This was so fun and a great place to start off with, it felt like!

Kai Lambert

I always prefer to watch them live and for reactors to react live

Giu

omg I'm so happy!

Makenna

Can’t wait for the little mix music videos!! 🥰

Giu

okay I'll be making comments while I watch it so I don't forget anything! Permission to Dance is their 3rd Full english song and their english songs (Dynamite, Butter and now PDT) all have this goal of being feel good/fun songs. They've said before they want to do this to cheer up the fans in such rough times. Personally, I really dislike PDT's sound and would say it's one of my least favorite sounds from them ever sonically, but I get what they were trying to do here so yeah The one you pointed out in the video is V (Kim Taehyung)! He is one of the 4 vocalists of the group and is known for having a deeper/soulful voice

Giu

Jungkook is the one who opened Permission to Dance! He is the main vocal of the group and his vocal talent is endless. If you love the more R&B vibe you'd love his solo My Time, it's on Map Of The Soul: 7 album!

Kalah Dolman

When do you think we might see a Mamamoo album review? I'd suggest starting with their Four Seasons project consisting of four mini albums starting with Yellow Flower, or else their full-length album Reality In Black.

Giu

I love waching you discover BTS lyricism T.T RM (Kim Namjoon) is the main rapper and their main writer and this man is just poetry itself. Life Goes On and the whole BE album is about the pandemic and their feelings on it, the MV for LGO makes it very clear and this is a very personal album for them because of it. And for RM, his most recent mixtape is called Mono and it's a masterpiece for both lyrics and producing and I feel like you'd really love it too

Giu

The mixture of English and Korean is called Konglish! (I'll be spamming your notifs with all the comments I'm sorry)

Daffy

Omg yay does this mean will get high school musical 3 reaction as well🙃

Giu

The 'Grey rhino' reference in Blue and Grey is also related to this: "“Gray rhino” is an economics/finance term used to describe a highly probable high-impact threat that is often neglected. Like a gray rhino, the threat (“gloomy and anxious internal emotions” in this song) comes to one in a visible, obvious way." Took this one from Doolset lyrics, who does translations with explanations for their metaphors and word play in multiple languages. Blue and Grey was written by V for his mixtape, but ended up being a group song for the album. Same thing for Stay, which was supposed to be on Jungkook's mixtape. Telepathy was written by SUGA, dis-ease by j-hope and Life Goes On by RM! Also, one thing I love about this album is that besides the songs, they did everything from A&R, planning, visuals, conceps, etc

Giu

They have a lot of skits like that on their albums lol. For the context, they got their first #1 on Billboard with Dynamite, which was released about 3 months before the album (since then they've gotten another 3 with Life Goes On, Savage Love Remix and Butter!). They joke around by calling themselves Billboard #1 singers, it's just a thing they do lol

Giu

Telepathy is about their friendship! They've been a group for 8 years and some of them been living together for almost 11 years now, so it's about how they've reached the point of almost reading each others minds with how well they understand each other! About Bibily Hills, it's a word play on Beverly Hills and the korean 비빌 언덕, which is literally 'a hill others can lay on', so a hill people can rely/lean on

Giu

Since we're on wordplays here: dis-ease korean name is the word 병 (byeong), which can mean both medicine and bottle, so it's something that hurts and heals at the same time. And I LOVE the way they translated this to the english title

Giu

BTS and a lot of K-Pop groups do sub-units all the time trying new pairs and formations within the group. They also do solo songs very often! I love that it's a way of letting them show different styles and their personal colors. And unlike in the western culture, them having solo work doesn't mean anything for the group itself, it just lets them explore music and what they like

