Ironic how O.O.O. Team 1 was 7/9 the debut group. I feel like the ideal 3/3/3 CKJ was this group. And yes I rooted for Youngeun since the beginning.

rockthekazb0t

IMO, that's the real benefit of sticking through watching and experiencing all the up and downs of a survival show - you get to discover and possibly love all the groups that eventually form after the show is over. When you think about it, each season has "produced" so many now-beloved groups in a way, and I'm not even talking about the winning debut teams. Like a mind map, with Produce at the center.

Michael

what i loved about yujin on this show is that she didnt make it because she's a member of clc. like yes clc did have some success especially internationally but she literally gained a huge amount of fans DURING the show because people finally looked at her and realised how talented she is. i mean she started with a decent fanbase (which isnt that big either if you think about it since most people only know sorn, yeeun and seungyeon and didnt take the effort to dive deeper into clc). but she left with a fanbase that's even 10 times bigger

ThatPatreonThough

Btw, not sure if you went and saw, but the OOO missions in the 3 teams have full team cameras too. It was just the voting that was done via the individual fancams.

ThatPatreonThough

EXACTLY! Which is why I’m very excited for PD to watch Produce 48. Wonder if they’ll recognize any non-IZ*ONE members (cause there are a decent amount of them that have debuted)

Daniela Madrid

Can’t wait to see how you react to the final lineup. The stress with the the three minute long announcements per member haha. And yes those “you can only vote for one person” voting system definitely impacted who got in as you’ve seen already. Cause my girl hiyyih went from 13 to 2 I was to nervous cause it was 50/50 with her but I’ll talk about that more in the final episode reaction. Like hiyyih had and has probably the most loyal fan base out of all the members

Anonymous

Crazy scary how your predictions for the final debut group were pretty spot on. Looking forward to watch your reaction to the finale! (Spoilers ahead, please do not read if you're staying spoiler-free!) Edit #1: I always forget that Yurina is an ex-idol prior to being an actress in Japan, lol Edit #2: No shit, when I saw the full O.O.O videos on YouTube, I thought to myself, "Isn't Team 1 already ready to go as the debut group?" I wouldn't get mad if they did but I'll be sad since Youngeun isn't there. Edit #3: Speaking of following certain people in whatever activities they do, Wenzhe actually has debuted before! She's in a group called Hickey. She just had starred in a commercial ad! Edit #4: I can't say I have anybody in Produce 48, but I do have someone in Produce X 101. I'm just keeping the name censored since you're planning to watch it in the future (iirc?), but this guy... I really thought he was going to make it, and while he did debut eventually, he stopped activities a year later because of conscription 🥲 He was especially talented, you know? His group was basically not known, but they still appeared in some shows here and there. They had skilled members, but they're practically limited by what their label could do for them. It felt like their talents, while they're not wasted, was not being acknowledged enough (by the public). Edit #5: I haven't watched the part about your comments towards Bahiyyih, but let me just say that for the record, I always had the nagging feeling she'll make it just because of her voting fanbase even when Mnet gave her dust for screen time. Edit #6: Let me just say that I had a crisis when they revealed that Youngeun and Ruiqi were the candidates for Top 9. I was happy that Youngeun made it to Top 9, but Ruiqi 🥲 Edit #7: I have big respect to Mashiro for having the courage to keep on trying again and again. Edit #8: Oh God, seeing Xiaoting rank number one gave me horrible flashbacks to the finale. If you know, you know.

rockthekazb0t

I haven't gotten to the end of the reaction yet but I was wondering -- although I know it's likely you didn't check out the link to the 9irls Ni9ht livestream (which happened like 2 days after this episode) but did you ever look at the final interim ranking they dropped at the end of the live before watching the final episode? That one was, oof, a doozy. Oh yeah, since spoilers are okay now - here's a screenshot from the subreddit(it also shows how much they rose or fell from the official 3rd elimination rankings: https://ibb.co/XWBHtPh

Amanda Bernström

I think Bahiyyih has the most loyal fanbase out of all the girls that made it to the final lineup. She probably would have been in the top 9 every round if it wasnt for the voting system, since you could vote for several girls, people who had spots left to vote for other people they dont actuallt rooting for did avoid voting for Bahiyyih, meanwhile Bahiyyihs fans were forced to vote for her and other people and this probably was the reason for her not making it to top 9 all these rounds. Bahiyyih only had her own fans who voted for her because people hated her. So with this 1 person vote rule in the final REALLY helped her.

