thoughts and idk if it means much, but i will also keep you in my prayers💛 i joined mostly for treasure map but if needed you cut down on those for a bit? they have shorter series such as 3 minute treasure, treasure TMI or even treasure studio to watch the process of creating their line friends series? also i’m not sure how much stray kids content you’ve watched as i haven’t caught up but their two kids series are always shortish and they have quite a few? or if you want any other things i would be so happy to watch reactions to live performances, dance practices, even interviews?

h.

i'm so sorry to hear this PD and i really hope things get better. as for suggestions, i was thinking, how about instead of completely cutting down on variety content, why don't you cut them in half? like, you could react to the first 30 minutes and do the next 30 minutes for the following week. surely that will save time

Betânia Camille Backes

Hey, PD! I don't consume much variety content, to be completely honest. Sometimes I may watch an episode for a group that I follow, but it's rare. I also don't watch many drama club episodes either. I'm on the summer tier mainly because I like to support you, but I consume almost only reaction content from the spring tier. That said, I believe that one thing I would enjoy would be if summer tier requests were prioritized on live streams or request posts. I don't really know if it is doable, but it's something that I would enjoy. You wouldn't have to create more content, it just would change who gets their requests seen first. Maybe it would also motivate some spring tier patrons to join the summer tier. Of course, I have no idea if other summer patrons would also enjoy it, it is just my personal take. Another idea would be a summer tier podcast or talk stream. I would also enjoy those. As a side note, I want to compliment you on the request posts. Even though less content comes out, I think it is a great way of including more diversity of groups and requests. These comments aside, as someone who dealt with an ulcer for a long time, I'll tell you something you probably already heard thousands of times. Try to stay away from spicy food, coffee, carbonated drinks, and anything that is too acidic (aka oranges, limes...), it really really helps, along with the medication. It takes a lot of courage to make a post like this and to keep fighting even when things go out of the plan so often. I can only imagine how hard it must be, and even though I don't know you personally, I can tell that you're a very strong person and I admire you. I'll be cheering for your recovery and for your health!

Daniela Padilla

Hey PD, im so sorry. I hope everything turns out to be ok. I'll be praying for you.

Marcela Pereira

Oh wow, PD. I hope you get all the results as soon as possible because I know the waiting is hell. But about the content, I guess since everyone is actually excited about the deep dives or you checking out b-sides those would be the best choices right now. I suggest you choose a group & ask for our fave b-sides to check out and do the most mentioned ones? For deep dives, too. I guess these are less time consuming but I'm not really sure.

Dianne

I am personally just here for TREASURE Map so I guess for variety shows, it's better to retain the shows that are under 30mins (like TMAP). I suggest to cut down from shows that takes a long time to film. Listening party is also kinda time consuming and most of the time, I iust check the replay and will only watch 1 or 2 videos so filming some reaction videos would be better. Maybe, you can also cut down with drama club because you have a loooot these days and it's usually a 1 hr per episode. That's my two cents. I hope everything goes well with you, PD.

Bee

I think the most time consuming content are the drama clubs at the moment. You’re doing like 4 different shows (?) I think you can put some on hold until another time or even until the end of the year. I’ve seen someone say do a poll and what is it they most people watch on here, maybe do that. But maybe just do requests/livestreams and just set out the individual posts through the week. Get better soon!

Tesa

Hi PD! I'm so sorry to hear about this! Wishing you all the best and hoping it isn't anything actually serious <3 I think the best way to determine what to film is doing a poll on the variety you are currently watching and that which has been paused and then seeing what the patrons prefer aka what is the most loved and anticipated. I'm not sure introducing something completely new is the best way to go? Idk, I personally haven't been the biggest fan of all the healing shows, but have instead been looking forward to Treasure Map and GOSE which you have already been reacting to. Drama Club is also one of my favourites also because many of us interact in the comments and I love reading those :) Hope this helps! I look forward to whatever you decide!

SnoozinLucci123

I'm a relatively new patron, but I think you're right! maybe taking a break from longer variety shows is a good idea. I can see how much time those could take for you to film. I've seen some people mention more dance practices/performance videos/live stages which i think could be a good idea! For variety on the shorter side, Time to Twice is always a relaxing time and episodes usually don't exceed 25 min. I'm sure other groups have similar shows to check out too! I know a lot of groups do promo interviews when they have a comebacks, like with Jessi's Showterview or Jae Jae's MMTG. those might be fun little videos to check out. All the best PD!

