About Sneakers: I agree with you, it feels very early Itzy and I think I would appreciate the song more if we had it earlier in their career, because since Loco my standards for Itzy's titles have skyrocketed 😬

I 100% agree with sneakers. It’s a good song but for me it didn’t do anything to progress the group. Like after mafia in the morning and Loco they were maturing their sound and the pre release promotion for checkmate seemed to continue in that vein until the sneakers trailer was released. It just felt like a big step back which idk it bothered me so I couldn’t enjoy sneakers as much. It just felt like a waste when comebacks don’t come as often. I wonder If i would have enjoyed it more if it was a single release in between albums or if they hadn’t made the pre release promotion seem so elegant and mature

I think we all got a surprise when they released the teaser for sneakers after all the ‘checkmate’ teaser photos, it’s fair ppl to be disappointed after being misled. When I heard it, I got icy era vibes & was excited anyways despite having different expectations. It definitely is early itzy but I love early itzy so I’m just as obsessed w sneakers as all their tt’s haha. Altho conceptually the album art & title aren’t in line w the rest of the album I’m not bothered by it I rly love the artwork & find it funny they’ve put young/cutesy vibes with rap/hip hop vibes. Itzy is all of these things as shown in the ep like u said. I was honestly happy to be taken back to their earlier vibe one more time. I cannot WAIT for their new ‘cheshire’ ep at the end of this month!!! Altho I am now suspicious of their teaser photos I’m not making any assumptions on the title until they actually reveal some teasers haha. Thank you for reacting to this I’ve been looking forward to it since July and it was worth it!

Jessica Pierpoint is a MIDZY, she has made a video about how she felt about her song being chosen by ITZY and then it being the title track. The original version is ENGLISH and her version with some modification to match what was changed LYRICALLY by Galaktica for the Korean Version.

you said exactly what i thought when i first listened to the album, that the rest of the album didn’t fit the same vibe as sneakers did. listening to the album just made me confused and i truly believed that they just added sneakers in last minute especially with the black and white royalty concept photos they gave us and then all of the sudden sneakers appeared in bright colors, it threw everyone off

hmm...I don't really vibe with nct127's music (just a taste thing) so in general the songs were okay for me, mainly because they do still sound like ITZY so they're not completely off the table

fun fact the song heejin in the credits who you mentioned did color full by redsquare was actually a member of the girl group good day a few years ago, which disbanded without a comeback, with the remaining members making up cignature and redsquare (2 or 3 now in irris). but she never joined those groups, she became a soloist and got married. also good day had like 4 different members called jiwon lol
