The thing that frustrates me is that Jeremiah always knew how Conrad felt about Belly. He is always using language like being chosen by Belly like it’s a competition. In my opinion, Jere wasn’t a good brother to Conrad

I love this show and I love Conrad Fisher, gosh Christopher Briney is such a great actor. There’s a conversation she had with Conrad in s2 were she said her mom would never care if her dad cheated because she didn’t love him. I feel the same applies to belly. It doesn’t hurt as much as anything Conrad could do. Because she actually loves him.

YES!! The Conrad hate is baffling to me because all of this is SO clear. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. I was SO mad at Belly’s response after he poured his heart out because it’s like yeah, bad timing but girl you literally just admitted you always wanted him like what are we doing baby?!!? Belly didn’t deserve Conrad honestly. Hot take

As much as belly’s dialogue hurts her saying Conrad hurt her more is because of how much she really does love him and he broke her heart and what Jere did doesn’t hurt as bad because her love for him doesn’t compare. Also if you notice she always says Jere is my best friend and I’m gonna marry him not once do you hear her say love of my life it’s something I just always picked up.

Chris Briney is so perfect at playing Conrad - like you said, he shows so much of how he's feeling just in his eyes and facial expressions alone, even if it may be completely opposite to what he's saying. He's brilliant. In Conrad POV episode, yes, Belly and Conrad chemistry is so much more natural and better than Belly and Jere's. Belly is so much more grown up around Conrad. Jere brings out the childishness and they are very selfish with each other - so co-dependent it's crazy. Conrad is so down bad like you said. He literally is warring with himself in Belly's company constantly. He wants to be with her and also doesn't at the same time - it's like bittersweet torture - he was locked in for the peach scene, just forgot where he was, and that shook Belly up too. I genuinely think she spills wine at dinner and watches to see if he'll clean it up to see if the peaches was about cleaning her up or whether it was just her and his feelings for her. If she can't see how he feels there, I don't know what's going on. I cannot even imagine doing wedding errands with the person you love and it's not you they're marrying, but your brother. Just another crazy level. Conrad the ultimate yearner. He breaks your heart as everyone comes before him. I love how honest he is in this episode too. Him and Belly just have that natural comfortability with each other after some initial awkwardness. Belly just can't see that they will always have that connection between them, but she's trying to commit to the whole 'evicting Conrad from her heart.' I think she genuinely believes he doesn't care about her anymore - or trying to convince herself of that - when it's clear it's not the case. I think she's scared to see it honestly. A cool fact is that we barely have had Belly's voiceover so far this season and I think that's supposed to tell us a lot. This episode is such a good one. That final scene with Conrad and his mum gets me every time - knowing the actor lost his mum to cancer around the same age hits hard, and I myself lost my mum when I was a bit younger - he brings so much to that scene. And to realize he gave up Belly essentially because he thought making that promise to his mum and seeing Jere wanted Belly, he let her go as that would mean he's 'looking out for Jere.' I just want to hug him and say I'm sure that's really not what your mum meant, and you need to put yourself first sometimes. He breaks my heart. Yeah, only thing on episode 6. Belly is a stronger woman than most. He would've been so hard to resist in that moment, and he's got the wet hair just like Belly said was romantic. And Jere is just grating at this point to me, he needs to grow up a lot and stop seeking his Dad's approval as that's coming before the wedding, which shouldn't be the case. And Jere should have been the one to talk to Laurel, not Conrad. If he cared that much he would've tried to talk to her more than the once and maybe postponed the wedding until Laurel agreed to go for Belly. We all know that's what Conrad would've done in Jere's position, but of course he also would've asked Laurel's permission to marry Belly first, I have no doubt. Ep 7: That love confession is just so well acted by the two of them. The first time we see Conrad truly selfish and saying exactly how he feels. Yes, it's bad timing, but I give him all the credit for finally saying his peace. Yes, Belly is lying to him and herself, but I do think her reaction is valid to a point, no matter how much I love Conrad. She basically wants to hurt him enough to let her go, as she feels it's the best for him and she thinks she's gone to far into it with Jere now to turn back. It just all sucks. I can't hate Belly for this conversation. We know she's lying and to be honest Conrad knows his truth and how he treated Belly. Essentially Conrad being distant in their relationship and depressed about his mum being ill and dying hurts Belly worse than Jere cheating - that's pretty much the core of it. She never thought Conrad loved her like she loves him. It's a palaver, but I see both sides for sure. And I'm completely with you that although the timing was bad, Conrad for sure only admitted how he felt because he found out Jere cheated - I will die on that hill. It would be so against his character to just say it, as he genuinely wants Belly to be happy, even if it is with Jere. He wants her to be treated right, and ofc in his eyes getting cheated on isn't it, so it was really his only time as of now to say what he wanted to say. At the end of the day, if Belly didn't feel anything for him it wouldn't matter, but for the sake of Conrad and his therapy, saying how he feels would help in the long run. And fun fact to lighten the mood, that is the first time you see Conrad bad mouth Jere to anyone. He's supported his decisions to everyone until he says Jere can't handle his drink to Belly - anything he's disagreed with beforehand he takes straight to Jere, whereas Jere badmouths Conrad all the time. Loving the reactions. Look forward to the last 4. :)

