BABYMONSTER 'Last Evaluation' EP 3

My bias line is Ruka, Asa, and Haram. I felt a bit bad for Ruka because “Gone”’is a full English song and the rap had to be in English too. Not her strongest performance, but again I think she still did well with what she was given. That fast rap was okay, but yeah her English wasn’t perfect in that part. I think her intro and ending was solid though. I can understand her. Had it been a Korean song or a Korean/English rap..I think she would have a better performance. But if I had to pick which performance resonated with me, it would be Team A..they were more cohesive as a group to me. Team B sounded amazing, they can sing and rap..but performance wise..I didn’t connect with them like I did with Team A. The feedback that Team B got from Suhyun and Yoon is very similar to what Jennie told them in ep2. “Who is their audience?” and how they should always try to give their attention to the listeners/audiences. For me it’s the connection, if I can relate or feel their energy or emotions by watching them. Then I’m hooked and watched every minute of it. For Team B, my ears was in heaven and I felt like a proud parent…but I wasn’t glued to my phone or laptop. It was the first part of it, they only gave me life in the end. However, I think they’ll will get better with stage presence and audience connection in time as well.

I think that for Lisa, the fact that she was a mentor In 2 seasons of produce in China did wonders for her ability to teach. Lisa in mentor mode is something I have always loved to see, and the fact that these are her hoobaes in YG makes me feel she's focusing even more on making sure they get better (not saying she didn't do so in the shows, la has always been serious about her craft)

I hope Blaire can watch the other girls live performances and introductions as well before the next episode drops, because as much as I also like Haram's voice I think Rora, Pharita and Chiquita are at least on the same level when you look at their videos that were released. I wonder if Blaire's opinion would change when she watches those videos too.

I think it's quite obvious who will make it at this point : it's very much ASA vs RUKA (Japanese Rapper), Pharita vs Chiquita (Thai Vocalist) and then it's between Ahyeon, Haram and Rora for the other 2 spots. I do NOT think YG will debut a foreign heavy group. More likely a 2 Korean, 1 Japanese and 1 Thai. For Balance. I think Ruka Age and pronunciation is below the others level & she's behind ASA and Ahyeon in rap in my eyes. I dont think she will make it. I think Chiquita will only NOT make it due to her age and Pharita has a better age and she's more vocally ready, but she has to show more charm, which is what Chiquita is heavily relying on. (But if this group is more than 4, she's the 5th most likely in my eyes). I think Ahyeon is making it 100% from the story, the perfect centre for them. So realistically it is Rora vs Haram. Haram is a better singer but Rora has more charm. This one would be a plot twist. if YG goes against prejudice of a 50-50 Korean-Foreign line... then I strongly believe this is the final lineup : Ahyeon, Pharita, ASA, Chiquita. (Rora,Haram and RUKA seem to lack in my eyes. They are missing charm)

from a 'visual' standpoint : AYHEON, ASA, PHARITA and RORA suit visually with each other...

All 7 of them are definitely debuting and YG is just using this as a marketing strategy. I, in no way mean to say, “YG wouldn’t do that” because there’s been numerous cases where they have introduced groups and still cuts down on members. But this whole last evaluation thing was filmed MONTHS ago, we can tell by jennie’s hair because she had orange hair when she went to coachella 2022 and that was in april, almost a whole YEAR ago. whereas, there have been pictures of all 7 babymonster members seen at YG as recently as two days ago. If YG was going to cut any of them out, wouldn’t they have done it already? As far as I can see, everyone’s debut is confirmed.