CladJisoo

Hi PD. I would suggest Loona's content since the comeback. There's a lot of short videos + Hauteur the mission with Heejin and Chuu, Chuu can do it, Nadol videos, the Loona TVs, and long ones like Fact In Star and Idol League. They are still as funny as they were in the past comebacks so it may help you! :) Fighting!

Marina

I'm so sorry PD, and I also relate to you so much - how come we're both not even 30 yet and so sick lol?? I also have a few things that need surgeries, so that sucks - anyways, I'm wishing you all the best, please try to stay on the bright side while waiting for the appointments/results, miracles do happen! I think that an idea to cut off the Drama Club is the most logical one - I'd say that anything that is longer than 20-30 minutes is too much for you now, and I personally don't follow the Drama Club right now because there's so much content. Someone mentioned it already - maybe reacting to some Japanese M/Vs could be cool. On the sidenote, have you considered a change for the listening parties? Like a short summary of what you think/maybe you discussing the songs and adding a few seconds long genuine reaction to it? I don't know, up to you:) And remember, this shall pass too

Donslaught

Hey PD, I'm sending you good thoughts and well wishes. Pain is shitty no matter how you slice it. Honestly I'm just here for you. It doesn't matter what you watch or listen to, I'll watch it. I've been going through the Kulture Study episodes all the way back to the beginning and I'm watching all of them because I want to hear what you have to say about it. I know you usually don't put out videos for something you don't like and if you like something there's a pretty good chance I'll like it too so I've been broadening my K-Pop horizons. As for content suggestions, I don't know how up for live content you are but I'd love to have some live listening parties. If not, then just listening parties in general and Kulture Studies. I mean, those are what got us all here in the first place, right? And you could do Patreon exclusive reactions for stuff like performance MVs. Maybe just do one variety reaction per day, one longer one (like Sea of Hope) per week? Something like that. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not here for you to make me happy, I'm here to watch you be happy doing what you love, that's why I subbed. Just keep doing you, PD.

Anonymous

BTS Burn the Stage is relatively short you could crank those out real fast and have something for 2 months of weekly uploads. Hope it won't be too serious with your health.

Catrin

Sorry PD, that's a lot to cope with. In terms of content, like a few people have suggested you could bring back throwback thursdays. I dont know how time consumingthey were to edit, but at least they're a shorter watch. I also like the idea of deep diving into groups you're less familiar with. Maybe posting in advance what groups you want to tackle for the week or month and then getting people to suggest short (like max 5/10 min) videos to get to know them better.

CJoan Rodriguez

Sorry for making a second post, but just read a few suggesting reactions to Japanese M/Vs and I'm down with this, too. I also prioritize checking out the content related to songs, M/V reactions, listening parties, and dramas. I rarely check out the variety shows.

mssmercedes

This was my first thought, while dramas are my favorite content here I can understand that they are significantly time consuming and having four on the go might not be the best so cutting down would free up a lot of your time to focus on rest and recovery.

Anonymous

I’m so sorry to hear this and I hope things get better soon! As far as variety content goes, I’d really like to see you continue with Dreamcatcher mind, if you’re able to. But if you have to delay that, it’s completely understandable. Variety shows take time. Feel better!

twomillionmerits

i know what that cancer limbo is like. i hope your results are the opposite of mine! to add to the pool, i definitely think it'd be good to have us vote for the drama we wanna see at the moment on the channel and cut it down to one at a time, bc drama episodes are already time consuming and you're doing a hell of a lot of them right now. maybe one or two variety shows, and i like the idea that we've been using for just commenting BG/GG recs since livestreams are broken! just choosing a few select ones from those lists would be cool with me. sending u love, PD ❣️

Réka O.