Love love LOVED this reaction and your understanding of Conrad - 100% he never would’ve confessed if he didn’t find out about Jere cheating, he’s not seen his family in years because he thought Jere would be better for Belly and didn’t want to interfere then to hear that! Completely agree that belly’s breakdown was because if Conrad had been honest 4 years ago they could’ve been together this whole time 💔 but absolutely no reason for her to have got with Jere instead and been with him this whole time! - strap in for more jere’s woe is me 🙄.. can’t wait for the last 4 eps!!x

Yeah, Belly has been in deep denial for a long time. She chose Jere because he was more stable, reliable (at the time) and couldn’t hurt her the way that Conrad did, by shutting her out and pulling away from her. She loved him 10x more so it hurt 10x worse, she’s buried it all out of survival to the point she’s rewrote memories in her own brain. If she accepts that Conrad loved her like she loved him (as she does in episode 7), then she has to face that she could’ve had the love of her life this whole time and she gave him up for his brother because she was too insecure and grieving to see Conrad’s love clearly. That’s what breaks her.

Yeah you’re right about what Belly said on the beach. She doesn’t mean what she said/angry outburst. Here’s that part of the book, for context: “You and I,” I said, and then I stopped. I had to get this right. I had to make it so that he let me go forever. “You and I were never anything.” His face went slack. I saw the light die out in his eyes. I couldn’t look at him anymore. I started walking again, and this time he didn’t follow me. I didn’t look back. Couldn’t look back. If I saw his face again, I might not be able to leave. As I walked, I told myself, Hold it, hold it, just a little longer. Only when I was sure he couldn’t see me, only when the house was in sight again, that was when I let myself cry. I dropped down in the sand and cried for Conrad and then for me. I cried for what was never going to be. It’s a known fact that in life, you can’t have everything. In my heart I knew I loved them both, as much as it is possible to love two people at the same time. Conrad and I were linked, we would always be linked. That wasn’t something I could do away with. I knew that now - that love wasn’t something you could erase, no matter how hard you tried.”

All right, I finished the whole upload (took two nights). First, absolutely love your reaction. I knew you'd enjoy this show and have opinions similar to mine. Next, there is sooooooo much I can say, but I don’t feel like writing a full-blown novel in your comments 😂, plus it's 2:30 in the morning. But I do want to say something when it comes to when Belly says Conrad has hurt her more than Jere. We know he hasn't, but to her it feels like he has bc her feelings for Conrad are so much deeper than Jere, so no matter how little or much Conrad hurts her, it's going to hurt much more than whatever Jere does. It goes back to the conversation she has with Conrad in a flashback in season 2 when she tells him that she doesn't believe her mom would care if her Dad cheated because her feelings for him aren't as strong as they once were. Also, the second part is her trying to help Conrad move on from her, which is why she's so mean. For the rest of my thoughts, if you're ever up to it, you could check out my own reactions I did to the show (did it for my best friend, who is obsessed with this show). But anyway—can't wait to see your reaction to the last four episodes!!! 😃

Im so sorry for commenting again - this show controls me! The surfing accident - belly did not restrain herself, she leaned in for a kiss but Conrad was just pushing himself up. And jere is fully aware that Conrad still loves belly - he just doesn’t care as long as he’s ‘winning’ and keeps saying weird things to not so subtlety tell Conrad to stay away

I wrote a big massive comment about how I hated Jere’s speech to Laurel and how there were so many weird things and red flags in it but it disappeared so…. To summarise: it’s all about codependency, the focus on what Susannah would’ve wanted because their grief is the foundation of their relationship, classic Jeremiah guilt trip, he’s got no concrete plans to give Laurel about future, they have no financial independence, there’s no compromise offered, the phrasing of Belly “picked me” over Conrad shows his priorities and I leave that scene with no idea why they actually want to get married in such a rush lol. What do you even like about each other? Also, wish they would stop mentioning age as a point against the wedding when it’s really about financial stability and immaturity than just age.

I love how the music on the show often comes from inside the main POV’s head and that you can see it change across the few episodes. Lots of Taylor/girlie pop for Belly, Jeremiah’s episode in S2 was very top 40, and Conrad’s was such a dreamy collection of mostly older tunes 🤌🏻 It really highlights their characters for me.

tbf to belly when she says "I put up with way worse from you" i took it to mean that him shutting her out hurt more anf felt worse to her than jeremiah literally cheating on her - which just proves that belly always loved conrad deeper and in a more vulrnable way than she ever was with jeremiah
