Please do Selena Gomez’s new album ‘I said I love you first’

christyishere

I love the music videos, I'm always a bit disappointed when artists don't put out any visuals. The animal in the Like JENNIE mv is a capybara, Jennie called them "the best creatures on earth" once haha

My thing with this album is basically what I feel most of the time regarding every blackpink album: the coolest visuals, the greatest production amazing features and beat selection but not other substance other than let’s party, I’m rich and pretty and everyone hating cause I’m famous, which are great and dope listens but no a whole album about it. Which is why I loved Rosie cause it really did break out of that mold, and Jennie is like my favorite in the group so honestly I was expecting at least a song with “depth?” But yeah cool album nonetheless I just hope she continues to grow her artistry cause I love her voice and besides saying all this I feel like this is the best solo out of all the blackpink members, hands down with Rose’s being a close second

some early blackpink stuff was absolutely stellar but my problem with them started when ddu du ddu du blew up. teddy (their producer and writer) seems to be just chasing the high of d4 over and over again so now every single song is just a d4 copy. i miss the times when we would get 'pink' (softer) title tracks./singles like as if it's your last or stay (or lovesick girls). also having every single song be them talking about how pretty, rich and better they are than everyone gets boring super quick. i think the girls have super pretty voices but i think they've gotten complacent :( i just wish they would really really experiment/do something totally unexpected. and this translates to their solo work. rosé went the most rogue with rosie but even then i just wanted her to push just a BIT more; don't even get me started on lisa's

jade

also handlebars is a pretty solid pop song but WHY does it seem more like a dua song than a jennie song ft. dua????? like jennie's voice almost disappears after the intro

Please please please react to The Forever Story by JID! You’ll love it!

Bangtan is life

I was genuinely surprised by this album, the first listen I wasn’t sure how I felt but then on the second listen with the lyrics I ended up loving it, and it’s one of my favorites now🙌🏼

Capybaras have like 0% capability of aggression in them, like manatees. Chillest animals on the planet.

Aspects of With the IE reminds me of Jenny from the Block 🤔

jade

it samples it! that's why it's called with the ie because jenny from the block is jenny with a y whereas jennie spells her name with an ie

I thought it had to have a confection! Thanks for the confirmation!!

I became a patron just to watch the full version of this album reaction that I stumbled on and it did not disappoint! I enjoyed it so much, loved how honest and real you kept it too even as a fan who has followed the girls for years, I always prefer genuine reactions like this over pretending to enjoy things! I do wonder where is the Love Hangover reaction though? I could not find it and would love to watch that too👀 Anyway, back to the reaction - especially loved your interpretation of Starlight, you were spot on! She cried while performing it at Coachella, it really was a very personal song to her. FTS also didn't pull me in at first listen but at Coachella seeing her perform it live really made it click, she said she meant the song to be cathartic, it came after a late night conversation with her co-writer Bibi about their struggles and negative opinions of others etc and at one point they were like you know what fuck that shit lmao and you can really feel that catharsis in her performance imo. I don't know if you react to live performances on this channel as this is literally my first time here lol but if you do I'd love for you to react to her Coachella performance - week two, simply because she seemed less nervous but also more full of emotion as well, that was also the week she cried during Starlight because her mother was watching. I'm really proud of her for this album ofc it's not perfect and even as a fan I don't love every single song but she really took risks, she said there were several songs (like Zen, Seoul City and Starlight) that her label did not want because they were too experimental and risky but she fought to have them on the album because she wanted to make music she herself would like listening to (and her taste is quite eclectic, she sometimes recommends songs and they are so diverse). She really comes across very authentic I feel. To finish this rambling comment here's some info about twin: it is about her best friend of 10 years who she had a falling out with, her friend's Korean name is pronounced as "swim" which is why towards the end she says "swim" instead of "twin, it really is an open letter to her which is why she repeats "it's like i'm writing a letter but i'm writing a song", almost as if debating whether to reach out personally instead but ultimately choosing a song as closure. And she was right about making things right when they get older - recently they made up and were spotted together at Coachella this year for the first time after their falling out (it used to be their tradition to go together every year back then). Anyway yeah thanks so much for the honest and intelligent reaction! And again, if you could point me to that Love Hangover reaction I'd love to watch that too!
