i have literally been TWEAKING waiting for this notification omg

Portia Crain

Ahhh yay I stayed up until 2 last night to see if you would post.... so freaking excited to listen with you... p.s our girl is in love and I am so here for it... I am a romance junkie after all

ang

we are so back 🤍

evelyn🌷

ahhh just got out of the release party. i’m so excited!! was literally WAITING to see your reaction

Portia Crain

On father figure and you just said you can't imagine taylor talking about Dicks on a song and I just started cracking up thinking of wood 🤣

ang

charli is married to george who is the drummer for the 1975 with matty healy and on charli's album brat she has the song sympathy is a knife about taylor i'm sure there's other stuff that taylor knows from behind the scenes in the industry that we aren't privy to but that's pretty much the gist of it

EB

Some references in “Elizabeth Taylor” that might have been overlooked by folks who are unfamiliar with her: -“I’d cry my eyes violet” Elizabeth had violet eyes (really a dark blue, but looked violet under certain lighting) -“Do you think it’s forever?” Elizabeth was married eight times to seven different men -“white diamonds” Elizabeth had a famous perfume called White Diamonds that was released in the 90s. I believe it is still sold today. I’m sure there’s more, but those are the ones I picked up on as someone who grew up with a mother who was a fan on hers. Also, she was ICONIC. That classic image you have in your brain of Cleopatra? That’s Elizabeth from the 1963 movie. She started as a child star, so those born in the 30s and 40s grew up with her. I worked at a movie rental store when she died and that week so many older people came in to rent her movies and when checking out they would reminisce about her and were genuinely so upset about her death and in disbelief. I really love a lot of tracks on this album, with my favorites being Elizabeth Taylor, Actually Romantic, and CANCELLED!. As I listen to the tracks more though, Wood, Opalite, and The Fate of Ophelia have really grown on me. There’s only a couple tracks I’m not a big fan of. I have seen some criticisms online already of the lyrical content of the album as a whole, and while I can understand where some people are coming from with criticism of the overall themes, it’s just like - damn, can we just have some fun without ripping everything and everyone apart?

Bee

HELL YEAH MY GOAT IS HERE

ang

this album is so good idc what anyone says i love love and i'm so happy that she's finally happy and free and truly living her best life you can hear it in her voice and in her lyrics and it's just radiating everywhere thank you for such a fun reaction to such a fun and uplifting album 🧡 she COOKED on wi$h li$t endless amounts of pure serotonin injected into me when i hear it

Portia Crain

My final thoughts overall no skips like almost always for TS .... my favorite are honey, wish list and canceled... I freaking cried my eyes out for honey and wish list just to know she's happy.... Canceled I am not really sure on why Blake is in the negative spotlight I tend to stay away from all of that, but I just loved that loyalty and that been there done that vibe!!! And ruin the friendship just takes me back to fearless era which is one of if not my fav Era... the soooo specific to her but so relatable writing... and I think the message is so important take chances because you never know and living in the what ifs suck.. "The life of a showgirl" overall is one 8.5/10 on my scale!!! I love the sound and the upbeat fun vibes it gives!!!

kamryn

soooo happy you like it!!!!! and this album just grows the more you listen to it. we need more taypositivity rn in the world of haters

Caitlin Goerlich

I just started watching, but sir, I need a reaction to Taylor's appearance on New Heights now more than ever. Just saying. LOL

Adds

Was looking forward to this!!

Thestephoney

Yes Father figure is about Scott and her masters

Tiffany

Thanks for the reaction! I’ve been looking forward to it. I’ve really enjoyed this album. Not my favorite (yet, her albums always change and grow with me with time) but definitely an amazing album that I can’t wait to listen to on repeat.

Brooke Noelle

‘Big Dick Trav’ just killeddd meee 😆

Veronica Key

I think ruin the friendship is about her friend, Jeff Lang who died. She wrote about him on red as well in Forever Winter. He died of an overdose. It’s such a sad song. But I think it has a beautiful message about speaking up and not letting moments pass that you’ll later regret. This was so much fun to watch! You’re one of my favorite reactors. I always look forward to your reactions. You always have really insightful things to say. I’m so glad you love this album as much as I do! 🫶

Bunny

the cut off 😭😭 you kill me

Kayla🫶

oh my gosh i’m SO happy that you loved it!!!! i’ve been seeing so much negativity and it’s been getting on my nerves lol. I love this album and it’s such a good send back to her fun pop music that i have missed so much even tho i love all of her folklore-ttpd music 🥹😭🫶

Jasmin🖤

Needed to see someone appreciate this album with me today so I’m jamming along with u

EB

Yes, please!