Ulla Molina

Interesting detail: the majority of viewers during the show, while watching OOO mission full team cams, came to the conclusion that group 1 did best in being technically perfect and clear, but group two for a lot of people was the best, as they had the prettiest dance break. Group three was regarded by majority as a school talent show performance in comparison to group 1 and 2. It was such a huge “no, mnet, it was not like that” when the episode came out and group 3 was praised a lot.

stylesniklaus

i voted for bahi every time and i had to find j and c fillers and i did, it was xiaoting and yurina (like a lot of us), so the final result are not so surprising to me!!

Fayyezz

I agree with the whole bahi discussion. Yeah she had an advantage with her name, but at the end of the day the show is a popularity contest. All the people that was flaming bahi can honestly just f off lol. Was I a little mad that bahi was p2? yeah, but no need to send the girl hate

Wiktor

Wen Zhe is an already debut idol in China in the group : HICKEY (her group has popular members in it but the group itself isn't. which is weird. I would compare HICKEY to Astro, their members individually have popularity but the group not so much.) She has been in a commercial ad and apparently has more projects lined up for her in china. She went from the least popular member in Hickey to the 2nd/3rd most popular. Other contestants such as : Ruan, Manami, Ito Miyu (she did the bad high note in fiesta) and Kotone have all joined the Agency : 143 Entertainment which also has Mashiro and Yeseo. So that will be a future group to look out for. As of right now, Ito Miyu has been confirmed to the public, whereas Ruan, Manami and Kotone are still in talks.

Vivian Huynh

Your predictions were crazy dead on PD, it was kinda scary!

Joy

The one pick voting was Bahiyyih’s Godsend. The 3 pick system always screwed her over because Hiyyih’s solo fanbase (called Hiyyihlights) are fiercely loyal. So while other had to pick between 2 of their favs ESPECIALLY THE XIAORINA followers (Shen Xiaoting and Yurina) Hiyyihlights had no problem in that aspect since they only cared about Hiyyih. Her uncle informed fanbases after the show that Hiyyih was well aware of the hate she was receiving (which I couldn't imagine how you handle that bc it was / is bad bad). I'll post more about it on the finale episode. Also, keep in mind planet guardians went on a campaign trail during this week. Every girls fanbase was partnering up with already debuted groups / big solo fanbases. Some examples: Chaehyun = Aespa Youngeun = Jisoo, Jo Yuri Yurina = Rosé Mashiro = ITZY Hiyyih = TXT (I would say half a lot were against it), Kwon Eunbi, PLAYM groups Su Ri Qi = MacBook pros Yujin = CLC, LISA Xiaoting = Jennie Every girl's fanbase made deals, these were just ones I could remember.

Joy

Also, there was a new interim ranking 3 days after this top 9 was announced 1. Kim Chaehyun 2. Choi Yujin 3. Kim Dayeon 4. Seo Youngeun 5. Huening Bahiyyih 6. Kang Yeseo 7. Kim Suyeon 8. Guinn Myah 9. Su Ri Qi 10. Fu Ya Ning 11. Kim Bora 12. Ezaki Hikaru 13. Kawaguchi Yurina 14. Sakamoto Mashrio 15. Nonaka Shana 16. Shen Xiaoting 17. Wen Zhe 18. Huang Xingqiao

ThatPatreonThough

Miyu is the only confirmed one to sign with 143 and is coming to Korea soon. The other 3 are still in Japan and there is no official news regarding them and 143. It’s all just speculation based on an InstaStory from the CEO.

Cristine

In response to your ending comment on Hiyyih, your prediction were sadly spot on (as they usually are, lol). Meaning that after debuting she got massive hate and she is still getting hate to this day. Which is really sad but I wish people had your mind set and point of view on things in general. On a lighter note tho, thanks to all the exposure they're currently getting a lot of people have started supporting the girls. And I just can't wait for Kep1er to take over the world <3 PS: I hope you're ready for all the Kep1er recommendations you'll be getting in your next girl group live stream :P

Ulla Molina

PlayM groups uniting in the last week of voting under the motto of “Let’s save this innocent girl from PlayM dungeons” was really the sweetest thing I saw in those dark days!

