I obviously could not see the whole episode, but before I rewatch it whole with you, I skipped to the part of Kyeong Mun not being casted, because I knew he was your number 1 from early on… I know it is just a show, but I was worried this might be hard moment for you and I am glad you took it with understanding

cy

I started watching LOUD since the first few episodes because of kyeongmun and he was someone I rooted for since the beginning ;-; I can see the validity behind jyp's statement on why he didn't choose him but god his elimination was so heartbreaking There's some good news for kyeongmun though but idk if it'll be a spoiler given that there's still one more episode of the casting round, but regardless I believe that he has a lot of potential and talent which would make him shine if he overcomes this mental hurdle. For younggeon's performance I'm pretty sure his performance was shown but then subsequently cut out from all streaming sites (no idea why though) you can find his performance of exo's tempo on youtube? edit: https://mixdrop.co/f/o733zjprfn408x found a link without cutting out his perf! the video loads impossibly slowly though

Hey PD, i was wondering if you were interested in checking out the round 1 audition performances of some candidates we didnt see in the show (for example taehun, kyeongmun and yoon min) after you watched the last episode in the future? i think that would be very interesting

Holly

i could be wrong, but i watched Loud on dramacool and i’m pretty sure i saw yonggun’s performance- maybe they cut it out due to copyright or something? not sure

WiseSmellyLegs

Yeah I came back here into comment section to mention this… Kocowa cut it out again. Like WTF?? They cut out some in first round I thought “okay it is the beginning” but these performances are important!

WiseSmellyLegs

As it is already mentioned here… SBS did not cut out Yong Geon’s performance, this is again just the “Kocowa Cut”…

Maddy

i'm so glad that yoon min finally got some of the recognition he deserves! i've been screaming from the rooftop since the first performance of boomerang that yoon min is so incredibly talented, and i feel like he just never got the chance to prove his worth. He has always been in my top picks, i'm so happy that JYP took a chance on him

Holly

me too!! he gave me such good impressions both talent wise and personality wise from the beginning and i was starting to wonder why nobody noticed him, so happy he finally is getting a chance to show himself. honestly one of my fave casting round performances!

Holly

i’ve watched all four seasons of produce, gp999 and i-land but no other survival show has made me cry and scream like this one has. idk what it is about it, but i feel like it’s made me love and appreciate the artistry and work behind kpop even more! i’ve become so attached to each and every one of these contestants. ill be rooting for them when they debut, and for those who don’t, i’m so excited to see where they end up! more people need to know about this show T-T

I feel like for JYP the character of the idol is very important. JYP artists are usually praised for being very nice and considerate with fans but also with the staff who they work with. And I think this will pay off in the long run if you only cast nice hard-working people the chances of them getting into drama is very little and the industry will love them.

PD- I think you would really enjoy Chuang 2021 then. It’s the Chinese version of Produce 101. Last year’s mentors were more about being counselors and encouraging the boys. The show was also more about the relationships and group bonding especially with all the international participants.

LoLo

I yelled so loudly at the screen when kyeongmun didn't get cast that i went hoarse. he was one of my favorites too, and i was SHOCKED.

gyeongmoon is debuting in a new group under brandnew music aka ab6ix's label

onyx.

even though gyeongmoon wasn't my top favourite, he was very likeable, and so i was also quite upset that he wasn't cast. JoonHyuk on the other hand is my top favourite (alongside Eun Hwi) and I'm not disappointed with his performance. While people are talking about the similarities between daniel and eunhwi, i feel like other than yoon min, hyunwoo is a talented songwriter and composer. he wrote the song 'Coin' and it's one of my fav performances in the show, and he & eunhwi wrote safety pin together which is obviously a masterpiece. he's an underrated composer while also being able to sing and dance perfectly well. alongside yoonmin, he's an all-rounder stable member to rely on during team missions, but unlike yoonmin, he doesn't get enough screentime/spotlight. i consider yoonmin, eunhwi and hyunwoo to be the holy trinity of songwriting in this show HAHA highly agree with what you said about lee seung gi, props to him that he's bringing something refreshing to a survival show. you can see why i don't have the patience to wait to watch with you PD, it's so exciting