Bee

watched the whole thing and I knew I could count on you for getting it the first time around. always a pleasure enjoying new music with you, Michael ❤️‍🔥

Thestephoney

Ruin the friendship feels like a track five more than Eldest Daughter

Jared

I’m obsessed with this album!! I’ve been listening every waking minute for the last 24 hours. No skips imo. And it just keeps getting better with every listen. Immediate favs are Elizabeth Taylor because that chorus and melody is everything. Cancelled because it’s so rep coded and rep has been one of my favorite albums by anyone ever since its release and I love that energy from Taylor. And closing out the top three is Opalite. It’s just so fun and bright and cute. I’m so happy that she’s happy and you can almost hear her smiling when she’s singing it. I feel like it’s the spiritual sequel to The Prophecy. Like this love changed the prophecy for her, healed her and made the world brighter.

Caitlin Goerlich

CANCELLED! can absolutely be about Blake, however, the timing doesn't match up. Taylor said she worked on and finished this album during the European leg of the Eras tour which was summer 2024, while everything with Blake didn’t start up until the end of the year. Personally, I think its about Sophie Turner because she received a lot of backlash during her divorce from Joe Jonas which was 2023 and beginning of 2024. Sophie and Taylor also started publicly going out to dinner together after the divorce news broke and people thought Taylor was trying to help her friend fix her reputation or whatnot. Plus "matching scars" could be that they both had very public breakups with Joe Jonas. Just my theory.

Caitlin Goerlich

So, I absolutely loved this album. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. My #1 song on it is The Life of a Showgirl because it originally gave me BSB vibes, but as it turns out, its really the Jonas Brothers (if you're on TikTok, you know what im talking about lol). I love the vibe it gives and I still can see BSB doing something like this, especially since Max Martin is involved. But overall, a great album that does not deserve the hate its getting from people.

Hanneva

I’ve been looking forward to this one!!

Ash Jamil

I ADOREDDD this album. Idc whatttt anyone saysss!! Love your reactions🩷

Ian Hillan

This gets better with every listen. I knew you'd love it and I just find myself getting more hooked on each song every time I go back to them (which has already been a lot). Totally different from TTPD but the same in that respect. Oh, and I have a personal flex. My voice is actually on the closing track (along with the other 67,000 fans there in Vancouver for the last night). Taylor said that's what they used for the crowd noise at the end of the last song. RIP me, I died dead! 🤣😂🤣😂

Anusha G

I think it's probably a few people but Blake is definitely one of them.

Hailey

i LOVE this album!! and always love and appreciate your reactions to Taylor! … also, the Jackson 5 song that Wood reminds me of is I Want You Back!

BratNDaHwz

In Opalite, the phone line you were confused about means that he was trying for a real relationship but she was too busy with her phone ie. Instagram influencer just wanting him for cred.

Ida Lisby

I LOVE this album!❤️ I can’t pick a favorite it’s soooo good🥰

JillianK

Wood - track 9. 2:30. 23cm - 9in 👀 🍆

Lisa

I’m so glad you got these songs immediately - it took me a few listens but now I’m hooked! Big d*ck trav got me howling 😂

Ab

I've been waiting for YOUR reaction. Love how you appreciate her writing. Thank you

JillianK

she’s certifiable

Michael Beveraggi

I just saw the clip for this online and def get what she meant now with this context 😮

Julie B

Some of my favorite lines: "storm in a teacup" instead of "tempest in a teapot." "My infamy loves company" instead of "misery loves company." "Sequins are forever" instead of "diamonds are forever." And "eating out of the trash," which I think must be an Austin Swift original. I saw the film at a theater in Nashville today, and there was applause for "Gallatin Road." I've got to admit that it always warms my heart when she goes back to her Nashville roots. I think "Ruin the Friendship" is my favorite; it's made me cry every time so far. "Opalite" and "The Fate of Ophelia" are truly wonderful pop songs that are going to stand the test of time. "Wood" is also, ahem, a banger.

Keira Barraza

me dying at “i never expected taylor swift to talk about dicks”. OH so wait for wood

Kimberly Thom

Love this review! And as always big Swifie here! You always make these reviews so much fun.

ClareBear11388

You mentioned during Wish List that she sounded more “online” and honestly, I think the references to which you mentioned are a combination of Travis, the Eras Tour ending, her having been so repressed and depressed with Joe and the whole writing of TTPD. She said Wish List was the last song she wrote and after it, she knew the album was done. Like you said, there is a lightness and pure joy of life for her again. Good for her. I can’t wait to see what’s next

Abbey H.

As always thank you so much for trusting her and loving her as you do. You're amazing and I'm so happy to be here and to dance along with you.

Abbey H.

AHHH ME TOO!!! <3

Richard

Ruin the friendship might be about Jeff Lang who passed away when she was younger.