A.D

if you just wanna like surprise upload the finale tomorrow I totally wouldn't mind.. just throwing it out there no big deal hehe, jk (or is it?) -- Super excited for your finale reaction though and specifically to Youngeun! And you're totally right about the potential shift in rankings as you can see from the finale, I knew right away that people were not going to vote for Xiaoting nearly as much, just assuming everyone else would do the work. I immediately made it my mission to vote for her every day haha!!!

Anonymous

I couldn't edit anymore, so I'll comment again! As for Bahiyyih, I liked her because she seems to bring something fresh to the table. I agree with you PD, in that her confidence seemed to plummet each episode coming by. I'm just glad her fans keep showering her the love she deserves. Yeah, I think people forget that others have advantages compared to other trainees. Once again, thank you for the objective opinions PD! It's just so refreshing to see it compared to the senseless ones I see everyday.

Cecilia Zhang

Thank you for the reaction PD! I recommend checking out Youth With You season 2 if you’re looking for another survival show after 999 as you can find some of the Chinese contestants there. Also, it makes me so mad when I found out Cai Bing’s rank had dropped to the 26th with Mnet’s editing manipulation :( excited to see your reaction to the finale as I haven’t seen it either!

Ulla Molina

What’s interesting about Bahiyyih, is that everyone keeps talking about her. No matter what are the circumstances — if she’s low in the rating, if her screentime is nonexistent. Everyone kept talking about her on Reddit, on Twitter, on YouTube. Girl had, like, five articles about her during the show and some more after. The last time I’ve seen so many articles about undebuted trainee, it was aespa’s Karina. I’m not comparing, but hype is hype. Damn it, even here, we ended up talking about Bahiyyih in every single comment section of GP999. Really, I tried to control myself, but everyone else kept mentioning her, even when she was on screen for, like, ten seconds, six out of which were the performance. I don’t know what it is, but I think no celebrity relation gets you this kind of thing. It helps, of course, it would’ve been stupid to deny how good (and bad) was for Hiyyih to have a famous brother, but there’s something in her still. That makes people talk, that makes them watch her fancams even when she’s not the prettiest in the group or best singer or dancer there. There is some magic in her, and she’s still learning to handle it well.

Fadi - moonlight

To add to the Bahiyyih discussion, Ririka was very popular because of having been on the Niziu survival show. Yaning and Ruiqi were also on a survival show in China. Whenze is already in a Cpop group that's fairly popular. Even Sakurai and Seungeun, who got eliminated early on, had a following. And Mashiro has an entire fan base because she was a popular JYP trainee and almost made it into ITZY. I know these are different level of popularity, but people should chill, it's not any of their fault that they are popular or have been on some show before. There is no rule that says if your sibling is famous that you can't follow your dream. Bahiyyih is still getting hate to this day and the amount of people that are OT8 stans (aka they don't like Bahiyyih) is uncanny.

eli_nhdoaek

Honestly, I think if MNET did not include Bahiyyih in the line-up it would be too obvious that they're rigging it. From what I remember, she was always leading the online voting plus the fact that the finals was a one vote only thing so her fans don't have to give votes to other trainees. The hate she got and also MNET not giving her little screen time really pissed off her fans which made them vote harder. That's just my thoughts tho lol. I also completely agree that people forgot that the other trainees had advantages too. Some already debuted and some already had prior survival show experience. They just put all prejudice against Bahiyyih

Form of Therapy

Isn’t that the thing with Produce? A lot of trainees had advantages like being from existing groups etc

Form of Therapy

You bring about such an interesting perspective and I actually touch on this in my ep 12 reaction. Bahiyyih has something and the fact that she has something to prove excites me. To be honest, she’s a trainee (at least at the time of this show) and the scrutiny on such a trainee who hasn’t even debuted yet… Illogical. But as you said, it’s because she does has something. I really REALLY think it’ll come alive in a dark/serious concept. It seems like her real persona and her personal preference is cute stuff, but the dark stuff will suit her as a performer way more!

Ulla Molina

Yes, they had mini-votings (partially paid) on Universe that gave girls stuff like vitamins, makeup, banners, coffee trucks. Bahiyyih lost, like, only two of those? She always was in top5. And her fancams had highest views and likes, so the winner of OOO was REALLY predictable. People were calling it Bahiyyih-mission, because her likes and views were so stably high.