What you were saying about Seunggi- the way he was with them reminded me a lot of how Lee Dongwook was on ProduceX101 with the trainees when he had the chance to just hang around with them in their training rooms or even during the elimination rounds. He told them pretty early on he wanted to be a "hyung" figure for them and it definitely came across for me

kisa1909

The casting round was my favorite round because of Seunggi. Like, I couldn't stop praising him and I was so impressed with his attitude and the way he really seemed to take the auditionees under his wing! But it is also my least favorite round b/c of Kyung Mun. Even though there was still the final pick left I cried. I was really attached to him and Haruto from the beginning, and I think around ep 5 or 6 I got really attached to Yoon Min so I almost cried during the comments for his performance. Anyway, watching Loud and Wild Idol at the same time is an experience since both of them are COMPLETELY different in terms of survival shows, and I think I enjoy Loud a bit more.

Giu Bressani

I have such a soft spot for yoonmin and amaru, I'm so so happy to see them being praised not only for their talents, but for the people they seem to be Also, I know Taehun wasn't even in this episode, but I've been dying to mention how much he reminds me of Ateez Seonghwa like there's something about his face that's just like a mini/soft version of Hwa and I just can't unsee it now

Maria

just to reiterate what someone else said i think Chuang 2021 is the BEST in terms of how they coach and guide the contestants. I think a good show needs to have people like Seunggi (or even PSY / JYP), to be a person that goes that little extra step. it shows that #1 they are taking their job seriously and #2 it shows how much they care about the contestants. one thing that was missing for me on GP999 was not only the involvement of the host / judges but also the contestants. a lot of them were too scared to say what they really wanted. which was different on Chuang 2021 (about half of the contestants were international) and seeing how they worked things out together was really great. you know how on GP999 you couldn't remember the early contestants? well I remembered about 90% from Chuang. also two of the contestants are previous SHINee backup dancers! I think you would really enjoy it and should check it out next. not only did I feel like it was done well but it was really wholesome too. that and LOUD have been the best competition shows i've ever seen.