I'm so sorry to hear this PD. I'll keep thinking of you and rooting that you get the best possible results. And of course, I'll never stop supporting you here on Patreon! I'll try and raise my pledge little by little every month and hope that it helps a bit 💜 My suggestion is a bit different than what you asked but I have an idea as to how you could maybe get more patrons. I think if you had a publicly available catalog of all the Patreon content or if you posted like once a month the Patreon schedule on your YouTube channel with info about how cheap the pledges actually are, I think you could get a lot more people to subscribe. I always read the comments under your YouTube posts and most of the stuff people are asking for is already on Patreon. I often respond to these comments and they're always so surprised and they have no idea that they could watch so much content for just $2 or $10. Some of them even signed up for Patreon after that, I think. Sorry if you tried something like this and it didn't work, I just thought a lot of your YouTube followers don't even know what exactly is on your Patreon. As for the content, I'll honestly be happy with anything, I watch everything you upload. Maybe shorter reactions like the ones you asked for before last week, the ones that would usually be in the livestreams? I know those make a lot of people happy and I guess they don't take up too much of your time. Sorry about the long comment, get better soon PD and fighting!!

mssmercedes

I'm heartbroken to hear that you've been having such a rough time over the last few months I know it must feel like Murphy's law but I do believe in optimism and would rather us all be worried about an ulcer above anything else. As far as suggestions go I think there have been a lot of good ones but pretty much anything in the 45 minute plus range could go on hold and I would say maybe focus on the type of "one off" content that groups sometimes put out with channels like hello 82, cosmopolitan, variety etc those videos tend to be around the 15 minute mark. Also no matter what kind of content you do you have to schedule in your breaks even if you're doing shorter videos if sitting too long isn't good then that habit has to change cuz watching four 15 minutes videos or one one hour long video will still be the same amount of working.

mistywolf the dragon rider

Yeah I think this is a good idea to choose a couple groups to focus on every week or so, and there is a lot of shorter content on YT that I'm sure people would want them to react to.

rockthekazb0t

I forgot when I became a patron - has it been 3 years? 4? So clearly I'll keep supporting no matter what, even though I had to stop being a Winter tier because of job changes. One of the things I watch the most are the drama club reactions but even I agree that 4 is too many at once with everything else your watching. Either go back to one series at a time, or do one lighthearted and one intense series at a time.

I hope you feel better soon PD . I think you can do listening parties but with themed polls for example one week can be 3rd gen only another 2020 rookies or label focused. And once a group is chosen it can not be in a poll again for the month. that way you are sure to have content that can satisfy more people. for variety superM as we wish series and Mtopia are both on the short side so it could be a good idea to check it out. you could do something like discovery friday where you check out suggestions for groups or short variety you have not seen before. it can be a 30/45 minutes video that can replace one episode of drama club on Friday.

PD ulcers can be very painful and may sometimes the symptoms are similar to cancer. I am a doctor and I will recommend you to not to stress so much because stress is one of the biggest reasons of cancer (more than the korean food. And nowadays here in Korea doctors and many studies have shown that stress is one of the main causes. As you know koreans are always in a lot of stress). But I also know that you have to worry for so much 😔. I suggest that you cut some variety stuff that is getting the less views. Also maybe stop one or two drama clubs? Listening parties are super good. I used to love your podcast. The podcast doesn't have to be so long. I would like to rant about many things cuz as a doctor I think your always taking so much and I have to say that I wish you cut somethings and take more time to relax and workout. Please PD just take care.

There is actually a lot of short-form content for many groups on YT, things like vlogs and small variety-type segments. I think it would be great if you choose one or two groups every week and just react to a few of these types of videos from them. I know these videos are usually popular with fans so I think there would be a lot of people willing to watch them. You could also ask for requests that are under a certain time limit and pick a few at random, but I think some structure would help because in general people like having something to look forward to. That's just my ideas, overall just try to make sure you aren't overexerting yourself, I know you need to keep putting out content but you can still take it a bit easier and make sure to keep your health as your main priority.

Chatise Smith

Have you thought about getting a personal assistant to help edit everything, so all you have to do is watch/react? Granted that takes more money than just doing it yourself, but it would remove some of the stress (maybe). Anyways, hope you feel better, I'll keep subscribing bc I'll probably like whatever you do post and if you don't, I know I'm helping someone and not just blowing money on myself. Have a good day

Hi PD, I’m sorry to hear this and I hope your prognosis gets better in the following months. As far as content, by just doing a quick skim through your Patreon posts, it seems like Vincenzo, Itewon Class, and pretty much any BTS content gets the highest amount of engagement (especially BTS content), so I would keep those from a business stand point. Personally, I stick around mostly for BTS content so any additional variety related to them sounds like a good idea. I would probably reduce the number of drama clubs (I only follow 1 or 2 at a time, 4 is too many) and cut out any variety’s that are too long AND have low supporter engagement.

