That good, huh 😂 Edit to add: Contrary to the popular pick Cast Pearls Before Swine, my favorite bside is actually 2am(second is So Why) ! Something about how smooth and jazzy it is without being boring, and how well it highlights their beautiful vocals. It gives me a cozy feeling 💕

Ebony Coco

This album is so good, and the fact they worked on most of the songs and Yuki wrote all of her raps... they are monsters. As for Yuki's glow up, she said she still isn't fluent in Korean so she tries to stick her raps to having simpler words that she already knows, and if she has something she wants to say but don't know the exact Korean words to express it, she goes to any member closest to her and they all help her. She has also been getting mentored by Moonbyul privately.

i can't be the only one that gets reminded of ONEUS' BLACK MIRROR whenever i listen to So WhY, it's like the tamer little sister of that song. ever since my first listen i can not get the thought of it out of my head

Marcel Wannieck

The term "Cast pearls before swine" actually comes directly from the bible. It's a proverb adapted from a saying of Jesus from the Gospels, “Cast not pearls before swine.” Jesus appears to be warning his disciples to preach only before receptive audiences. If you say that someone is casting pearls before swine, you mean that they are wasting their time by offering something that is helpful or valuable to someone who does not appreciate or understand it. Just like a pig that is unable to appreciate the value of pearls.

also i can't blame pd. this album is nuts

Babkis

They are it! They are the rookie group I've been most excited for since I learned about them in 2019 as trainees and they did not disappoint. I'm so glad you had a chance to check out the EP because honestly this is up there with the favorite albums of the year for me. They are my ROTY and I can't wait how they change up their style for the next time! <3 Love PK

Liz

one thing that i love is that not even one of the raps in their songs feel unnecessary or out of place the way i feel it happened with a lot of songs this year

Milli Mey

I believe I have listened to the album before but I feel like I didn't at all. How did I not notice how amazing literally all the songs are? Time to download

Babkis

Also Yuki is credited on all the songs as she writes her own raps. Since she is credited on all their songs on both EPs, she is now already the 2nd most credited 4th gen female idol - just behind Soyeon! Super impressive considering they just debuted this year and she isn't even Korean!!! I love this group

GoldenBoy

4 Gen is just different bro Also PD here is and idea for "ZzzzZ" I want you to just lay back with headphones and close yours eyes and do nothing you'll feel a completely different vibes from that song it's actually insane when you relax and listen to it

Oligom

PD, did you notice that the distribution on the lines was more even on the song that Chaein produced/composed? i totally get that some songs are not meant to be fair, but i respect a lot the fact that she tries to make her songs fair in terms of distribution. Edit now that I finished watching: I agree, album is definitely 11/10, there are no skips at all!! I had Cast Pearls Before Swine on repeat recently, but after this i will add Twinkle to that playlist too, i rediscovered that track with your reaction :)

mm

There's a vlive with Chaein where she creating a melody/song by using real-time comments as lyrics and considering that she is only feestyling it already sounds soo good: https://youtu.be/y3a5Vpk6vng After watching this I knew this girl will go places. She's not only talented but also very confident in her skills wich is probably even more important. RBW really made sure to include song writing/production as part of training and evaluation in their trainee time.

Niclas K-Pop

2AM may be one of my favorite B-Sides this year, the definition of a relaxing chill song! The girls have been absolutely incredible with all their songs this year!

Qwarky

You choose to speak facts only here XD This album is absurd! So many perfect song! So Why is my favourite this sort of anti-drop in the chorus + the bass got me but i listen to all the songs daily since this album came out

Alison Renaud

Im not usually into girl groups but damn Purple Kiss hits differently and so good!! I dunno how people are going to see this comment but hear me out... Im in no way comparing any of these groups but.... I feel like Purple Kiss has finally filled the void that Sistar and 2NE1 left in the kpop world. I mean that with the greatest repsect for those girls because Sistar and 2NE1 were the best of kpop. I can hear Sistar doing 2 am and 2NE1 doing ZZZ unless its just me?? Purple Kiss is so good they're so talented and have beautiful voices. I dont know the members yet but Im gonna learn them! Purple Kiss will be huge and they just debuted

