"It's more fun when he's around though" - Ianto Jones It wasn't very surprising that you would go bananas over who was playing Captain John. The reaction went a bit incoherent for a few minutes there after his entrance - but that was wonderful. Captain John was a great razor-sharp villain and James Marsters was great playing the character. All of a sudden we get a big dump of information about Jack's backstory - but it just leads to more questions. Looking back at the plot, I'm not quite sure why Captain John really needed the Torchwood team to find the pieces of the device. I know what he said, but I know he lies, so I know I don't know. The blowfish was working for/with Captain John, I guess, but I'm not sure why the blowfish had the missing pyramid for the device. But it's not really about the treasure hunt plot - it's a story about the Captain John vs Captain Jack and the team. When Jack tells Captain John that the name of the organisation is "Torchwood", Captain John asks why it wasn't named "Excalibur". This is a production in-joke because "Excalibur" was the original name of this sci-fi/crime show concept before the idea got folded into the Doctor Who universe and picked up the name "Torchwood". RTD originally planned to write the first episode of this season - but he ran out of time with all the other things he was writing - like "Voyage of the Damned". The pre-title sequence with the blowfish driving the sports car (and the old woman's reaction) to Jack's re-introduction was RTD's script contribution to get Jack back on board and then let the episode author write the rest of the story. BTW at the end, Captain John said he found "Gray".

Haha yes the Captain John entrance was something else :D :D I know I celebrated it for way too long and probably missed some dialogue, but I couldn´t hold myself back. I just couldn´t :D You´re right, questions over questions. The more we know.... "So I know, I don´t know", I like that sentence :D To be honest I was so overwhelmed by Captain John, the plot could have a thousand plot holes in it, I wouldn´t have been able to name one. :D But I guess you are right about the pieces of the device and the blowfish. Ohhh thank you for explaining that Excalibur joke to me. That´s so funny :D Oh he found "Gray" not "Grace".... Thank you for telling me. I got that one wrong then. :)
