Yay! This is the round I’ve been waiting for!

WiseSmellyLegs

Let me paraphrase Tina Turner: „Koki is simply the best!“ I mean... the krump part in Lazenca, Save Us? That was incredible!! That part with Ye Dam in ‘난 네 Brother was mind-blowing as well!! (I mean the one, where Ye Dam has his solo dance, when all other members are down on their knees and then Koki jumps over him and after his solo dance he is taken up. About Kang Hyun Woo… I realized that after rewatching 10th episode with you, they cut out his introduction video, which literally every single one else had before their performance… and it was not cut out just on Kocowa but as I checked it, it happened to the official release as well. So there is no surprise Kang Hyun Woo was not popular among fans, because not only we were not able to see his audition in the 1st round, but his 2nd round as well and then this introductory video as well and I think these little things are important to gain fans’ attention and I know JYP eliminated him, not fans, but JYP knew he was not that much popular, so if he was, JYP might have thought about that as well and keep him.

This round really showed that JYPE has a group that is more ready to debut sooner, however not much of that LOUD qualities they talked about in the beginning of the show, they're all already closer to the typical idol/jype idol. On the other hand, PNation got a lot of raw talent or more like artists overall but they just need some idol lessons to get into kpop mode. They'll be beasts with time and would really be up to be kpop future with the proper management. *********** What's down MIGHT BE CONSIDERED SPOILER******** I'm just feeling salty that some of the best assets of PNation and that caught my eye this episode and before didn't make it, I hope the debut lineup would be different from the show results and get those who left back because they really need them for that LOUD quality

Thabit Ayob

True, while LOUD doesn't do contestants as bad as MNET shows, but there were some members even at first audition weren't given anytime. It's hard for us to relate and link with them if we don't know they exist. MNet usually cuts some very talented performers while leaving some trash ones just because it'll be funny or cute or something like that. I'm glad at least all of the ones here in the show were good so the harm wasn't for some dumb reason.

Funny that you mentioned the use of leds in kpop, pd! iKON actually used it in their third or fourth (?) Survival show heroes of remix with the songs honey&billie jean. They even got complimented by Michael Jacksons choreographer:) thought you might like the side fact

jiminycricket

Okay but has PD watched to the original MV for Growl by EXO? lol I feel like it’s running question next to them finally reacting to Sherlock lol

Wiktor

Junhyuk reminds me of a mini Hyunjin / Yeji

recommenting this in case Pd hasn't seen this yet i don’t know if you know this PD, but I recommend you to watch Pnation LOUD team’s content after you finish the show. It’s just so good and it shows more of the team’s chemistry. There are 3 series: 1 is “PLOUD” consisting of 10 eps, a series that took place while they were filming LOUD which is the one I recommend you to react to. another 1 is “Welcome to Pnation” which is a 3 episode series that focuses more on variety games. and the last one is “Pnation News” which is an ongoing series that has 3 eps so far (once per month) and its super creative, their content is quite refreshing to watch ^^

onyx.

i watched this ep after i just couldn't wait for your reaction and my mind was just blown, I'm so glad these songs are on spotify because I've been listening to them non-stop. Pnation Team is truly explosive and dynamic, I can't praise each of them enough. (Side note: Eun Hwi seemed to have a mini glowup during that 1 month hehe) but i think that JYP team is polished and well-rounded, i think the "stand-out members" (gye hun, amaru & Yoonmin) IMO, should start embracing the spotlight and shine more, like joonhyuk, but idk i could just be speaking out of my ass. While you said Yoonmin is underrated, I think yedam is EXTREMELY underrated, any company would've been lucky to have him.

yesss Mnet is very secretive about who they want to win their competitions, but then they show their favoritism in sneaky ways (by giving more screen time , etc). Hence, why the crowd turned on them. They should have some way of showing who THEY want to win, not just basing everything off fan votes.

I love all the performances on this live episodes but I hate the elimination rules... but what can we do... Pnation team is for sure my favorite team and all of their performances are fire, still jyp is great too personally by this moment zoo do hyun became by favorite jyp trainee.

Doyoungismyult

I hate the camera work for all of the JYP performances. It took away from the performance so much

Answering the Goki Koki question: The translators at Kocowa just misheard his name from the get-go: His name in Japanese is Tanaka Koki. I guess they finally figured out his and Keiju’s names when they saw them written out in English. (They were translating his name as K-ju for some reason???) Does Korean differentiate between G and K sounds or are they treated like Ps and Fs? This whole flub has gotten the language nerd in me curious.