Wiktor

I'm glad my jokes stay in peoples heads 🤭

Wiktor

PD can now be smug and say 'I saw their potential pre-debut' 😩💀

The more I listen to this EP, the harder it gets to pick a favorite song. Actual chills!!!

angel

twinkle still my favourite song off the ep shes incredible but youre right the album is a solid 11/10!!! finding these gems predebut was one of the greatest things ever they're so full of potential and brimming with talent 💕

Anonymous

i also got Mamamoo vibes from twinkle, but for me it was more "starry night" that the guitar reminded me of. but yeah, twinkle getting that 11/10 rating truely deserved, it's also my favourite track from this ep ✨

Dia

Purple Kiss are rookies to watch! I’m happy I found them predebut so I can watch their journey unfold.

I've been waiting for PDs reaction to Twinkle since the moment it came out and it did not disappoint

Aurayaya

Its an album of the year candidate for me. This album is soooo my taste

Sam Majeski

I definitely agree that Go-Eun and Sean are their heavy hitters vocal-wise. However, I almost wish they would pull those two back a bit more because I think Ireh, Dosie, and Chaein would REALLY shine on more upbeat pop songs. I feel like the difference between “2am” and “Twinkle” is a perfect example of that. Those three have a bit more oomph and Sean and Go-Eun have more of a charming alternative vibe. Just my opinion, of course 🙃

Sam Majeski

Also, just as an aside, “So WhY” has one of the most GOT7 house intros I’ve ever heard and I love it

Now i need to watch this/listen to the album because unnecessary raps are one of the worst things abt kpop right now😭

Thilde

I'm sure the members do get a say in terms of line distribution on songs they worked on, but I think its still ultimately up to the company. 2AM's is kinda ridiculous no matter how you look at it. The other "slow" song on the album ZzZz is MUCH more fair by comparison (one of the reasons I prefer it). As much as I LOVE purki and their music, the distribution is definitely a problem on quite a few songs. You could make the arguement that Ireh and (especially) Dosie get some shine in terms of dance. But that still leaves Jieun with scraps.. Hopefully its something that slowly improves over time. Zombie definitely was more fair than Ponzona so thats something. Either way this album is awesome! They continue to have a great discography, and I can't wait for their next album <3 (more Chaein songs pls)

Tesa

Yes! Twinkle is a god-tier song! And the album is amazing. Not many girl groups blow me away like this, but Purple Kiss did it easily.

Stephanie C

I hope we'll see the Cast Pearls Before Swine performance on a future livestream!

Ken

this album jesus christ. twinkle made me cry??? thank u for bringing this to my attention holy shit

Malaki.H

WTF THIS IS MY FIRST LISTEN AND TWINKLE IS FREAKING MIND BLOWING?!!!

Lemons from Mars

Twinkle is totally one of my top favorite bsides of this year along with Dreamcatcher's Whistle, I hope more people would hear it.

Anonymous

The INSANE AWESOMENESS of this album, and Purple Kiss in general blows me away to Mars... like wtf? Homie RBW brings this heavyweight after Oneus?!?!?! also TWINKLE is a FUCKING MASTERPIECE!!!! MY GODDDDD

randomAlienVisitor

Yuki rapping on the bridge in Cast Pearls Before Swine while everything is escalating has to be one of the most hype things ever.

Ania

This album is so good and I love Twinkle the most

Letícia

Did PD not do an Into Violet listening party? :(( Also, waiting for memeM <3

Letícia

No one showing appreciation for my girl So WhY in the comments 😭 it's one of my all-time favorite PURPLE KISS songs, Chaein is a genius actually

Letícia

Friendly reminder that PURPLE KISS choreographed Cast Pearls Before Swine themselves pre-debut. On the dance practice for the song they show a few clips of them practicing it in August of 2020 when they debuted only in March 2021 <3