Jana

Instead of longer variety shows maybe you could do short form content for the groups instead? That way you could still do a lot of different groups but it would be a lot less time consuming. For example lots of groups have like 10 minute youtube videos/interviews with variety or buzzfeed or may even upload their own short vlogs (e.g bangtan bombs etc.) so that could be a fun alternative!

EB

Personally, although I enjoy most of the content, my favorite is the recent BTS stuff. The docuseries are only 25-30 minute episodes (at least Burn the Stage is). For Bon Voyage episodes maybe you could split the episodes in two and release one half at the beginning of the week and the other half at the end? Or even just one half every week? Just trying to think of anything that will give you max content that is less time consuming. And breaking things up into shorter reactions could be used on other groups’ content as well.

i hope everything ends up going well PD and that you feel better quickly ❤️🥺 maybe u cld upload one variety ep a day and take on one kdrama at a time instead of four variety shows a day and four kdramas // that way theres still content every day just not as much to film as before // i’ve been a summer patreon for over a year now and any kind of format wld be fine tbh // choose grps and dramas u enjoy filming and it wont be as tiresome i hope ❤️❤️

PD, I've lost track of how long I've been supporting your patreon-- your videos are pretty much the highlight of my day and I look forward to every new week of content. As a summer tier I love to watch a bit of everything, variety and drama clubs, but I did feel you were taking on a lot at once with 4 shows (even on my days off I could not physically watch all 4 series just in one day). I just think I'd recommend scaling down the drama clubs for a bit, right now as you've completed Itaewon Class maybe consider not picking another drama up until you're able to handle the workload again. As many others said, maybe putting some other variety with low engagement on hold as well. Also, I do have a suggestion about maybe getting more patrons from your YouTube audience, maybe when you are posting regularly again you can do a weekly summary for what you post on Patreon on your YouTube community tab, I think it would attract more people if they know exactly what content is being uploaded. I've seen a few other reactors do this. Like, if you've planned ahead for the week, maybe a post like "Here's what's planned for the week of ___/___ on our Patreon!" and list out what will be uploaded based on their tier and price so people know that it's honestly really affordable to get a LOT of content. This is just a suggestion of course and over everything else I am sincerely wishing for your health. I had a cancer scare in my family last year and it was such a mental and emotional toll for everyone, hoping you and Blaire will get through this.❣️

im so sorry PD, life is really giving you the short end of the stick all the time. hopefully it’s an ulcer and not anything worse 🤞 as for content, i’d suggest shorter variety that are just one video or a few episodes (a lot of groups do those buzzfeed videos or you could do stuff similar in length to those p1harmony videos u did a while back). that way you 1) won’t be as stressed about filming and releasing reactions to longer series, 2) videos are shorter so less filming, and 3) the least important reason, but you can probably react to more groups. i would also suggest cutting back on kdrama reactions. more focus on kulture study videos would be nice too :)

Isabella N.

you could also just choose videos from the request posts since most of them are short and you can pick what seems interesting to you (ur fave groups, groups u wanna know better, less popular groups, whatever u feel like)

Violet Joo

Also what about making a tier between autumn and winter? I always wanted to support you a little bit more but I could not afford winter tiers. So what about a 50 tier in between? 😅

Anna Kariawil

2020 was a shitty year, and 2021 is not much better for many of us, I guess. It's very sad to hear such news about you, but I hope everything is not as bad as it seems. And I am very sorry that I had to go down from autumn to summer because of my unemployment. But I will definitely stay at this level as long as I can no matter what. As for content, I personally watch mostly Drama Club and Listening Parties. Suggestion reactions were good too. So, all the variety may go completely. But of course this is just my opinion

Leen

I think you should cut some of the drama club 4 shows is not easy

Fadi - moonlight

I'd say now that itaewon class has finished and we are near the end of imitation, don't replace those shows. Just continue with the 3 other shows. At one point you were doing 5 dramas at once and while we appreciate it, it's just not manageable cuz they take way too much time. I hope it turns out to be a pesky little ulcer. I'll support you no matter the frequency of the uploads! Just know that there is a fanbase who won't leave you when life gets hard. Stay strong PD!

newcarsmell

Damn PD, really sorry to hear that. Hope you pull through! In terms of content, I admit I only tend to watch the content of groups (all of them girl groups) I personally enjoy, and haven't ever checked out the drama club stuff tbh. But I guess I'm in the minority here. I guess you should focus more on the stuff that gets you the most engagement, and cut down on the less popular content. I think the listening parties would be a good idea, people like those and they might be less strenuous than watching variety shows. In terms of content you could do, maybe the Loona vlogs? They are the members' personal vlogs, they tend to be pretty short and are also edited and put together by the members themselves, so it could be interesting for you. You could also do deep dives instead of the variety content, like you did with Red Velvet - ask people to vote on the best bsides, give them a listen and give your opinions. Anyways, I really hope your tests come back negative, and try and take care of yourself in the meantime.