Maca

i actually only watched gp999 after knowing the final lineup, because i didn't want to get attached to contestants that wouldn't make it. but guess what? i still got attached! i'm following a bunch of them on instagram, and am subbed to jia and manami on youtube. i also have been following shana on her company's youtube channel. i am really hopeful that kotone continues pursuing this career too, because i think a couple more years of training and she could be really great. i also started getting into cherry bullet because of bora. and i'm REALLY into billlie now because of suyeon. i love pretty much all of the girls who made it to the creation mission, and a handful that didn't even make it that far. there are real gems in these shows and it's depressing to think most of them won't do anything significant after the show. :( but i will follow those that do.

Béla Márföldi

For me this was the first Mnet show where i dont like the end lineup. I loved IOI, IZ*ONE, Fromis_9... but for Kep1er... I don't know the names of half the girls , even if i saw every episodes more than once. I was angry at the last episode, because of the korean votes changed everything. I think Mnet can put together a better group than the audience (even if cheating).

excellen

That O.O.O mission was useless filler in the end since the benefit was flat points that only benefited Yujin jumping over Yurina in the top 9. The only real benefit of this round was the double votes that helped Youngeun and Shana to shot up in the rankings to top 9 and saved Suyeon from elimination. Also, even though Suyeon didn't make it in the end but I think it was important that she made it to the final episode and ranked high there since I have my doubts if she would have joined Billlie if it was eliminated earlier. And yeah I agree with your last statement that people need to chill. Sometimes the conversations get exhausting to read since it seems some people are still stuck on the day of the finale. But I'll end with a positive: now that they debuted opinions ARE slowly turning around on Bahiyyih. Everytime I read a korean comment complimenting the group as 9 without singling out Bahiyyih or from some koreans that watched the show mentioning her but that they see that she is not as bad as people made her out to be skillwise I truly feel that it's just a matter of time till things calm down. And I know there are some jnetz still saying stupid things but most of them are fans of eliminated contestants like Su Ruiqi and Yaning that were really favored there in Japan. From the comments I read from the japanese fans that like the group as it is they are just as tired as we are of the fights online and just want for things to calm down so they can cheer for the group in peace. 2.5 years is a short time and they don't want to spend it fighting on useless things.

Amira.Z

The intense vitriol Bahiyyih gets caused a lot of people (at least this was my experience) to check her out cause I was interested to see what all the commotion is about. Did she say something controversial? Was her skills that bad? Did Mnet evil edit her? And then finding out that no, she wasn't problematic at all, pretty decent performer and she didn't even get screentime to be evil edited. This incredelous situation made me root for her and want to protect her cause compared to all the other advantages all the other trainees had (which I'm not saying is bad), she literally cannot control from which womb she was born from. Her brother being famous is not caused by her choices in life. People should really dial down (or prefererably not have) the hate and remain sane and decent human beings in life. Also there's just something magnetic and addictive about Bahiyyih's fancam.

Peikoririn

That speech about bahi made me tear up. The amount of shit she gets TILL THIS DAY is so sad.

Maf

I cried when they called her name! I voted for her every single day and she almost didn't survived the 2nd announcement. I was so happy that finally it seemed it all paid off. Now I just want her to have more lines ahaha even so, she's doing amazing 💗

Béla Márföldi

I dont hate her, just dont care her. She didnt captivate me at all. I didnt find either her personality and skills interesting. Yes, the family background isnt her fault... if it is a fault at all. She didn't deserve the hate. But the "save her" attitude was too much i think. I don’t think she would have gotten into the final lineup if there wasn’t a hate-thing around her.

Maf

What I love, is that even with all the hate, Hiyyih wanted to keep her stage name as Huening Bahiyyih. On another note, I love seeing how supportive the Huening family is, Lea and Kai doing the WA DA DA challenge with Hiyyih (apparently Hiyyih went to Hybe's building and didn't even had to teach her brother the choreography) and in a radio interview admitted that Kai sent shine muscat to the girls when they had to delay their debut and that when she was down he told her to keep her head up and that he would always be there for her, supporting her. Bahiyyih is still going to show people a lot and I'm glad that she has the support and love of many people Just to make it clear, the info about the challenge, a fan asked her on a fancall and for the radio, they asked her the question.

