Hello my dear Patrons! Here is an AWESOME project you allowed me to create through your support here on Patreon. It's a collaboration between me and the craftsmen at Scutae Borealis (link below)

They have been making a historically accurate Viking round shield for me and the shield is now complete! This is just a little preview, which is also public on their website, but of course, as soon as I receive the shield (in about a Week) I will make an unboxing and first reaction video for you here! Just to give you some info on the shield.

Planks: Pine wood

Grip: Beech wood

Covering: Raw hide

Clamps, nails and boss: Mild steel

Paints: Mix of albumen, woad and lime

The planks taper towards the edge, just like originals.

I'll tell you more on the Patreon exclusive unboxing video, and subsequently on a dedicated historical video on the channel.

Stay tuned! And always thank you for your support. You made this happen. This shield exists because of your continuous support.

More history has been broght back to life.

Wish I still did Viking reenactments. I have made a few shields but I cheated and used plywood and cut out the shield. It was able to withstand more punishments in fights that way. Plus saved on a lot of time and wood craft skill i didn't really have back then. Still really cool to see the process pictures to compare it to how we did things.

As someone who wants to make their own shield in the near future, very cool seeing this pics.
