Jungsu has a similar tone like woojin (ex member of straykids) is insane how similar is

i'm so happy you are reacting to xdinary heroes! i fell in love with them after seeing them perform live at a festival in seoul a few months ago. have been streaming their songs nonstop since and will be seeing them again at their concert next month!!! so excited

Okay I've figured out my password issue haha. Anyway, PD, if you loved this album, you ain't ready for their previous album. They laid it ALL out on the table. And funny that you mentioned Muse as well as their music feeling western rock influence because Jooyeon said he is most influenced by 5SOS and Imagine Dragons, Gunil said he is most influenced by Muse, and Gaon said he is most influenced by Green Day. For me personally, I get HUGE My Chemical Romance with a sprinkle of Twenty One Pilots vibes. I know the entirety of MCR's discography and you could also call some of it gimmicky but it was always telling a story. And TØP mix the synth rock with rap so that's why I get those vibes. Anyway, I'll recommend some stuff on the community tab 🤗

They are slowly but surely entering my top 15/top 10 groups. They sure will if they keep this up. I feel like there is a punk influence in their style too, not just western hard rock, but western punk too. But song structure or "mindset" like you said is playful and K-Pop. Also eerie vibes, like they would fit a Tim Burton movie so well

Oh something else I meant to say was I was also shocked at Jooyeon being the maknae until I watched their variety content. That boy is maknae through and through. On the alignment chart he is what like to call...chaotic evil lol

Is it just me but I find Jungsu's voice is eerily similar to Woojin (former skz), I was so surprised bcs Jungsu's voice sounds so familiar when I first listen to Haircut ._.

They have so many covers that you can check out for bonus content. Drown, Tomboy and Hellevator being notable ones. I love their last album so much you definitely need to do a listening party for that. Pirates and Strawberry Cake are my favourite bsides from that album.

I think the only thing that doesn’t make this MCR is their singers! I see your observations of mostly MCR ft 21pilots and don’t disagree. I think what makes Xdinary jarring my different might be because they sing like both pop singers AND rockers. Whereas Gerard Way never even sounded like a rock voice to begin with he’s just…Gerard Way

Audrey Vasquez

Ah yes, I should clarify. It's mainly the type of rock sound they are going for that sounds like MCR. Songs like Headfirst for Halos, You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison, I'm Not Okay, Save Yourself I'll Hold Them Back, The Only Hope For Me Is You, and even some of their unreleased tracks like Make Room and We Don't Need Another Song About California. These are the songs that come to mind that have elements of anthemic rock, glam rock, punk rock, and always an element of story-telling. But yeah no one can sound like Gerard haha.

mel

no, it is very similar. I didn't notice until I saw their hellevator cover and I was like ?????? I really did adore woojin's voice so I'm glad I can stan someone who has that type of voice now :)

OMG RIGHT the hellevator cover and yep me too that's the very reason Jungsu is my bias i just really like his voice so much

I'm so glad you reacted to this album! Can't wait to see your reaction to Hello, World, it's slightly different, but I absolutely love it so much. And if you'd like some recommendations for groups that have a similar soundscape as this album, I'd recommend Ghost Town. It's not Kpop and it's not exactly rock either (I think it's something called electronic ore, but they're the only band I've seen described with this word), but I've been wondering what you'd think about their music for years now. They're disbanded now though, so their music will be older stuff.

i think xdh's "thing" or sound is essentially just exploring a lot of darker/weirder sounds through a band lens which makes them really fun to listen to! this minialbum really went all in on that. you definitely need to give their first mini a try too! strawberry cake is one of if not their best song! the other fun thing about them is, like you pointed out, they have their two insane main vocals (jungsu and jooyeon) but their rappers (gaon and ode) also double as lead vocals! them having four regular vocalists, two main two lead, means their songs always sound really balanced(?) in a way that's SUPER satisfying. gunil the drummer also has a lovely voice because he actually does have vocal training, but it's hard for drummers to sing so he only does vocals when there's room for it during minimal drum parts. junhan doesn't really do vocals but he's got a surprisingly deep-toned voice that works well for ad-libs and they sneak him in sometimes, especially on titles! but junhan is also funny because in a lot of songs, despite not being a vocalist, he's the "loudest" member because you can hear him absolutely SHREDDING during his signature guitar solos. i'd totally suggest their covers if you want to deep dive them more!

You got it exactly right. When I'm explaining to people why I love XH so much I always say it's because they do the punk rock music that I was obsessed with as a teenager but with the flair that made me fall in love with kpop in the first place. Everything is just so unique yet familiar, it just makes me feel comfortable listening to it. I love everything they've released

Swan Baek Jo

I love how you mentioned them being like the band "Muse" but in a weird way. That's actually pretty accurate, they just have the "Kpop touch" that makes the big difference. But I'd still love a collaboration between XH and Muse omg that would sound CRAZY

Jenni Tran

Since you like "xmas" so much, I recommend checking out their band performance video! Their face expressions and energy when performing the song is amazingg!

poubelle

rewatching this rn and just wanna point out when you said how lunatic is inspired by the band muse, the leader gunil is actually a big fan of them and consider them as his role model so you could say they have that influence in their music. and also you said the rapper o.de won you over this album and you're so right, he is an amazing rapper and vocalist. he was the one who did the cackle at the end of zzz and beginning of haircut and his adlibs are mostly so addicting. his voice is so unique and you also said you liked how sharp his rap sounds in their hellevator cover. i think you'll start liking him more once you react to more of their covers like drown and love me right