Dee

I said the exact same thing as your ending comment before to people who were hating on bahiyyih and i was actually attacked, i said that even tho I wasn't voting for her because she's not in my personal 9 pick BUT that doesn't mean i should hate on her at all because she literally didn't do nothing to hurt anybody and especially because she's also a minor and it would really affect her. I also said that everyone was being a hypocrite choosing who has privilege and who doesn't when most of the people on this show had exposure and/or an established fandom already whereas she wasn't even part of an entertainment company she trained mostly by herself and her skills is actually good and they should stop lying about her not being able to sing or dance when she obviously can especially since she never missed up a single performance. like I said i didn't vote for her personally but the hate she got made me feel so bad for her she's literally a teen and to know she saw all the hate posts is so sad no one should go through something like that especially when they didn't harm anyone, and yes she got a boost because she's kai's sister but her fancams have so much more views than kai it proves that she has her own supporters as well. EDIT: I just want to say in case some of you misunderstand me, just because I didn't vote for Bahiyyih does NOT mean i don't want her or dislike her being in the group she fits well with the rest of them and not just her even if the rest of the people i liked didn't make it doesn't mean i dislike the ones that got in because after all it is based on voting and they got in fair.

Daniela Madrid

Yeah the same thing happened in I-land with the ENHYPEN member Sunoo anytime there was voting having to do with fan votes he always ranked number 1 every single time he had that in his bag but when it came to the final votes his ranking literally dropped out of the debut line up but was saved by the producers since they choose one remaining member. The fans had the mindset that everyone was going to vote for them since they have a lot of fans so they decided to use those votes on another person which I find as such a stupid idea

Daniela Madrid

Well her name I don’t know if she’s the one that decided to keep it her full name cause in a video Kepler did some she said she preferred the name hiyyih instead. So I don’t if she choose to keep it the full name or the company told her to use it

Emily L.

Can’t wait to watch when I get home, I’m just gonna comment my thoughts on the O.O.O performances first. I still have my old notes on this on my phone, so I’m not biased toward the final Kep1er lineup either! My fav overall was actually group 2, especially when they sing together and their dance break is the prettiest for me. Sonically, they have the most diverse range of tones when you listen to each member, so it creates this really full and rounded chorus vocal! May’s timbre was especially lovely to me and is my fav in the O.O.O mission. Not to say the other two groups don’t sound nice, they do! But I was surprised that group 1 wasn’t my fav since it has my bias, Chaehyun and gosh I love her voice the most. However, they actually ended up as my least fav in terms of group singing (i.e. when all the members sing OOO~ together.) Group 3’s combined singing doesn’t sound as full as group 2’s, but their voices really blend well for a brighter sound. I also think certain members there fit the song a lot! Personally, group 1 shines the most when you focus on their individual members’ parts. For example, Yujin’s 바로 나야 is my fav out of all 3 centers. I think there’s something very charming and memorable with the cute, nasally way she says it! Group 1 also visually looks the most balanced, so I think it’s a toss up between 1 or 2, depending on what you want to focus on. But since I’m the kind of person that focuses on how a song sounds, I would go with group 2! (Thanks if you went through reading my analysis lol)

GoldenBoy

This Ep was inresting to see PD react to mainly due to how ridiculous the voting shifted in the last Ep it's like all the bottom ranked got pushed to the top and all the top ranked got pushed to the bottom and I just KNOW PD was expecting that Xiaoting ranked 1 lol but also I would of loved to see you genuine reaction to rank 9 since you'd already know she was going to make it due to who the final two were but I am interested to see your reaction to her being the candidate for rank 9 as well as top 1 and 2 but the voting shifted so weirdly I was not expecting a few members tbh the one member that I didn't think would make it PD had fate in for a long time and I just found that intriguing

Lastelios

I see many people comparing yujin's popularity with bahya's, she had an advantage yes, but unlike bahya her popularity comes from herself. it is an advantage that she has built up over the years with her music and performances ,while bahya's popularity comes from someone else. she won the show even before she got into it .if in the future she can show that she deserves that place I will be very happy for her but right now I think her skils are not enough to be even in the top 20 .she is however a very important member as she has a large fanbase and they are doing realy well (best girlgroup selling album i think)