Lisa and her ENERGY! Man! I am just watching that through the screen and I could feel the atmosphere there completely changed and sort of "refreshed" the girls during their hard training! Her aura is simply unbelievable! Also she was included in the video much more than Jennie was. That might have been simply because of the edit, but anyway and enjoyed her interaction with them a lot! To compare both performances. First of all, I love both songs so much! I mean, I prefer Gone over On the Ground and Stay is one of my the most favorite songs by BLACKPINK. So I had big expectations from them and I did like them a lot! Although the song choice was really good, there are a few things I have a problem with. With Gone the rap section. I agree that Asa had her rap part much better not based on the song but on her skill as well, but still I think that the rearranged version of Gone wasn't really good for Ruka, so it would be better for both rappers to have another song, where they could prove their skill better and maybe even there we would find out that Asa is better, I am not saying Ruka is definitely a better rapper... actually they are really equal to me and I cannot choose and because of that I want both of them in the group to see their chemistry together. The thing they talked about in their feedback to the Team B. It was mainly about their ambition and stage presence. And although all of them are really full of ambitions and they have the monster in them, Haram and Rora have it the least and because of that the Team B had two members with bigger stage presence and two with less, whereas Team A had three members with equally balanced stage presence and that played the key role there, why I understand and maybe agree that their performance was slightly better than the Team B's. But based on the individual ranking, Chiquita and Asa might have made it higher than Ahyeon, Ruka and Pharita. Or higher than Ahyeon probably not, that's true. And that's the second thing I wanted to point out! They should have made the teams of 3 and 3 members and put Ahyeon in both teams as the 4th member. Because we have "against each other" Asa and Ruka. And then Pharita and I would say Rora/Haram, so that's two and then we have Chiquita, who is not that much skilled vocally as the other three, but since she managed to shine a lot it was 3 vocal "against" 1 and yes, Ahyeon was there as well as a vocal, but her position isn't similar to anyone one of them there and she is the perfect center in the term not like choreography, but she can balanced the group with all positions, basically she is the core of the group, I guess? I don't want to say all-rounder, because other ones there could be all-rounders too, but not in the way as Ahyeon is. About eliminations... I talked about this before, so to narrow it down. The only similar situation to this one is with BIGBANG and even there they got a second chance, although only one made it. So I still stand behind my statement that all of them will make it, because if they wanted to really eliminate someone, they would include here those trainees with blurred faces (I mean like they would have done this show earlier with them) and because of this I would say although someone or more of them will be "eliminated", they will give them another chance and then they will all make it. And yes, Yang Hyun Suk said: "The group will not definitely be formed of 7 members", but because of Jennie's hair we can say this evaluations were recorded like 10+ months ago and those solo performances from YG Ent.'s channel could have been recorded in the second half of the previous year. Those introducing videos were recorded throughout their stay at YG and their words there could have been meant like: "At this moment 10+ girls are trying to make it and I will be the one, who will make it", so I would not take their words from there that much seriously. Unfortunately I have no prove for those solo performances being recorded at the time I am saying, beside one and that is their skills. Mainly Ruka and her struggle in Gone, but for example even Ahyeon. After watching her solo performance I would easily say: "Yeah, she will handle any problem and complicated section in any song", but yet she struggled during their preparation as well. So my point is even if Yang Hyun Suk didn't lie at first and actually wanted to eliminate some one them, he could have changed his mind during this last evaluation and after that they didn't rerecord his statements and left it as it was and obviously all 7 of them continued on their training. Because we have to keep it mind that the project "BABYMONSTER" was about to debut in the previous years and to be fair they announced their debut to finally happen at the end of the last year right at the moment when YGEnt. stocks started to go down after iKON left, DaeSung left, TaeYang switched to The Black Label and speculations about BLACKPINK going to The Black Label arose as well. So basically they had to record this show at the same time of Jennie's ginger hairstyle, but they were postponing their debut on and on, so it would make sense that they managed to get even better than we see in these videos and actually their "final version" are those solo performances. And also... I started to follow fan accounts, where they gather photos of ALL members coming and leaving the YG building (I mean recently obviously). But to be fair, I admit there is a chance not all of them will make it, in case like the last episode would have been recorded after a long time skip in current days. So to narrow it down, Ruka, Rora and Haram are the ones I would consider to be eliminated. Ahyeon... that's a no brainer, as I said she is the core of the group and also she is fluent in English and Chinese, that will be useful for a global group. Pharita as well. I mean, I cannot choose the most skilled one based of their vocals (between her, Rora and Haram), but she is truly the cute baby with the monster inside her and she is apparently also fluent in English and for a non-Korean member she is fluent in Korean as well. Chiquita is really popular among fans and also if they didn't want her to debut now, they would have kept her for the future or transfer her to The Black Label for their upcoming girl group (probably the next year or in the another one) and also although I talked in a different comment about Haram being like Jisoo, so she will grow a lot, they can provide this with Chiquita too, because of her age and also how quickly she learns more and gets better. Asa is actually the only one I wonder about on this „sure to debut list“, because as I said I see her with Ruka to be equal to each other and I want them both to debut to have the rap line as in Treasure (HyunSuk, Haruto and Yoshinori), although here Ahyeon wouldn’t be the main rapper as HyunSuk is there. But it would be such a good combination!
But although Ruka might be the most skilled dancing-wise, they might have a problem with her pronunciation, since Asa is much better in languages in general, I guess. And also I can see Chiquita coming for the main dancer position so easily, so they would take care of this spot in the group as well.
So because of these reasons I see these 4 as the sure ones to debut and the reasons why I chose Rora and Haram (about Ruka I already talked) is simple.
Haram might not be the best, YET! Yang Hyun Suk wants the best there and although I said with Chiquita we might get the same progress as we would get with Haram, the key difference is the fact Chiquita can steal the whole stage for herself even right now and Haram might be able to do that after much longer time. And also dancing-wise she is the least skilled among the „non-dancing focused vocals“ in this group. Rora is actually really good one to debut, I cannot say anything against that, but her voice might not fit in the group. Dezzy mentioned: „Her voice is like she could be singing gospel in the church! I am curious how they will involve that in the group“ and I agree with his statement, she is phenomenal, but she might not be the right one for their style. Similar as JYP said in LOUD to Song Si Hyun (송시현, the one who auditioned with the idea of „Muca“ - cars being run by music), JYP was amazed, but he immediately asked him about the idol scene, because he wasn’t sure if the idol scene is for him. (Obviously in case of Rora I am talking about her singing style and musical direction for her future).
But to be fair if I should add a 5th member, so they are not 4 again and also so they have better number of members of choreographies, I would choose Rora or Ruka. Like it would make more sense to choose Rora, because of the reasons, why I think they might not choose Ruka. But if we have 2 vocals there already (Pharita and Chiquita), Ahyeon as the center of doing both singing and rapping and then only Asa as the „full-rapper“, I would add there Ruka as the second rapper, so it is 2 and 2 + Ahyeon… and also dancing-wise Ruka would push the group more than Rora. For the end one interesting fact. Teddy is apparently really totally out of this. Like he is not present even for the evaluation for the feedback or anything…

