i think you touched on this, but i feel like sexy only works when its in a subtle/sensual way, rather than a more...vulgar way. i think of aoa and sister when i think of sexy in kpop, they weren't even sexy per se, just grown and womanly. i don't think of sexy at all when I think of lsf. i don't think i can, mainly bc of how young eunchae is, but i also just don't really see that as their branding. i think if anything, chaewon, yunjin, and even sakura at times can just naturally ooze a bit of grown-ness/sexiness that shows when they perform. kind of like how when gauen would perform and get told she was too sexy in pd48, even though she wasn't trying to be.

izone is my ult gg and i’ve followed their journey since fiesta. honestly speaking chaewon didn’t really have many stand out moments for me until sequence. i remember she did get backlash for having the short black hair cause ppl know her for the long brown hair and cute styling, but she has stepped up and absolutely killed this concept. i don’t think it’s necessarily a sexy concept, but just grown up and more mature. sakura too, if u told me in izone days kkura would have glowed up like THIS with a year of extra training i’d be doubtful lol but wow they’ve really grown a lot since izone. long story short now lsrf is my ult gg alongside izone. i’ve completely fallen in love with the other 3 members too especially after watching their contents. they’re such a complete group it’s insane. i hope you continue to check out more of them in the future too!

I am a big CHAEWON fan since her izone debut, so I have things to say about all these controversy around Chaewon's re-debut and her concept she's going for in LSRF. Actually, the debate over Lesserafim’s “sexy” concept is mainly about their group teasers andn their debut album. In particular, about CHAEWON’s individual teaser seemed to be hardly inspired by those old movies, that embodied a young girl through a man’s sexual fantasies. I partly agree. Their group teaser images with those tennis racket were very weird too. Though these debates literally faded away in SK with their Antifragile comeback. BTW, the whole concept she's trying to present through Lesserafim came very refreshing to me. CHAEWON already showed her cute, lovely side very perfectly during her izone days. Since she is going for another journey with LSRF-and it is expected to be longer than one with izone-her showing a completely different side than before, feels essential for their new journey. And she is pulling her new concept perfectly, so captivating. I am happy to see her growing as a very attractive woman, gaining a lot of new fans, and being confident to herself.

PD, there several things that contribute to Chaewon debut hate. The first one is the social media silence. Before any Le sserafim teasers were coming out, she has been silent for about 8-9 months already. And there was growing displeasure from fandom about it. Mind you that everyone knew Chaewon was in the lineup. The moment Woolim remove her from their artist lineup, reports about Chaewon and HYBE connection from the press. There was no reason to hide her. Sakura was put in the similar situation but she has contract obligations from Japan which made her come out to promote it. Second one is probably, her debut teaser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRfIUPQju4w&ab_channel=HYBELABELS People say it was too shocking. All i can say that this type of reaction came from casual fans or non fans. Because of what they casually see of Chaewon in the internet. From my perspective, Chaewon confidence started with Fiesta when she cut her hair short. People started noticing her. After that, she became roommates with Yena, and personalities match each other. To this day, they often see each other as mention by Yena brother. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/p-dTjSFN1ss Just look how Yena and Chaewon interact. Yena personality rub off to Chaewon, there is certain playfulness you see on Chaewon now. I largely contribute that to Yena own personality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz7M-dGRJtc&ab_channel=moshi And Chaewon really came out of her shell in Panorama era. Her confidence really shines through in that comeback. Last reason is probably the HYBE hate. Just because BTS is so dominant that people do not want their GG's to succeed. Given that it features two ex iz*one members (wishing it was three) and given the popularity iz*one. Kpop community were looking ways undermine their debut. They also made an attempt with IVE which failed (wonyoung hate). But for it kinda work for Le sserafim with Garam hate (bullying allegations) which led her leaving the group. It's really sad, this fandom wars that leads to ruining people lives. It's sickening.

