The creator said that bts releasing dynamite to make people happy and united sparked the beginning of making this film because they wanted to do the same for people.

I like how you can tell there were real kpop fans behind the movie, they nailed the vibe and all the small details about the whole culture, the fans, the industry etc. I didn't expect to love it so much but what can I do, the visuals are stunning, the humor was perfect, the messages touched me, and most important of all: the MUSIC. I swear to god, the whole soundtrack has gone three times platinum in my bedroom.

I loved this movie so much! The story captivates you from the beginning and the soundtrack is fantastic, I'm obsessed with the songs. The voice actors also did an incredible work. The only thing I wanted to change was Jinu's death, I was rooting so much for him to be free and have a happy life in the human world 🥲 But the movie is great, so much fun and deserves all the hype!

This made me so happy 💓💓💓 the soundtrack has been going INSANE in the charts worldwide and also on my apple music 💀 constantly on repeat! Such a special movie, honestly I love it most because it brought so many kpop fans together, regardless of generation, girlgroup stan, boy group stan etc, all fandoms came together to love and support this movie and in this day and age when fanwars are a dime a dozen, it was just perfect and healing. I'm so glad you watched this movie. I love it so much, the messaging is great but the music is on another level. I'm OBSESSED! It's been playing on repeat and not just because it's catchy but cause the lyrics are amazing. I'm so happy that they have got so much hype, totally deserve it. Hahaha so much so that they have beat BTS's records on the charts. I’m obsessed with this movie and the music. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack like everyday since I first saw it. Watching with you is like my 6th or 7th time seeing it. It’s so good. And it came at a perfect time for me because I just started getting into kpop about a year ago (thanks to V’s Layover album, which I’m also obsessed with). I love how much this feels inspired by the magical girl animes I loved growing up like Sailor Moon. I love how much care the team behind this movie put into it. The story, the animation, the music. It’s all just so stunning.

My favourite little behind the scenes thing is that the singing voice of Rumi, EJAE was brought on as a songwriter and vocal producer, she was not hired to voice Rumi. As part of her job she actually sang and rapped for every character (including the boys) as a sort of demo of what the songs would sound like with proper singers. As time went on they found singing voices for Zoey and Mira but didn't make any moves to hire anyone for Rumi, because without EJAE's knowledge everyone else had decided they wanted to keep her vocals. She was asked if she would please be the official Rumi singing voice and she gleefully accepted. She has worked on the project since late 2020 and has been instrumental and creating the movie behind the scenes, so everyone getting to hear her voice feels so deserved. It hits even harder when you learn that EJAE was a trainee for 10 years but both her solo and group debuts failed. She is mostly known as a songwriter for other artists. And now she is at the top of the billboard charts. insane.

This movie was such a great surprise. It is really good and you can feel how the creators are kpop fans and really understood the culture and the songs and really dedicated só much effort to make these bangers. I'm sad that Jinu died but I understand that this was the perfect arc for him (if they decide to bring him back in a sequel I won't protest though haha). Also, since the movie came out, there were some kpop artist doing covers of the songs and I really hope someone on the request tier will add some of them (specially free with Alexa and Junhee).

this movie is such a nice surprise and I'm obsessed with the songs!! also, idk if you remember when you reacted to A.C.E, but Junhee - their leader and main vocalist who you loved - put out two AMAZING covers of Your Idol and Free (with AleXa, an incredible female idol) and I think you'd love it too!

Finally got to watch this with you. I knew you’d love it! So dang good! The creators are Korean American but you can absolutely tell they have a true love for kpop, not only the music but that fan/artist bond. You can tell their love of kdramas and movies with some of the romance tropes highlighted. Korean media just really knows how to do emotion so well. Reminds me of when you watched train to busan. Like you go in just expecting zombies/good music but find yourself crying and a broken but full heart. lol I actually really love that we didn’t learn about the other saja boys and their names were just traits like romance and mystery. I think it shows the good vs evil/demon side of kpop. The good side showing the girls as individuals with feelings and have music with depth and true connection and helping their fans while the other side the boys are just a product where the fans don’t see them as people so really their personalities don’t matter anyways and surface level lyrics just for obsession and not for true human connection. Btw I’d love to see you watch kdramas. I know you’ve seen some of squid game but that isn’t really a ‘traditional’ feeling kdrama. The ones with romance are where they’re at. lol I think your hopeless romantic heart would be very satisfied. lol personally I think kdramas put American shows to shame in that department. Even the bad ones just seem to make you really want to root for them. I think I’d pick Itaewon class (more of a revenge focus with a bit of romance) or extraordinary attorney woo (an autistic attorney but the romance is precious) as first suggestions. 🤔 The traditional kdramas are one season typically 16 1hr episodes.

Im glad you watched this! After seeing it a few times I really don't think jinu is dead. He gave his soul Rumi, his soul became her sword. As far and the tiger and the bird, many think those are jinus mom and sister somehow. And the fact that they are kinda chilling by rumi now, that its to be near her but also to jinus soul.

JK and Namjoon convinced me to watch this and I will not regret. Story, music, characters. All top notch. I'm addicted to the soundtrack too. I'm listening to all these songs everyday for the last week or so😅 Edit: Fun fact, JK noticed that there is a mistake in Jinu's pronunciation in one song, and actor who voiced Jinu reacted to the clip of JK when he talked about this. There are 2 actors who voiced Jinu, the one who sings (Andrew Choi) talked about this.