Maria

I would suggest to stick with the content that makes you feel the best right now. like how when you watched Sea of Hope and was shocked the ep was already over... you were able to focus on it enough to not pay any mind to how you might be feeling. any content like that whether it be Drama Club, Reality, Variety, or even listening parties (which would be a shorter form and easier to do), as long as you are enjoying it and it's not feeling like work to you - that's what you should go with. hope you start feeling better soon.

oranguchang

I guess you never prayed harder for an ulcer over cancer before! I can't imagine the stress you are currently dealing with over the millions of questions this puts in your mind about your future, recovery, income etc. I follow you because I like your measured opinion on just about anything. I am really pleased you started watching ACE on the road because it really is healing and they are my current ults. But I do enjoy all of the content that I have time to watch. Us multi fans also run out of time to watch content as well so don't beat yourself up too much.

Liz

For drama club maybe you could keep vincenzo and flower of evil since it seems like they're the ones with most engagement and cut the others, or waiting to finish those you're watching until you decide to start another since drama club takes a lot of time. As for variety since it also takes a lot of time you could keep the ones you think are the most healing and also cut the ones with the lowest engagement until things get better, I think this way you won't lose a lot of your public and for this problem maybe you could try posting the content you'll be doing on youtube's community tab so people can consider joining the patreon for it. Also selecting the most requested b-sides for listening parties of some groups you aren't familiar with like some ppl suggested and continuing the BG and GG requests instead of the livestreams also can be a good idea. If you're searching for shorter videos in the line of 5-10min I'm sure some groups have those behind the scenes/vlogs type of content content that may be fun like BTS Bangtan Bombs and TXT's T:Time/ TXT Episode; For the ones with 20-35min maybe some documentaries or some interviews, for example BTS docu series and BE-hind interviews.

Hi PD, sending you all the good vibes and hoping you hear back good results on your health! I joined your Patreon to watch I-Land and have stuck around to watch content primarily for groups I follow (BTS, Enhypen, TXT, NCT, TBZ). Additionally what has kept me around is your commentary (especially your producer perspective and understanding of the Korean culture). Potential Recommendations: MON-WED • Singular Group Watch Party — Pick 1 group a day and watch # short-form videos. Kinda like a stream but not live. Upload as one video with a time stamp in the description. • Easy editing, a variety of content, and can satisfy different audiences • Can be a mix of B-sides, live performances, interviews, dance practices, short-form variety, the groups’ YouTube content, etc. THURS (Since this has been a joy for you and others!) • Healing Content — cut back to only 1-2 shows since these tend to be long-form FRI • Drama Club — cut back to only 1-2 shows since these tend to be long-form SAT • Listening Party Day

I personaly prefer reactions to shorter videos anyway (sounds like that is also easier for you). Stuff like dance and song covers of different groups, relay dances, behind the scenes of MV productions, ... Most groups have them an most of the time these videos are just around 3-5 min but still super impressive or interesting. For variaty, you could react to some self made variaty shows of some groups or interviews (Jessis Showterviews are always fun). Those videos are also short (10-20 min) Still hoping for you to continue Dreamcatcher mind, for example :) Wishing you all the best!

