Welcome Back Metatron!. I am a history teacher and I have been a following you, Scholagladitoria, and others for several years. I just started practicing with a HEMA group in my area. (Unfortunately, stay at home orders have hindered the club from continuing our in person meetings, so its been the weekly video lesson from our instructor), Our fencing instructor follows the English long-sword/fencing tradition, mainly George Silver, Silver had a well antagonism to "Italian" style fencing. my question to you is do you know what differentiates the various "styles" of fencing such as English vs Italian, French, Spanish, or German?

Hey Metatron. What do you think about making a Discord channel? I think it would make it much easier to communicate and keep up with your work. Some other history youtubers like Kings and Generals or Brandon F. made their own and it works just fine. You can check out how the latter one works as it is open for everyone.

Metatron

I totally should! I'll see what I can do :)

Hello metatron. Happy to see you in fine shape. I'm currently in the middle of worlbuilding for my third novel, quite inspired from medieval japan (you're such an inspiration). I may have a lot of questions but since i know you're quite busy i will focus on my one choice: Could you talk a bit about law enforcement and weapon regulation in cities during Sengoku period? I'd really like to build something consistent with original details but i've some trouble finding information. Thanks and have a good time.

Hi Metatron, glad to see you're back in full health! I recently came back from Japan as I spent some time there and immediately got absorbed in the process of researching/writing my Master's thesis. As a teacher, I was wondering if you have some tips for practicing languages effectively (Japanese in my case) having little time at your disposal. I would say specifically about kanji memorization. Also, completely different topic: what about japanese martial arts didactics? I was thinking about Yagyū Munenori's teachings, but maybe there are other manuscripts/documents as well. Thanks a lot for your excellent content and have a great day! All the best from a fellow italian in the north :)

How was the Byzantine Empire able to hold onto parts of southern Italy and Sicily for a time while being not connected with the rest of the Byzantine Empire.

Did the Ostrogoths see themselves as part of the Roman Empire when they took over Italy?

Greetings Metatron, I just watched your recent video on your Top Ten Worst Martial Arts and understand that you plan to do other videos on the best and worst traditional martial arts. I am interested in this subject, but wanted to request a comprehensive/scholarly approach either in lieu of or in addition to entertainment. I.e., a deeper analysis of the advantages and disadvantages/strengths and weaknesses of traditional martial arts, probably just treating of one art per video, or perhaps a discussion of some of the popularly misunderstood aspects of martial arts such as what ki actually means in and how it is manifested in Japanese martial arts. On another note, as a Tae Kwon Do practitioner, I would also be interested in a discussion of the relationships military/cultural/etc. between Japan and Korea or other cultures/nations, i.e., how interaction with the U.S. contributed to the imperialism that resulted in the occupation of Korea. Much obliged for listening to my thoughts.
