The Great Helm. It's probably the one who would work the best both for a hero or a villain.

RegularEveryday

Armet, looks great, face protection, and looks like it would be better ventilated than the great helm

Arrol Alcantara

great helm, simple design yet aesthetically pleasing

Joshua Shaw

Probably Kettle Helm for breathability, but Armet as a close second

Mac-G

Arnett because is a classic design.

Danielle W.

Great helm because it’s the look I associate with the childhood ideal of the heroic knight in shining armor character of fable.

Kettle Hat. Because as a foot soldier, I need to breath and walk around and stuff. :-D Also, it would work decently as a soup pot for the evenings stew. I dont like helmets with a complete viser. Too little air and too small a field of view. I would rather go without that additional protection, if I get more stanima and thus fighting abillity without it. I do have a Pappenheimer, which is the best of both worlds I think.

Honestly, I'm split between the Armet and Great Helm, as both are freaking magnificent! The others are great too, ngl, but these two specifically just speak to me. You know?

Insomniac Gaming Theater

The Armet. It's more elegant, with smooth lines and less bulk. Obviously, it's less protective, but if I'm needed armor for protection, I'm bringing a tank! 😆

Velkhana

Armet. The quintessential knight helmet.

The Talanton X

Great Helm for the reasons a lot of people are saying Armet, it's the aesthetic I associate with knights.

Larry Garfield

Armet. Most flexibility, good protection, looks cool.

James John Nazarowski

armet. good vision, good air flow, lighter weight, good protection.

Wolflover1997

Armet looks like a good compromise between protection and visibility

Robert Bell

Obviously the frogmouth. Just to be contrary.

AE

the Armet :-)

PizzaGulper

I know it's not the most effective here, but I'm a fan of the Great Helm because of how iconic it is and how cool it looks.

Justin Henning

The Armet, elegant, esthetically pleasing and offers great protection.

ViggenCA

Of those four, the great helm - classic look takes the win, for me.

bones_bn

Great Helm. So intimidating.

Peter Guhl

Kettle hat because it's pragmatic. And it looks a bit like Calimero, one of the heros of my childhood's TV program 😄

Gary Slator

The kettle hat was clearly so ubiquitous across many parts of western Europe (albeit with slight variations) and for such a long span of time - gotta be the kettle hat for me!

Quasijoe

The Armet. I'm claustrophobic but have uses for my face.

Abradolf Lincler

Either the Frogmouth or the great helm. They just look so bad ass.

Melonenbaum

It's called great helm for a reason!

Fil Simondi

Despite the Frogmouth being the epitome of coolness and the Great Helm being the most iconic, I'd pick the Armet: still badass looking while slightly more practical.

Hessi James

Either the armet or the frogmouth, they look the most intimidating.

Amber

Frogmouth but for no other reason than puffing out chest and making frog sounds when wearing it. Would do it all the time.

Georg Nieuwmeijer

Between the Rmet or Greathelm, but greathelm wins by a bit.

Ulfhednir117

The Armet, Because it is contoured to the head and has excellent vision... at least all the ones I used when I fought in the SCA..... I know folks think the SCA is not as period as it could be but when you drop the visor and lock it in place you feel like a GOD of War and can take a hit to the head that would crush a skull. SKOL!🤘

BloodyBender82

The kettle hat because tea time doesn't stop for raids.

Rick K.

Personally, I prefer the look of the Zischägge, or lobster tail pot helmet that was popular throughout Europe during the 30 Years War and even into the English Civil War. Some are still available for sale or on display in lots of different places. A few modern armorers make and sell decorative reproductions. I’m not sure if anyone makes HEMA-qualified versions.

Damien Stadler

I'd say the Armet. Regardless of what is actually better for defense, the Armet is what normies like me think of when they imagine "knights on horseback." The contouring, the easy visor, its ability to be worn without adjusting your stance to allow unimpeded vision, all combine to make it stylistically at least a preferred helmet. However, I as a fantasy author will find it very useful to remember that other such helmets existed and were used extensively despite their less-refined appearance. No offense to anyone who wants to look like a fighting frog ;-) EDIT: Now I want to slap some googly eyes on that Frogmouth. Imagine riding into battle with the googly eyes jittering all about up there!

Sandra McKendrick

I'm a bit late to the party for this one, but here's my two penn'orth anyway (with no knowledge whatsoever about armour) - I like the Great Helm because it looks like it would provide the most facial protection, while having small holes that might give better air circulation/ ventilation, perhaps making breathing easier, and being less bulky and heavy than the Frogmouth appears to be.

Travis Hancock

i am partial to the kettle hat, because my favorite helmet overall (aesthetically) is the German gothic sallet, complete with a bevor.

Donna Browne

I like the Kettle Hat because I’m claustrophobic. I know… sounds like a stupid reason.

Jeremidas

I love the Maximilian, the lines are gorgeous and it’s the pinnacle