Midway comment on the voting system since PD asked: While watching this show live I felt that it went against the grain of what LOUD stood for with it being more than a show based on popularity but looking back at it now I do think that voting out someone based on fanvotes is significantly better than other shows like the entire produce series. In the end, popularity DOES matter when it comes to a groups' success, even if a member's popularity predebut is not a good indicator of their fame years from now. However, I do think that the fallacy with live votings is that people tend to vote for the teams they support regardless of how well they perform. This is probably true for all competition shows such as Kingdom (with skz topping in fanvotes/video views consistently) and even though the size of your fanbase does have some correlation to how well your group caters to the kpop audience. As for the wild card: this is likely biased as I already know what happens but I do find that fanvoting may be unreasonable at times and this would be a great way for producers to include people who are underrated into the lineup. (potential spoiler: next episode is a good example of the usage of the wild card for sure) The difference with LOUD (vs shows like GP999/Produce) is that both producers are ultimately aiming to create a boy group that would last at least 7 years and beyond as well as one which goes beyond the "standard" for idols. I do agree with the producers having a significantly heavier hand in determining who makes the final cut as opposed to the audience.

P Nation blew JYPE out of the park with their performances!! Not only did I love the songs more, but the concepts for the stages and the showmanship were amazing! Everything was so well thought-out. After some JYPE stages I sadly couldn't help but think - that was it?? And, honestly, even with that I was not expecting PN to get so many votes! Ah, I'm growing such a soft spot for these trainees. I couldn't help but think, "yup, I'm gonna start stanning them when they debut, no doubt about it." also, i only started watching LOUD last week so this is my first "in real time" episode and i'm so glad i can participate in the comments haha i'm even more looking forward to the episode next week!

Tesa

Eun Hwi definitely had a glow up! He looked.. expensive? Idk haha but he really shined! And yes, Yedam is criminally underrated! He was such a stand out in all his performances!

Tesa

I forgot to mention, Yedam was amazing in all his performances! He was so captivating to watch and it's so sad to see him be up for elimination.. Also, Doohyun, wow, he was my favourite JYPE performer this episode! He shined so much!

cy

The shirts are cool but also it has the names of all the 19 contestants of which at least 3*3-2=7 were going to be eliminated ;-; actually it was sold as merch during the show! also wrt daniel's korean it makes sense with the large gap in time from filming the casting round to the live shows. The gap between the broadcasting of the casting round and the first live stage was at least 1 month and loud was prerecorded quite in advance for quite a duation (I believe the audition round was in 2020?) so I'd assume they had stayed together for quite a while.\ Also that comment on JYP dressing weird and PSY being weird himself... he's really dressed like the ecentric artsy wine aunt here and his fashion throughout the show has been... interesting to say the least. 1. PLOUD's Nunu Nana All I can say is wow. These boys really work well together and it makes me so sad that they're going to face eliminations. Their performance was really executed well and the concept was also brillant. Also Junhyeok's stage presence... wow he's going to be one of the brightest stars in the next generation of kpop. This was the performance where I noticed Hyunsoo too, his expressions were so good and that center time in the chorus certainly helped! In their ending ment asking people to vote, Taehun's smile was so charming and honestly he's slowly becoming my favourite in this team along with Sungjun. Overall I felt like in this month of preparing for the live broadcast stages they became a team and their skills also got polished, although I agree that the rappers don't fit well together. Personally, Daniel really has a soloist vibe to him and I do think that him having a career in music like DPR or similar musicians would suit him more. 2. JLOUD's Again and again Great performance but I agree that I would have voted for PLOUD too. JYP's team really meshed together way better and I feel like JYP being very traditional and having a textbook mold is really doing them a disservice compared to P Nation's passion and fire. Personally the performances which Gyehun really stood out for me was when he was allowed to shine creatively and him being forced to perform this 2pm song really limits him. Overall I felt that this song didn't really suit the colour of a lot of the members and with JYP branching out of their old ways with self-produced groups I felt that it was a pity for them to choose such a basic song. 3. PLOUD's 10 Minutes The usage of the silhouettes at the end was so good!! I loved this performance, especially Daniel's rapping. I think Daniel can put up an idol performance as long as he brushes up his dancing even more. I agree that some members need to be eliminated for the rest of the group to shine and this performance really shows it. Kyungjun definitely has that charisma which scares JYP and I'm here for it!! 4. JLOUD's 10 Minutes I personally prefer this group's one to P Nation's performance, both arrangements were good but JLOUD really stood out to me. The rap portion in this though... Hyunwoo and Yoon Min's rapping was phenomenal! 5. PLOUD's Lazenca, Save Us x Growl OH MY GOD. This blew my mind and I LOVE the performance aspect of this so much. Everyone stood out and I'm just in awe. Junhyeok's high notes and his acting was so impactful and it just takes the cake. and JY's face HAHAHA he looked like he was going through the five stages of grief. 6. JLOUD's About Romance x Idol I agree that the trainees themselves aren't mature/skilled enough for this song, it felt lacking in some aspects unfortunately. With Keiju, his dead eyes are honestly such a put off and I feel like he needs a lot of training for his expressions because that's what makes his dancing come alive. I remember in a previous episode that you said eliminations didn't hurt because of how they edit it, now... it kinda sucks even though I understand why they're eliminating them :( FYI, the remaining 3 episodes are all live, and the final lineup will be determined by the episode after the next with a final finale live for as a sort of preliminary showcase of the final groups! The next two live episodes would follow the same format with 3 eliminations each + 1 wildcard for each producer. I'm especially excited for the next episodes :D

