Hey folks, initially we added Weeekly's PLAY GAME: AWAKE to our schedule but when we got down to filming it... I didn't like it! It's a short single but I wasn't a fan of either B-sides so I had nothing to say and did not finish the video.

We wanted to make this post the day the video was supposed to release in case people were looking out for it. It's a rare occurrence that I wind up not liking something and have to cancel a video but we hope you understand!

Ah, that's a shame. I'll still request the live stage for Solar during the next stream since Monday goes absolutely crazy there.

I was looking forward to your reaction to solar, as I quite liked it, but if its not your taste there's nothing you can do about it 😅😅 don't worry, it happens. I had really mixed feelings about "ven para" , but it grew on me( I think it's just that I like the girls so much and they looked so happy performing it that I just learnt to love it)

Ngl I got really sad because I was waiting and excited for the release rn but I totally understand. It's confusing not knowing what you didn't like about it but you'll always have the right to not share what you don't want to

Completely understandable. Not everything will be to ones liking and I get that you prefer not uploading it instead of uploading something negative. Any chance of a Dreamcatcher listening party or is that planned for May?

Understandable. "Where is My Love?" is the only song I liked out if the 3 anyway. I wonder when we'll get another *Jiyoon song, since she is still on hiatus

I don't want to sound like I'm crossing a line but maybe if something similar happens in the future, could you please notify us ahead of time if possible? Knowing about the change right when it was supposed to go up was a bit jarring but it could just be me

Upshot

Yeah, sadly was the same for me. They are still one of my two absolute favourite groups, but this comeback was a letdown for me. Just hoping that this comeback didn’t hurt their momentum too much with how bad the overall reception was.

they sold like 90k albums and it was 2-3x their previous sales, it was in no way a "flopped era" just because you personally didn't like it.

Damn I ain’t mean to make y’all mad😅just saying they did not make the impact of their previous songs as you can see Pd not even finna post the vid💀. They did better sells this time around because… wait for it… the last comeback flopped. It’s ok no need to be upset happens to a lot of groups

None of their releases have “flopped” they’ve been continuously growing since debut. And I personally love all of their songs. Just because their music isn’t for you doesn’t mean you have to drag it.

We're just saying there's more to an album than just being full of hits that everyone likes to digest and that even past the growth in artistry, it was also a financial success. You're focusing on stuff that isn't true. So many great things came out of Play Game: Awake. But since this is the stance you're taking, maybe in the future you might see the light past trolling people.

I get why it could seem that way but you're putting them in a box that doesn't exist. Where Is My Love? isn't girl crush and neither are all of the OSTs and singles they've been releasing this year. Just keep an open mind. You're totally right in having an opinion, you just don't need to say it with hate too

I kinda of get where you are coming from. I love weeekly so much it’s hard to not love all of their songs for me. This is my least favorite batch of songs but i do think Solar goes hard.

No my issue is you dragging them for no reason using the term “flopped”. They have not “flopped”. Also they’re definitely not “another girl crush group” they intend to keep changing there music because they themselves have expressed interest in trying new genres. I’m curious what groups you like if you feel the need to drag them like this

Honestly understandable PD, none of their songs on this album spoke to me except Solar, that song slaps. But I am left feeling a little disappointed with this comeback, one of the things I really liked about Weeekly was that they felt like a breath of fresh of air. Their style was unique to them and personally I felt like they really suited that concept. I get trying out new genres and styles (staying the same forever can be boring) but I just don’t think song wise this concept suits them. The girls all look amazing though!! And Monday’s vocals?! Even though I’m not a fan of the songs or concept, the girls all did an amazing job and I can tell how hard they worked to pull off this concept even if it doesn’t really suit them.

It’s okay if you don’t want to release the video, but next time if it’s going to be like this, better to inform it ahead of time instead of inform it on the day of the release schedule. Actually, I’m waiting for this though, but knowing that you don’t like it, there’s nothing I can do. 😢

Yeah it’s best not to post the reaction if you didn’t enjoy it. Because people like reactions because they want to watch someone else feel things they felt. And if you felt differently from them, it would probably be disappointing to them. So it’s for the best

I think ven para and solar are what I'd call "performance-focused songs". They are pretty ordinary songs as a standalone but on stage, the song sounds better a notch.

I prefer their cute/teen crush concept. They are still young and the members are cute and energetic and girl crush is pretty boring nowadays because there are so many girl crush girl group right now. They thought that girl crush concept = global popularity. Even their commercial song 7 days Tension is better than their 2 recent comeback.

Totally understand! Although I’m kind of surprised you didn’t like Solar. I like Solar WAY more than I like the title track. But overall I think the concept switch was a terrible move on their company’s part. It was messy, didn’t fit the girls (no hate to them bc they did their best but it just felt a bit too mature and forced for them) and while there was a long time between it and and After School, I still think it was a bad move to completely switch concepts after the massive streaming success After School had. Hoping their team reevaluates things after this. So unfortunate for the girls bc they are so talented but this was just a bad decision from their company

Understandable PD. Weeekly was the biggest surprise for me last year with After School so I also expect a lot from them this year. Sadly for me, this is the biggest letdown comeback of the year so far. And they lost their distinct concept to another girlcrush again…their physical may increased but their digital was abysmal. They have potential with After school and sadly that momentum is gone.

Maybe, but they've yet to release a Kulture Study for Maison so I don't think it's likely. Besides, they usually wait until the next month for listening parties, sometimes longer for studio albums

they took down heir kulture study set, which is why they haven't been posting on youtube. I believe they mentioned they will get to new releases for kulture studies etc. this week?
