LMFAOOOOO UR REACTION TO NIKI

they made a japanese version of drunk-dazed but there is no mv, although there's a japanese ver. mv of tamed-dashed!

Yep, I'd definitely have liked some inserts from Sunoo, but from what I understand JP promos have behind the scenes included in the physical releases and those need to be sent off early, so that might have been the reason. It would also have been during their preparations for the concert. I expect that played into the reasoning, and at the end of the day Sunoo's health comes first. That said, I love love the filming of this MV! Their Japanese MVs are soooo epic. Have you checked out the Japanese MV for Tamed-Dashed? I absolutely adore it

such an awesome music video and it's always so interesting to hear your commentary on it!! really enjoyed watching this :)

They’ve could’ve used a body double for Sunoo for action shots (no choreo) and then filmed lip-sync or glamor shot inserts on a black background for Sunoo—or at the very least, they could have left a clear, person-sized gap to represent Sunoo in the ending shot. I had hoped that they would at least acknowledge him in some way, but they didn’t. Heck, it might’ve even been a possibility for them to use a shot from the green screen footage from Drunk-Dazed when they’re in their Prince outfits to shop Sunoo into the last shot. It makes me especially sad ‘cause I truly think this is one of their best MVs, or at least, it would’ve been one of my favorites, but I felt Sunoo’s absence so strongly that I’m not likely to rewatch it as much as their others.

I personally really don't like how hybe always does a japanese version of a korean title track for japanese realeases for txt and enhypen, I find it a bit lazy on their hands especially because they do it all the time and not like JYP does for Twice for exemple when it's only for a "best albums" release... But maybe japanese fans like that idk

Maybe they do? I wish there was some way I could just talk to a bunch of Japanese K-Pop fans and conduct a poll

Honestly, I think it's fine when companies release Japanese versions of Korean title tracks for Japan releases! I personally find it fun to compare each version like the lyrics and music videos, and in a way it's a little easier on them considering how hectic their schedules must be. If you think about it, they get new lyrics in a language they're still learning (sans Niki bc it's his native language lol), but they already know the choreography and how the song mainly goes. I expect original Japanese title releases further in the future, but right now I really don't mind. I'd say that Seventeen's method for JPN music with an original title and then the b-sides being Japanese ver of Korean b-sides/title tracks is very solid.

I can see several different sides of the Japanese version issue. My first thought was, "Well if I was Japanese, I'd feel like I was getting microwaved leftovers. I'd want original music." But then I realized it's exactly the same as having English versions of Korean songs, and that doesn't bother me unless they change the meaning of the song entirely or the English is bad. It's becoming a lot more common, but I don't EXPECT either English versions or original English songs, and even when there are English versions, I often still prefer the Korean. (Though not always; TAN's Du Du Du Eng ver is one of my fave songs of the year.) I suspect there's got to be some Japanese people who'd share that sentiment regarding Japanese versions. That said, I do generally prefer an original Korean ver over the Japanese, as evidenced by the wealth of original Japanese music in the SHINee playlist I'm currently listening to vs the very few Japanese versions of Korean songs. 🤷‍♀️ I agree that these days Japanese MVs are often better, though, and that annoys me. 😅