Ruan

Ah your predictions about Bahiyyih were spot on, sadly. Although a lot of knetz have come around and started to like her after she made the final lineup, she's gaining massive hate from jnetz. It's getting to the point where it's making the whole group look bad. Hate tweets and videos with thousands of likes... It's really sad and I hope she powers through. I will never understand how someone could hold this much hate for a young girl, a MINOR, who's just following her dreams. The lineup is what it is and it's not gonna change.

sakeofblake

When I was watching the finale live, I was ecstatic but also really concerned when Bahiyyih was announced in the final lineup as second place. I've been cheering for her since the Fiesta stage but the amount of hate she constantly received was insane, and I saw my fair share of backhanded "compliments" too. I wondered how she would power through it, but given it's been a little while since Kep1er debuted I think she will be fine. She's definitely gotten confidence back in performing and I recommend seeing the newest stages for MVSK and WA DA DA if you have the chance; her overall stage presence has improved a lot and she really serves the camera with her expressions. Though, I personally think her individual fancams show this more than the full group/full cam stages.

Horizonshard

For me, it's Shana. I will definitely check out her group as it gets formed. She has my favorite voice on the entire show.

Joy

Those intense jnetz comments are insane. They are trying to make Hiyyih, look like she doesn't belong. During their MCD win, Hiyyih did the speech and the number of vile comments from them saying, “why can't she read the atmosphere” “the leader should speak” “the cold wind does ruin the atmosphere” (jnetz anti call Hiyyih a cold wind). But they haven't figured out by capturing these awkward screenshots makes the rest of the group look like they hate Hiyyih which will only benefit her and bring the rest down. Especially, since knetz have been really taking to Hiyyih now! There are loads more Korean comments on her fan cams than before and they are actually nice comments.

Ann

From my point of view, the reactions that Yujin and Bahiyyih got were different because of everything Produce left behind. In the first season, there were participants who had recently come out of survival shows or who had already debuted, which was controversial at the time because there was no equality between the girls. However, already in the last season these types of participants became completely normal and it stopped being a topic of conversation, because there was never a pattern that ensured that they would debut yes or yes (of course ignoring the manipulated votes). While on the other hand, the Bahiyyih case is something newer and therefore controversial. Out of all the survival shows I've seen, the hate Bahiyyih gets is the most extreme, and even me as a passive viewer of GP999 made me feel sick :( I really hope they leave her alone for once, and that she can enjoy Kep1er as much as possible! sorry for my bad english 🙏

leinie

My favourite contestant, starting from episode one, has always been Caibing. I believe that while she might not be main dancer material or the best rapper on the show, she'd be such a stable and important addition to any group. Shes got so much charisma and is a great performer, so i will continue rooting for her in the hopes of seeing her as a debuted idol one day (really, it'd be a shame for her not to continue working towards that goal). That being said, only being a fan of her, seeing the amount of hate she got, hurt a lot (i stayed away from twitter afterwards, it was too much) so i cant imagine how it must've felt being in her position :( i wouldnt blame her for staying quiet after that. I cant believe i go out of every mnet show thinking i'll never watch another one, only to go back and continue watching them right as they come out lol

onyx.

bahiyyih didn't just get hate, she got so much hate that is just utterly ridiculous to put on a 2004 liner. i could never imagine how much she had to suffer if i was put in her place. like you've said, the fact that bahiyyih is a great & stable performer and a great person but got the amount of hate thrown at her is insane. she and her siblings had the same dream, is just that her dream was achieved later than her older brother & sister. i was so shocked when i read knetz comments, how they should destroy her while they were fangirling about huening kai. the bias is real indeed.

Wiktor

a lot of people voted for Yujin out of pity for her and CLC. Not for her actual talent showcased on the show. Everything Yujin has showcased on GP999, in my eyes isn't on the level of 'TOP9'. especially with all her experience and years of training... this is all she could showcase? I'm personally someone who disagrees with anyone who thinks Yujin and Bahiyyih don't come from the same crop of privilege on this show. They both the same damn coin but just on the opposite sides of it.

haohao

During GP999 I was a massive fan of Cai Bing and Hiyyih. Both of them i would say got the most hate. People forgot with Cai Bing that it's a competition and you don't always get along with people, and I remeber seeing the ahte she got was insane. It was such a switch up from everyone loving her and it was all of my social media, being a fan of her during this time was rough. With hiyyih on the other hand from the start she was getting consistent hate and it was insane, and still is.