Jojo

Woo kyung Jun kinda reminds me of Taeyang from SF9 and then man Imma miss Kang hyun woo he reminded me of Seunghyun from CIX.

I don’t know why but I’m such of a P Nation fan, like so many of them just grabbed me since the beginning and now I can’t help but root for them, loving the experience of watching this with you PD, first time I don’t rush to watch the rest of episodes by my own, even of the temptation is on Viki lmao

Thabit Ayob

Same, I love Pnation team for some reason even tho JYPE team is cleaner dancers overall but as a raw skill and talent, i can't not love pnation, they just need time

Kpop_Platypus

PD, what you apparently hadn't grasped when you filmed this is that this wasn't THE live round, it was A live round. All the remaining episodes are live, and all involve 3 people being eliminated. So if one team loses all 3 rounds, they'd be down 6 members. As for the performances, I'll agree that Team PSY was flashier overall, but I definitely prefer the style of Team JYP's music & the sophistication of their performances. See you next week - provided I survive the blizzard that's about to hit & dump 2 feet of snow on me...🌨🥶

DooHyun was a favorite of mine since his autidion actually but it was one of the performance that was cut out of the version you watched. If I remember correctly he danced a modern dance performance then a more "kpop" one and they also asked him to sing . He did really well but did not make the cut initially until he was saved by JYP (who had some kind of wild card) at the end of the audition round. I don't know why your version did not show that part, I would have loved to see your reaction to his audition (it might be on youtube though). And then there was the Shock performance where he really stood out to me, once again. I would love to see you go back to that performance now that you've really noticed him !!