Compare to IZ*ONE Chaewon (more to shy personality), LSF Chaewon feel much more confident but in the same time more pressure to do better as a leader, same goes to IVE Yujin, you can tell they really work extra hard to fit their role in the new group. They both did really well! LSF debut trailer, yes I feel they overdo with the sexy way, but now watching their MV and performance, instead of sexy, I feel they're a very healthy group, healthy body give them energy to shine bright.

Le Sserafim got a lot of hate at the beginning. I think mostly HYBE hate and Kim Garam's controvesy just added to that hate. IZ'ONE was also hated a lot because of the voting fiasco. Chaewon was one of the girls that were pointed out as not part of the final group and Sakura was hated because netizens said she had no skills and was picked just because she was a big star in Japan. However Le Sserafims image has changed a lot. First antifragile is doing great in the korean music charts and also the documentary helped them a lot too. I really respect Sakura and Chaewon for their decision to became trainees again and all the hard work they did. They could have gone through a more easier path but I'm glad that their sacrifices are paying off. Their image is changed in positive way.

I agree about the example Stellar but what about Sistar or AOA? Sistar was very popular but just wasn’t my cup of tea but I casually liked AOA

You probably didn't see it but Le Sserafim was basically bombarded daily by negative articles in Korea during their debut. Negative reaction to Chaewon's concept change was just a small drop in the bucket of the hate. Yes there were some Korean Chaewon fans that were disappointed in the initial change but the media articles blew it out of proportion. The hate against LSFM was SO extreme and methodical that a lot of us pre-debut fans started wondering if there was just a large amount of HYBE antis that had just gathered around to obsess and conspire to ruin LSFM's debut as hard as they can. Then recently an article in the Chosun Ilbo Korean Daily Paper came out and wrote that around 2-3 years ago Kakao secretly purchased a popular Facebook page called Idol Issue/Idol Lab (w/ 1.3 million followers) They found that this Facebook page then started releasing a bunch of defamatory articles about groups not owned by Kakao (which owns several companies like Play M, Starship, EDAM, etc), specially targeting rival GGs like Le Sserafim, New Jeans, Nmixx, Aespa, Twice, BP, etc. Some knetz also believe that the Facebook site also went into other online communities to run smear campaigns and secretly post and push their defamatory articles. On October 21, 2022, JTCB wrote an article and indicated that they had been investigating Idol Issue/Idol Lab since they were stealing JTCB's articles and they discovered that Kakao had secretly purchased the site. They were the ones who initially discovered that Kakao had secretly purchased the site from a private citizen. The Facebook site went down shortly after JTCB exposed Kakao as owners of the site. It is my personal belief that the Kakao articles were largely responsible for the extreme LSFM hate along with the blown up reaction against Chaewon's concept change. You can look up all of the negative LSFM debut articles on Pann Choa. And the biggest proof for me is just the fact that all of the articles on Pann Choa have been basically non-stop praise for LSFM during this Antifragile era. It can't be just a simple coincidence that Pann started liking LSFM RIGHT AFTER the Kakao Facebook page closed down in October. You can read more about it here: https://kbizoom.com/kakao-discovered-to-be-behind-idol-lab-which-media-gaslighted-and-defamed-many-competing-kpop-groups/ The Fair Trade Commission launched an investigation and Kakao is of course trying to deny everything https://www.allkpop.com/article/2022/11/kakao-entertainment-formally-denies-spreading-rumors-about-competing-agency-idols-through-the-facebook-page-idol-issue

Garam did debut and was with the group for the first little bit of promotions. Then the scandal hit and I guess since they had all the footage done, they just edited her out. I have already watched the documentary once but watching this little bit again I could see little bits of her like when they did the line formation. If you look to the right of Eunchae you can see some hair and a hand. I wish they had at least had some info on her and some real footage because she was a part of the process and and debuted as part of the group. but nope absolutely nothing referencing her.

Dryyym You

I think it’s more about the contract and stuff. They ended the contract with her so they are not really allowed to use the footage of her without the permission
