I think this song is actually a tribute to the YG artists before them. For example, I think the song is inspired by Blackpink's "Kill This Love" and the set during the pre-chorus is very similar to that. furthermore, I also see similarities to Winner, IKON and BIGBANG. However, at the end of the song at the bridge I see their earlier concepts such as BOY, I Love You and Hello coming back. To me this says that TREASURE along with BABYMONSTER (in the future) should actually take over YG from Winner (whose success is going to decline as time goes on), IKON (who have left YG), BIGBANG (who have decided to all go their separate ways) and Blackpink (as negotiations on their contracts do not seem to be going smoothly).

Personally I really don't like this comeback. I can hardly hear Treasure's own sound. It's mostly a Blackpink copy. Basically Blackpink: male version. And I am not fond of BP's music.

Iris

yes exactly!! so many people aren’t understanding the whole “reboot” thing. i personally love the idea of it and this comeback was such an amazing first step

Serena

honestly i gotta say i dont really like this song that much :( i do like the verses but the chorus wasn't really for me. i just really liked the direction they were going in with hello and that album. probably also has to so with the fact that i kinda drifted away from them especially after yedam and mashiho left and yg honestly just fucked up their promotions. especially not bringing back regular treasure map and not letting them do comebacks so often was a dumb thing to do. but im also really proud of them, seeing their growth since predebut and they always have a special place in my heart. im hoping the next release will be more my style.

I really looove this comeback. It gets better the more I listen to it. I know they've always been influenced by their seniors but this one feels like the perfect amalgamation of all their previous sounds, giving it the ultimate TREASURE feel. Can't wait for the listening party! ❤️‍🔥

In terms of their how they carry themselves like youbsay junkyu and jaehyuk are really feeling themselves these days, I truly think their helped them a lot i went to their second stop in malaysia, 4th in singapore and last in hong kong, i could see their improvement how comfortable they are performing. Each one of them improved so much i am so proud of them 🥰

y4t

and the album is sooo good. it was songood that i actually would put bona bona last even though i like this song alot. That says a lot how good is the album

y4t

seeing you talked about potential and growth of the vocalists, you will love this album

Lilla

Their album is SO GOOD!! It is definitely my favorite treasure album ever. I really hope you'll enjoy it. I have to say that BONA BONA is actually my least favorite track, at first I wasn't really feeling it but after a few more listens.. man it is a really good title track BUT the bsides are top tier! I can't wait for the listening party

Aurayaya

the album is absolutely insane

Lia

i genuinely love this song but DAMN THE ALBUM IS PHENOMENAL!! the whole album has so much nostalgia and 2nd gen vibe and its mainly bc of the heavy participation of the members and them ading their own colors and elements from the music they grew up with. also, producer junkyu really proved himself by debuting with move and his other b-sides in the album are my favorites.

Lia

i agree with you cuz treasure always gives this raw youthful energy of having something to prove and consistently trying so hard to make it thru the industry and i really respect that, and them wanting to have a name beside being a group from yg or blackpink/bigbang's junior group.

Kiki

LOVE this song and LOVE this album. In general though, I feel like the loud chorus and party outros are just getting old and repetitive for me. I know they're like a signature yg thing (and basically a staple of treasure title tracks now) but I'd love some songs with vocal choruses, especially considering they have such good vocalists.

I love this song; it's getting better every time I listen to it. It's funny that the first-time chorus reminds me of Blackpink but not with the second time when the set is changed !!! So I really think they meant to tribute to Blackpink. I heard YG composed this song during the pandemic year (2019) among distance composers so they seem to have a good plan for our boys in this. What I can tell you is that every song in this album is made for Treasure Concert !!! It's really that GREAT. One thing I want to compliment about "Bona Bona" and "Move" is that both of choreography are SUPERB. BTW if you have a chance to check out Bona Bona dance practice, you might also want to check out the ‘BONA BONA' DANCE PRACTICE Behind The Scenes [T.M.I ep.37]. It just came out yesterday and I found out that their practice environment is really fun to watch.

By the way, why is it the Kulture Study "EP1" 👀?

I see your point why it feels like their music was leading to this song, but just from the perspective of them combining many things. But from the perspective as you said: “chronologically/album-wise”… Not really… Before their debut, YG announced they were planning to have their discography release order and albums’ forms/types in the way as BIGBANG did. Which was having 3 single albums and then full length album, which would combine songs from the 3 single albums. Then start to have mini albums, again 3 in a row and after that having the 2nd full length album, which would include songs from the mini albums or at least their remixes. And since they were really following this release order until now (The First Step having 3 chapters (single albums) and then its full length album and then The Second Step Chapter One and Two), it is really likely they were planning to have The Second Step Chapter Three and then having the 2nd full length album The Second Step: “Something”, which would include songs of the mini albums. But probably because of the departure of members and then Yang Hyun Suk becoming YG’s CEO again and being in the charge of taking care of Treasure for the first time since their debut, he might have decided to change the plan and make this “fresh restart” for them. Which is kind of cool. I was hoping they would keep the original idea of having their discography as BIGBANG, but it really feels like this is the new beginning and everything works just fine. No big change of their sound. Actually they are paying a homage to their songs and to the songs of other YG artists as well and not just here, but on the b-sides as well… I cannot wait for the listening party! 🙏🏽🫱🏽‍🫲🏾

idk how they keep outdoing themselves every comeback, but honestly im all here for it. also love how this reboot gave them the extra push they needed to showcase their determination of being the artists they always strived for.

Cah Cah

But Hello didnt do so well with the charts and album sales. Could be why they decided to go for more edm tt.

Masal

This song really grew on me🙈

Kiki

i guess so! they have a lot of vocal choruses in their bsides, i just wish they'd do it in title tracks too

Amidala48

Last weekend, Treasure performed BONA BONA with a live band on Summer Sonic 2023's main stage. From many clips that people have recorded, the song is tremendous and super FUN.

fien

Bona Bona is so amazing when they perform it with their live band at concerts! They released their performances of Bona Bona and MMM rock version of their seoul concert on their channel btw! definitely worth watching!