Here comes the part with live rounds, where I started to like LOUD less and less… Mainly because of the fan voting… I understand they needed to get fans involved into the show, because that is how these shows work and also it helps fans to get more into the group, when they can “decide”, who will be in that group, but it could have been done in a different way… For example: “Who will get more vore throughout all live rounds, that team will debut first” or something like that… You are right that this system is different than in another shows, but still… many (nearly all of them) vote in the way, who they like without thinking about the formation of the future group, about their positions and in a lot of cases it is based only on the fact “which contestant has prettier face”… In my opinion I would prefer if none of all contestants from both teams would get eliminated and these live rounds would have been just battles of “who built a better group”. Something like Queendom/(Road To) Kingdom. The wild card is a good thing in the way to protect contestants from fans’ elimination. Obviously they cannot save everyone they liked, but I feel like and also I would say I even know that they prepared the show in the way they will get, what both JYPSY wanted, so this wild card is just “in case something went wrong” or also to get the number of members for their group, which they wanted. Because after I finished the show I realized they had to plan many things and sort of knew, who will make it and how many members they will have. I do not want to spoil anything, but it is also the reason, why JYP casted only 9 members… Identity Mission: Team P Nation: This is the second performance, why I hoped you would watch this show! The first one was Toy Story by Random Box (Yoon Min, Eun Hwi, Daniel Jikal & Justin Kim). To tell something about this performance… I do not usually express my emotions out loud during watching something, but during this performance I shouted out loud and I could not believe my eyes. I mentioned more in my previous comment. So I do not have to repeat all parts I love here. The only thing I will add is that each member had enough lines, screen time, parts to show their talent and that is just unbelievable for a group made of 10 members!! Team JYP: I understand, why JYP chose this song, but on the other hand. This song is not made for nowadays stages. I mean if we compare it to current generation of Kpop and to what are Kpop fans used to get. I feel like this performance can appreciate mainly/only older Kpop fans. Maybe JYP did not expect PSY to go so hard into this or also they talked to each other and made a deal, who will make performances, which will obviously win, but in this round I am not sure that much with that, but in the next rounds, they did it for sure… But we will get to that later… Which one was better: Team P Nation Same Song Mission: Lee Hyori is my something like “Kpop femme fatale”, so I was so hyped for this round!! Team P Nation: It was good, but to be honest, I expected it to be a bit different. I do not know if it was because of the formation of members, although all of them were able to show their potential for the future group and I agree with your words about Kim Dong Hyun and Daniel Jikal. Team JYP: This time I liked performance of Team JYP much more! Probably because of Kang Hyun Woo and Yoon Min, but not only because they are my favorite ones in general, but also from whole Team JYP, but because they were rocking this rock style! Basically this was the style and attitude I expected from Team P Nation. Which one was better: Team JYP Crossover Mission: Team P Nation: First of all I have to say I like this “satanic/occult” vibe/style/concept. Second of all… Koki had his krumping part!! I was speechless and amazed… I do not have anything else to say. But to be honest I can imagine this formation as the final line up, if I compare it to the other ones, not just in this live round but in all live rounds. Before I said I would prefer not to eliminate anyone, but if I had to make Team P Nation as a smaller group, I can imagine them like this. Cheon Jun Hyeok is the all rounder, but he would be the main vocal and maybe lead rapper. Jang Hyun Soo is also an all rounder, although not that good as Jun Hyeok, but he also lead rapper and maybe lead vocal, that would depend, but anyway as you said before, he would be the solid rock of the group. Both of them are good dancers, but dancing positions I am keeping here for another ones. Eun Hwi is the main rapper and producer of the group, although I agree with you it is better to have more producers in a group, so in this case Daniel would be here a good choice as well, but since odd numbers of members are better for choreographies, I would understand, why JYP would have kept Eun Hwi here for his producing skills rather than Daniel Jikal, although he is a better rapper. Koki is the main dancer with those short lines of either rap or singing. Choi Tae Hun is lead dancer and I would assume lead vocal. Like he rapped as well here and there, but not that much. Team JYP: Actually… this could have won my heart over the performance of Team P Nation, if Team P Nation did not do the type of performance I like a lot. I do not listen to trot that much, but because of this performance, I started to listen to this song (About Romance) on Apple Music. And also as PSY said… JYP mixed those two songs without a single flaw! It was so seamless and smooth! Which one was better: Team P Nation Eliminations: I talked about Kang Hyun Woo in my previous comment, so here I will say just one thing. As you said this about Team P Nation, it is better to have more than one producer in a group. That is why I think it would be clever to keep him in Team JYP, since he could have worked on music and their production with Yoon Min… But as it seems now, after eliminating him, I worry, how much producing freedom this group will have after all, but we will see. Kim Dong Hyun: Although it hurts me, I kind of get it, why he was eliminated. But in this episode he proved and showed, what PSY was talking about during casting him… he is able to adapt and improve really quickly, so I feel like he was eliminated only because they had to eliminated someone and they had known they will eliminate him right after they casted him… I say this every round, or at least I feel like that, but the thing is he is a true rapper and not assigned rapper as some other contestants… and obviously yes, those former trainees of JYPEnt or P Nation are better in dancing and singing, although their position is rapping, but the thing is LOUD is/was about looking for boys like Dong Hyun, not for trained idols… Park Yong Geon: I liked him during my first time watching LOUD and at first I felt sad, although not that much sad as with Dong Hyun or Hyun Woo. But during my second watch, I found his flaws and I see, why he was eliminated. But since I know, how this whole show will end, I understand that not only him, but many other members did not have a chance to make it into the final line up, mainly in Team JYP, so Yong Geon, but also many others, where casted basically just to fill in the number of members for each team, so JYPSY had someone to eliminate or also fans as well.