Lim Kyeong Mun: I have expressed about it already in previous comment, but to add something up… I cannot imagine him being in P-Nation and I thought JYP will cast him back to his label. I do not want to spoil anything (not only about Lim Kyeong Mun, but about JYP and his attitude towards contestants in LOUD), so I cannot continue here and tell something more, but the only thing I will say is that JYP does not have that much of rational attitude as it seems and also I am not sure how much JYP knew his former trainees. As he mentioned in this episode and in P-Nation round, he does not know those trainees usually until they are in the group of the real pre-debut formation. He obviously knew GyeHun. With Amaru I do not think so, since he was in YGEnt before and people/fans did not know about him as they knew about GyeHun and with Kyeong Mun I am not sure. Cheon Jun Hyeok: He is one of my favorite ones and as I mentioned in previous episode, I wanted to have him in P-Nation, so I am glad PSY casted him and I think he would have chosen P-Nation anyway. But I was surprised, when JYP did not cast him. I mean… he even did not talk about it with his HQ… Park Yong Geon: I like him a lot! Actually during my first time watching LOUD I liked him the same as I like Lee Ye Dam. So initially I wanted to have him in P-Nation as well. Unfortunately, with this performance of his I was not amazed and I feel like JYP casted him to have there somebody finally. But I can imagine him in Team P-Nation as well. Zo Doo Hyun: He is the one I mentioned in the first episode that his audition got cut out and since now you know he made it into Team JYP, you know, why I told you his audition is important and actually many things you said about this performance were the same/similar things JYP said about his audition performance… Kang Hyun Woo: I like him a lot and I am sad he did not get that much of a screen time… I hoped he would be caster by PSY, because I wanted to have him in Team P-Nation. But PSY said he would be rating them in this round only according to their performance now without considering previous rounds. And in this case I have to agree this performance was not something I was expecting and I understand, why PSY thinks he would not fit into his group, based on this performance… I mean I like that song and I listen to it time to time, but it is not something like Ready to Stay by Daniel or Beast Mode by EunHwi. And I know he wanted to show us, what he is like, but I thought it could be something like Coin (The song from 3rd round, where he performed with Kim Dong Hyun and Jang Hyun Soo. They wore cowboy costumes. JYP and you as well said it could totally be title song for a Kpop group). But I am glad he did it as he wanted and that he was able to show us, what type of music he likes and what type of person he is, so he did not do it just to make it into the next round. And as you said… he would probably be better solo artist like Dean rather than be in an idol group. You asked about his age… He is the eldest one in LOUD, he was born January 2000. Yoon Min: I feel like Yoon Min and Kang Hyun Woo are something you said last time about EunHwi and Daniel. They are not the same, but they are really similar in some special way. Not only from talent point of view, but as well from their situation/position in LOUD. We were not able to see their audition round. Both are in the group of the eldest contestants, since both were born in 2000. With Yoon Min we were able to see at least the second round, but we were not able to see Kang Hyun Woo’s, so he was introduced to us in the 3rd round… but both of them were in their teams as those, “who were holding everything together” and since both of them are the “all-all rounders”, they were able to do every position needed. But yet… in every round other teammates were better and both of them were sort of “forgotten/hidden in someone’s shadow”. And with this performance I feel really similar way as I felt with Kang Hyun Woo. I mean I like that song, actually even more than Kang Hyun Woo’s Mint Choco, but somehow I felt like: “Okay, this performance was not the thing PSY is looking for, but I would like to have him with my other favorite ones in P-Nation, so just cast him please…” But when you said he would fit JYPEnt a lot and it would be interesting to see self-producing group in a different way than Stray Kids are, I thought: “Yeah, that’s true!” So in some way, it’s good that JYP casted him. And as you compared him to Kang Hyun Woo as well, maybe the main difference between these two is that both of them would be good solo artists, but Yoon Min fits into a group more. And by the way, Yoon Min co-produced with EunHwi song Toy Story (that song from 3rd round, where they were in team with Justin Kim and Daniel), so yeah he is really good producer, but I do not know/think, if he is better producer than EunHwi is. But I would say he is something like Daniel. Like the “second producer of a group” with whom EunHwi could be making some ground breaking music Yoon Min took a part in making Toy Story (that song from 3rd round) with EunHwi. I do not know if he is better producer than EunHwi, but I feel like he is like Daniel, like the one with whom EunHwi can make some groundbreaking music. Lee Ye Dam: He could fit to both labels, that is true, BUT he has the hipness, which PSY wants in his group. I looked for the group Untitle and if I am correct, they were duo in the second half of 90s and Yoo Gun Hyung, the main producer of PSY, is one of this duo. Which gives me feeling he wanted and hoped to be casted by PSY… Oh Sung Jun: During my first time watching LOUD, I did not pay that much attention to Sung Jun. But after this performance he got me! And now, when I am watching it again, I understand why! Mitsuyuki Amaru: It feels so interesting that we are getting idols, who are children of Kpop fans. What more… not just children of Korean parents, but from other countries as well. I mean, I know why it is like this and it makes sense, I am just thinking…

im seconding everyone who recommended Chuang 2021! great stages, great contestants, great coaching. no fake evil edits and no unnecessarily long eliminations. as far as survival shows go, chuang is easily my favorite and i’ve watched a lot (sixteen, produce series, iland, loud, gp999). you should definitely check it out!

SimplyNas

Right! I remember one of the mentors on Chuang saying something along the lines of “these boys are going to be facing a harsh life once they get out there. Let them enjoy making music and enjoy the stage in here as much as they can.”

As if I could love Lee Seung Gi even more!!!! Him comforting Yoon Min was so touching. He’s just an all around stand up guy and I appreciated that he took the opportunity to speak up for Yoon Min and give him a little advice. Like PD said it’s just because that is the kind of person LSG is, it wasn’t scripted or necessarily part of the show. I feel like the only reason JYP didn’t come up for Jun Hyuk was it was so clear he was going to go to PNation. JYP was like “why even bother, let me just pick out one minor detail that I was slightly disappointed with.” Excited for next weeks episode!!!

Another Thing about Chuang 2021: It's one of the most rewatchable Survival Shows? Might be because it's actually enjoyable and not torture but it's also because - you come for the talent, you stay for them being wholesame babies, teaching each other their languages, helping one anther out and just generally... It's one of like... 3 Survival Shows that pass the general Vibe Check 🤣

Does DooHyun remind anyone of Jun K.?