SideshowTam

I’m so glad that I finally have the time to listen to this with you bc I love this album and I also love youuuuuu❤️‍🔥

Heather

Opalite is a synthetic opal - October babies getting a feel-good bop. 🧡

kelsie

as always i am SO glad you’re emotionally mature enough to accept taylor’s music in all of its forms and not let internet opinion sway your enjoyment or thoughts. it’s so refreshing and the reason you are the only reactor i ever feel fully confident recommending to people 🫶

Syd

I did not like this album at all, but I loved your reaction and I really hope it’ll grow on me 💔

Bangtan is life

I loved this album so much, even tho Folklore and TTPD are my faves, this one is a close second because I love that our girl is happy 💕🙌🏼 it’s hard to pick favorite songs, but I really love Opalite, Actually Romantic, Wood, CANCELLED!, and Honey 🤗

Angelique

I had to educate my daughter about Elizabeth Taylor… she was a huge Hollywood darling in the 60s and 70’, there are several references about her in the song, she had violet eyes, her perfume was called white diamonds, she was one of the first to champion lgbtq communities in the 80’s when aids/HIV was hitting hard, she funded research and treatment and used her fame to destigmatize. She was good friends with Michael Jackson, Brooke Shields, and I think Greg Louganis too. She had a very tumultuous relationship with Richard Burton - they married and divorced 4 times or so, so even though she was so iconic and she was a powerhouse, she never had it easy, and seemed to deliberately stood up for others.

Angelique

As an eldest daughter, she nailed the lyrics, we charged in to whatever situations our little siblings found them in, dressed up as wolves, they looked up to us as these tough, tephlon, protectors, but We never felt like bad bitches, or savage, we just did everything we could to protect and help them out of pure love, because we hurt when they hurt, so sacrifice with Zero regrets ever🥰

Robyn Epstein

"There's no way the track Wood isn't about Travis's dick" I CACKLED LMAOOOOOO especially knowing that it is

Rachel Limpus

I love the album and loved watching your reaction!

Melanie

Forever grateful you're one of my comfort creators, especially when the reactions to this have been so cut throat. As a ball of emotions, eldest daughter who went through hell in her 20s, who got married this year, this album encapsulated so much for me.

Xene

Appreciate your thoughts as always!! Everyone’s been so harsh. People can have their own opinions but most have been so “factual” about it as if some people are not allowed to enjoy it bc everyone wants us to hate it and we're not allowed to feel differently 😅 taylor has more than 10 albums!! Go and listen to the ones you like if u hate this one pls 😂 also, i feel like people have been super spoiled with super poetic lyricism and complicated mixes and just complex albums in general, so now that she released a simpler and more chill album, people are mad bc it’s not the usual stuff we’ve been getting (which lately has been deep or dark). idk, but cant an artist just create whatever they want (and just be happy)?

Kristen M

ur face at "new heights" lmao😭😭

Takis.Scoundrel

Would love to hear your take on Charli xcx’s album “brat” to hear the opposite side and her mindset while writing “symphony is a knife.” Hopefully an opportunity arises for you because the phenomenon that was “brat summer” was heartfelt and full fun. Amazing remix features from Lorde, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and others. ❤️‍🔥

Katilyn

Your description of Hamlet killed me 🤣

Desiree Mclaughlin

"Hamlet was out here on some fuckboy shit" made me snort laugh. 😂

Desiree Mclaughlin

I'm pretty sure she also had a perfume called Forever...I might be thinking of someone else though :)

Desiree Mclaughlin

The discourse surrounding this album has been really wild. Not every album is going to be for every person. It's okay not to like every piece of content your favorite artists produce. It doesn't mean she's unable to create art when she's in a happy, stable relationship. I was totally caught off guard by the vibe of the album at first, but it didn't take long for it to grow on me. As someone who loves the quality of her lower register, I freaking LOVED the way her middle and upper registers sound on this album. I could feel the energy, the humor, and the happiness coming through her voice. Every time there's a little squeak/break in her voice I just love it. I also think it's really fun from a sonical standpoint. It just makes me want to dance. As far as her lyricism goes, maybe it isn't as lyrically complex as her previous albums. But there are still some beautiful turns of phrase throughout the album (🎶Every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter🎶 felt like it was written directed at me. Ouch). And let's not pretend that every line in recent albums has be untouchable perfection. Case in point: 🎶Karma is a cat, purring in my lap 'cause it loves me/Flexing like a goddamn acrobat/me and Karma vibe like that🎶 It's not exactly T.S. Eliot. Doesn't make it bad, but I've literally seen people saying the lyrics in TLOAS sound like they were AI-generated, which is ridiculous. It's even more annoying when I think about how many people came down on TTPD for being "too wordy". Damned if you do, damned if you don't, I guess. Faves: Opalite, The Life of a Showgirl, Honey, Eldest Daughter (that bridge is perfection), and Cancelled.

Katilyn

Same! Lmao. He said it so nonchalantly and then just moved on to the next thing and I was still laughing 😂

DonnaDaffy

After listening to Taylor's interviews and explanations for The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor would LOVE your overall take. You mentioned fun a lot and living her dreams. I believe Taylor would say, "You get it, Michael! You really get it!" Thanks for all your insight and the joy and humanity you always add. 👏🧡👏🧡👏🧡👏🧡👏🧡👏🧡💯

Meldie

Love the reaction and love the album!!!!