Isabella N.

the hate bahiyyih has received is so infuriating and honestly rlly disgusting. i’ve seen ppl use every insult they can think of for her, claim she has no talent as a performer/singer, and make extremely gross implications (even worse cuz she’s still 17 in international age). it reminds me a lot of the hate tbz’s haknyeon received when he was on a produce series and ppl were literally saying he deserved his father “leaving” him (for context, his father had passed away). different situations, but both made me extremely pissed off.

Lola

I’m personally following Yoon Jia and can’t wait till she debuts. She’s done some dance and vocal covers that I absolutely love. I knew she would get eliminated since she didn’t get lot of screen time but decided to still keep up with her. I’ve never done that with anyone else before and it felt weird at first since she hasn’t debuted yet. But it’s like knowing they’ll be amazing wherever they go and can’t wait too see it.

Juliana Ferrari

The girls that didn't debut in the final lineup that I was supporting during the show (and I still am) are Nonaka Shana (My favorite vocalist on GP999) and Lee Yunji who was actually eliminated on the 1st round 😅 Both are debuting soon and I couldn't be more happy! Hearing the news of any GP999 contestant debuting is awesome!!

PD It's so fascinating to see you predict the ratio of the K-C-J members in the final lineup, and how accurate you were. I was also on the "if Yeonguen doesn't get in I'll cry" team, and I kind of held off from forming attachments until the final group was formed but Yeongeun...that's MY BABY. I'm so glad she made it! The thing about Bahiyyih, is that I've also been on the same boat: Yes she has privilege, but at this point...so WHAT????? Because it's not something that can be changed, and like everyone has mentioned, there are so many others who are at a place of privilege too. It's no grounds to hate on anyone. One of the best things I've noticed though, after watching Kepler's variety content that has come out so far, is that she's 1. Gotten so much more confident 2. Contributes a lot to the team in terms of variety sense! She's a lot more comfortable on camera/variety shows than I thought and it's great to watch. Can't wait for you to witness the 04-line (Yeongeun, Hikaru, Hiyyih) Kepler chaos PD.

I'd love to see PD reacting to other audition survival shows that aren't Korean personally! I'd like PD to try watching Idol Producer (the one that had Lay as the MC and the main producer of the show) one day!

I was also surprised by how Cai Bing's elimination had impacted me. I was rooting for her, but also expected since she's the oldest contestant, her chances were low (plus the evil edits). Still, I was genuinely disappointed to see her go. That being said, I'm actually glad I didn't watch the show as it aired, and instead just watched the unedited performances on Youtube each week, bc I avoided a lot of the mnet bias editing and just focussed on performances in my picks. The drama and the politics of it all gets to be too much for me. Watching the show along with you for the first time, they definitely did her dirty with the editing and seemed to cut down on her screen time heavily. Speaking of, you mentioned Yurina losing a bit of her magic, but I don't know if that's the case so much as they just never really gave her an arc in the show. She showed initiative striving for vocal 1 in the OOO performance and she nailed it. She showed different concepts like HYLT vs Utopia and she got along well with others, but they don't actually dwell on her journey within the competition until the elimination episodes. But regardless, this is all moot at this point since the show is over. I'm definitely a fan of Kep1er now. Would my line up have been different? Yes, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy getting to know the official top 9. I look forward as well to seeing other trainees debut soon. It's a shame that I don't really follow c-pop bc most of the members I want to follow are from c-group, but I will do my best to support them in the ways I can.

For the people that made it into the group my bias is Hikaru. She caught my attention from the 1st performance on & I love her. She was my 2nd bias during GP. My 1st bias & the person who I’ll follow to whatever group she’ll debut in is Myah. I love her presence & charisma so much.

For the people that single out Bahiyyih for privilege, let's not pretend a large number of contestants didn't have some form of back story that gave them an advantage against other contestants. Obviously the level of privilege is not the same for each case, but you're never going to have 99 contestants that are completely unknown for a level playing field. Chaehyun - Ex-SM trainee Bahiyyih - TXT Kai's sister Yujin - CLC Dayeon - Produce 48 contestant Yeseo - Child actress and Ex-Busters Mashiro - Ex-JYP and trained with ITZY Xiaoting - Chuang 2020 contestant Among the girls that made it into the debut group, only Hikaru and Youngeun could be considered basically unknown coming into the show.