It's funny how Jennie's hair is basically the main prove 😅😹. Don't take it bad, I use that as well... I just think they should have thought about the timing a bit more, so it wouldn't be so obvious

Form of Therapy

Splitting the teams up pointed out each team’s strengths and their weaknesses and they seem to literally be the opposites of each other. So if you mix the two… YG 🤷🏻‍♀️ Dammit he’s good

Form of Therapy

They would never TELL Jennie to cover her hair… imagine if they had censored her hair color like they did the cut trainees

Form of Therapy

Didn’t Teddy “leave” YG and is heading The Black Label? It seems like Choice37, airplay & co. Might be not just the main producers at YG as they have been for a while but maybe even ONLY? And then taking into consideration TREASURE is writing more, some other groups left, etc etc. I wonder if they’ll handle ALL YG producing stuff from now on (except BP).

WiseSmellyLegs

Well the term "leave" is actually really good. He is still under YG, since The Black Label is a sub-diary of YG, but BLACKPINK seems to be the only connection to YG at the moment. I have a theory that BLACKPINK were supposed to be under The Black Label initially, because it was created not even a year before their debut and basically their logo is the same as BLACKPINK's and let's be fair, they are Teddy's "project". But YG came to a conclusion they have no more plans with 2NE1, so they decided to keep BLACKPINK for themselves to have a girl group and they kept him as the producer for them. But beside that, it really seems like Teddy is doing his thing and I would not be surprised if The Black Label started to be fully independent at some point. Also after YG opened the new building The Black Label kept the older one and I saw a joke about TaeYang's transfer to The Black Label that said: "So he simply missed the old times and co-workers from the early years..." 😅😅 But since Teddy was involved in all YG girl groups (okay, maybe not all... I am not sure about Swi.T), I was expecting him to have there some feedback or anything. But as it is now, I truly would not be surprised if BLACKPINK switched to The Black Label as well and YG would focus fully on BABYMONSTER and Teddy on his upcoming girl group.

WiseSmellyLegs

Is it really all 7 of them? I took a look on some fan accounts and there are no photos of Rora and Haram being with them… 😳😳 Edit: Alright… I checked the photos taken by fan outside the YG building and on some of them there were 3 of them, then 1, then 5 and every time those “formations” were made of Ruka, Asa, Ahyeon, Pharita and Chiquita… No photos of Haram and Rora… that makes me a bit worried 😕😕 With Haram there are at least photos of her graduation at school. But that doesn’t imply she is with YG still…

gen a *

A couple days ago, there was a photo of the five of them (besides Haram and Rora) leaving/entering the YG building so a lot of people were worried. I remember telling them not to, because Haram and Rora are the only ones who don’t live at the YG dorms. They still practice as a group but a lot of the time when Babymonster goes out shopping, it’s done without Haram and Rora because they’re at home with their families.

VPP2000

It would be very brave for YG if the group only has one Korean member. So, at I figure at least 1 more Korean member should be included. I still believe that all 7 will be debut together, as you and other comments has pointed out the reasons.

WiseSmellyLegs

I have seen comments like this that they don’t think YG or any other label would debut a group with only 1 Korean member. And I don’t want to sound mean, but I don’t see that as problem. What more if we consider the fact that Yang Hyun Suk is about to go global right from their debut. And even if it was a big problem for that many people (I mean having just one Korean member) I would say Yang Hyun Suk wouldn’t care about that. As PD talked with Dezzy in their very first reactions here to BABYMONSTER, PD said: “Man, they (P Nation) didn’t debut Koki, because of his age and YG doesn’t give a shit” And Dezzy answered: “Yeah… Yang Hyun Suk has a tough skin, he has been through some shit already…”

VPP2000

Well, maybe anything is possible with YHS in charge. Hopefully, all 7 girls will debut after they already tease us with all intro videos…