even though I am summer tier, I rarely watch summer tier content when it comes out, so it does not matter to me if you cut back a bit in content, I mean who has time to watch all of it anyway? So my first suggestion would be for YOU to chose, which content YOU like to film, be it a drama or a specific variety show (that you already started) and limit it to two or three. For starting new shows I would suggest not to do it during September, because that only means you will have EVEN more to finish in the months after that! Then maybe add one or two most requested ones (make a poll about it and do not include the ones you want to continue anyway) and post these throughout the week (1 per day Monday to Tuesday/Friday) As many people said, you could also include some healing content, there might be some that you can’t finish this month, so why not continue them next month? And as also many people said: react to shorter stuff, like you did this month, that way you will have lots of content coming out, to please people you could also make a poll for that, like you get WAY TO MANY suggestions on your post, so you could pick out 3-5 options that you would be interested in per poll (do several polls if its not enough) and ask what people want to watch the most, that way you could have more content for spring tier as well (if its short reactions that would normally go to a livestream session), but summer tier and up could have a choice in the content Also I think posting a list on youtube really could help bringing in more patrons too, here I would even suggest to bring back some old stuff, I am not sure how patreon works with already posted stuff, but you could even re-post some things, I am sure, especially new patrons might find something “new” that they have not watched yet even though you reacted to it a while ago Also it would help to post lists of reactions you did in livestreams somewhere, I know that there are comments of lovely patrons who even put the timestamps and reactions in the comment below the livestream so that would not be too much work (by the way, if you or blaire need any help with that or some other stuff, hit me up- while I cannot spare more money right now, because I am living of my own savings for quite some time now, I may have some time to spare for you where I could help you organize some stuff ) I know you don’t want to hear that as you mentioned in the post, however as someone who is faced with sick parents (a cancer patient and a depressive one) as a nursing relative staying at home for now, I want to let you know, that foremost you should try to lessen the stress on yourself! Even if (and I really hope for that) it is no cancer, you still got an ulcer because of all the stress (and maybe due to other reasons), so going back full force afterwards will not be good for you in the long run! I know you probably think I need to make money to provide everything for my family and stuff 24/7 and that for itself is already stressful enough, and I know its hard for you to do it, but it would be even worse if you could no longer film anything in a few months because the situation got only worse

holls

I know you advertise the patreon on the Kulture Study alot but I only joined when you specifically mentioned in videos that you watched In The Soop and I-Land. I joined with the plan of watching them and then unsubscribing but realised you do so so much content that I enjoy and of so many groups I love, and now I’m here to stay (if only to just work my way through your old stuff) . I don’t think I can stress enough how much I think doing a youtube post with a list of some of your most popular content such as Queendom/Kingdom/RTK/InTheSoop/ILand and some of your listening parties since I don’t think alot of new YT subscribers realise that they’re patreon exclusive now. You could even do what Dezzy does at the end of his videos (if I remember correctly haven’t watched in a while) where he adds a 5 sec clip from his Patreon reacting to content related the group in the video that’s just finished. As someone who has a debilitating chronic illness caused by stress one of my biggest regrets is not taking it easy preemptively instead of letting it all build up, getting severely ill and having whole months out of commission. I hope things get better for you- I’ll keep my fingers crossed <3

mssmercedes

I agree I think you can leverage all the existing content on here that people don't know about to continue to drive new patrons there is so much to catch up on that it would probably take someone joining now months to do so.

mssmercedes

One last idea for helping you cut back is I've always wondered about your thoughts on music video "behind the scenes" or "filming of"like if you took some of your favorite culture studies and watched the MV shooting I think it would be fascinating to hear your observations and it's something almost every group does for every comeback.

Cadmium

Hi PD! I'm sorry you're going through the wringer right now and I hope everything works out for you. Since you don't want the "health comes first" talk, I'll skip straight to the capitalism lol... here are some ideas to help convert your YouTube audience to patreons. - React to the trailers of the shows you're going to watch for Patreon and post it on YouTube as a preview to entice people to join and also let them know what they're missing out on - Post your monthly Patreon schedule on your YouTube community posts as well - In your MV reactions on YouTube, if you're also watching that group's variety content on Patreon, mention it and the series name - Also when you're looking for new variety/ drama suggestions (in the far far future because I know you have a lot going on right now) also ask for suggestions in your YouTube community post. This way more people feel invested in your journey/ decision making/ brand, and hopefully, they will follow you here! (Coming from a marketing background, its always good to have more people feel like they have a say or helping hand in your growth) I hope this helps because you really deserve it all PD

If it's okay with you, explore more content in ODG, hello82, Dingo, Arirang, etc. because they're short and entertaining for me. You get to know the artists more quickly but in a fun way. The question parade is one of my favorites! Cut back on Kdramas. Watch more live stages, radio performances, or groups' short video content. Like, "TMI" or "3-Minute Treasure". When I told my friends you are reacting to TMAP here on Patreon, they joined you here. Even I was surprised 'cause I signed up only expecting YG Treasure Box. You really should post your schedule on YT, PD.