One weird thing tbh was yujin to me. her group was kind of a 'flop.' and her performances on the show never stood out. I really wonder if mnet was pushing her. i was surprised that the judges didnt criticize her in her first performance just bc her audition song and dance were quite low level. did people just latch on to her because they felt for her and her wanting to have a second chance? or was she just getting a 'good' edit? hm edit: I had another comment but it disappeared 😭 i must have deleted it patreon is always being weird. i was basically saying that people are just too extreme on either side when it comes to bahi and theyre either overly mean, or completely in denial and attack any valid criticism anyone says. The hate she was getting also fueled her popularity. I also think her situation triggered certain feelings in a lot of people because of what it said about life overall (aka its not fair). also, i dont think yujin had anywhere near the same privelege coming into the show as bahi.

I think the two contestants who didn't make it that I would follow are Shana and Myah! Actually I've already heard Shana sing My Sea and it's so good ;; though I say follow very loosely because I don't really actively find their channels or instagrams and stuff, but I'll keep an eye out for their groups! Though I agree that Bahiyyih had privilege, I don't know if I would agree with others in saying that she has "the most" and that's what propelled her to the end, because it's like what you said PD, she has to have something for people to back her on, if she's a horrible performer I think she would have dropped out way sooner; as I said before, she may not be the best but she shows promise and potential, kinda like Jake from Iland. The privilege thing only gets them noticed sooner, but it doesn't mean they'll definitely be more popular (look at all these people that were/are in debuted groups that came on the show! The sad music edit Mnet gave all of them because they were "desperate for their dreams"; people will be more interested in them, want to see what they've got to show, but that doesn't make them their one pick) Idk why I made this long comment since the show's already over lol but here it is

Btw just about what you said about the audition song/dance, one of the c-trainees came out on a livestream and said that they didn’t choose their own songs and were instead assigned songs.

As always PD, you are so good at observation, analysis and all that. Well of course based from experience and lots of knowledge in kpop, still. So good. I can't say much for those that might not have watched the final episode and not know the final line up yet. But PD, wow. Always on point. Can't wait to watch your reaction to the finale.

Bennime

I hope PD saw the interim rankings before watching the last episode. i need to see his face, constant stress and nervous sweating, thats how I felt since Xiaoting was also my favorite

I actually watched Girls Planet because I had heard of all the hate Bahiyyih had gotten and I wanted to see what all the drama was about. I'm a casual txt fan but definitely not a stan and in the beginning I thought she was good but not experienced enough yet and while I liked her quite a bit I didn't think she would make it into the final lineup. I had quit watching after the ice cream episode because I had kind of lost interest in the show and it wasn't all out yet and I tend to binge watch things all at once. I had heard that she made it into the final lineup and was so concerned for her because the hate was already so extreme half way through. So when you started watching I decided to watch again and I did start watching Bahiyyih's fancams and totally fell for her (she is my bias now).

Phion

I don't know if anybody pointed it out but the ranking here and the final was bound to be different because mnet forced us to vote 1 from each c/k/j groups. Many people had a strong K group bias and voted on Shaoting and Yurina/Hikaru/Mashiro because of lack of preference in C/J group.(I say lack of preference but C group and J group had a different dynamics...)

Faviola Salvador

You should watch Youth with you 2 if you want to see more sides of the Chinese contestants and much less evil editing

Faviola Salvador

I think bahi wouldn't get as much hate if she existed before the finals. She was really invisible up until then. Not to mention her peers are clearly at higher skill levels.

lindvre

i mean nct dream has 2 chinese members out of 7 so...

Cai bing was my favorite from day 1, im not understanding how people didnt like her :/ she never had a main part in performances but she killed all the parts she did have. I also saw glimpses of her personality and it always seemed so sweet. I think the producers definitely skew the perception of the girls. I was so ready to collect cai bing photocards lol :( they wouldve been iconic, i hope we see her in the future... but im sad to see all these girls leave, all of them have potential and talent! I hope to see familiar faces in future debut girl groups.
