No frogmouth, thanks. For me the Close Helmet is the best (the mostest knyghtlyest of all), after that the "T" barbute and the old bronze Villanovian stile ones.

Posted my answer on youtube, but to add here, the " T " barbute is up there on my list also, just not tops.

I'm neither a frogmouth lover nor hater. I can admire the practicality of the design but the shape overall just doesn't appeal to me much, so that cancels each other out. Then again, I'm not much interested in cavalry in general, and even more so in jousts of peace specifically. I'm more of an infantry fan. Y-shaped Barbute is really nice, maybe number 2 for me (I prefer it to T-shaped) but I'd probably go with a visored Sallet as number 1 - specifically the German style with a more elongated neck protection at the back (more rounded, cut-off styles not as much). Though the cheaper, non-movable-visored versions that still cover the face and just leave a narrow eye slit have that mean no-fancy-just-business look to them and might also be up there with some movable-visored designs. Number 3 would be probably earlier cheek-plated open-faced helmets like the classic roman Gallic helmet (Montefortino would be a bit too basic for me) in the 5$-tier image just to the side... but then, seeing it right here might have an influence on that decision. :)

I have two favourites. 1. My novgorod helmet 10th-11th century because its pretty. 2. My Tjele helmet.