Angie

OMG WHAT YES I WASNT EXPECTING THIS

Giu

Okay so to wrap things up: music videos for this one are Life Goes On and Dynamite. Maybe watch Butter as well since it's their last single before Permission To Dance and then you're done with the 'pandemic releases', so to speak. Before that we have Map OF The Soul: 7, which is from early 2020 and it's a big album with 19 songs. MOTS was supposed to be a trilogy of albums (Persona/Ego/Shadow), exploring the Karl Jung concepts of how one's soul can be divided. They released Map of The Soul: Persona in 2019, but had some problems with their schedule so they had to release the rest all at once and thats how MOTS: 7 came to be. The album has three very distinct sounds and vibes because of it, but it showcases their many different colors. It has 8 group songs, 7 solos and 4 sub-units songs, so a lot of options to deep dive into them

Ophelia

Multiple members participated on all of these songs though. The rappers (besides for Dynamite, PTD, and some Japanese songs) always write their own lyrics. So they wrote their own verses of Blue and Grey, Stay, Dis-ease, etc. The singers also participated in some other songs too, like Jimin with Dis-ease.

Katie Taylor

I really recommend the dynamite music video & their butter music video that came out a month ago! 🤍

Joudie

i loved this reaction :)

Joudie

also are we getting the 5sos documentary soon?

Storm

I’m so excited to see your reactions to the last 2 hsmtmts episodes! 😊👏🏼

triciaa

Personally would love to see you react to the HYYH aka "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" Series asap but I think it would be most interesting for you to start at the beginning of BTS' discography and listen to their growth as artists and see how versatile they are! If you want to learn more about BTS in general then a series you should check out is called "The Rise of Bangtan" which is a brilliantly fan made docu-series on Youtube! Highly recommend it as it also touches on the world of KPOP as well.

Jas Min

This album is super personal to BTS. Like most of us, they felt hopeless and lost during the pandemic. They had a tour scheduled for the beginning of 2020 but it got postponed. In interviews about BE, they talk about how much this album means to them. A lot of the songs discuss the hope of reuniting with ARMY (their fanbase). You should totally check out Map of the Soul 7 next since they all have individual songs on that album! (:

Jas Min

OMG YOU SHOULD ALSO CHECK OUT THEIR COVER OF FIX YOU BY COLDPLAY!!

Bee

I just woke up and this notification immediately snapped me out of my grogginess. Thank you for this 💜

Gaica

You are not off and they are talking about the fans when they say nothings changed with us. It is about the pandemic. This entire album is based on their feelings and thoughts during the pandemic and wanting ti comfort and help others. They write and produce 95% of their discography (of course along with their in-house production team and other artists that they choose to collaborate with) and whatever they dont write you better believe they curate and they are super involved in every aspect of their artistry. And yes they do incorparate english in their songs and its called (konglish). and they also sing in japanese. If you want to learn more about the group and their individual talents please watch these 2 videos one is called: This is BTS by xceleste (2020) and this is a summary of who they are and what they stand for and the other one is: an introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update) by Ida S and that is more detailed and goes into individual talents and skill set of the members a some background stories. They are are fluent in Korean and Japanese and their leader RM is fluent in english while the other members are still learning. Also as you can tell their lyrics are super important but the thing is a lot of those lyric videos out there are just really bad translations so Im gonna give you a tip for next time. Please stay away from channels like Jaeguchi and lemoring the translations are horrible. The best lyric videos are on the channels: Dial6137, aftaehyung and Zaty farhani and between those 3 channels you should be able to find most if not their entire discography including their solo releases and projects. I hope to see more BTS reactions from you and hope this comment was helpful

Gaica

The bibilly hills is a play on words and indeed a reference to beverly hills. It’s a metaphor for something (or, more commonly, someone) that you can rely on to be there, that lets you go out and get anything done. Generally, people say that to achieve anything, you need to first make sure you have a 비빌언덕/bibil ondeok, a place or someone that you can go to when you’re uncomfortable, need stability, or need someone to lean on. Lol RM is known for this type of cross language wordplay. BTW the song telepathy is dedicated to the fans, as well as the song Stay. They talk a lot to their fans/ARMY in their music and it truly is wholesome and comforting. Telepathy was produced by SUGA btw. Blue and grey was written and co-produced by V, Disease was produced and written by J-hope, Jimin (he composed the bridge of the song), RM and Suga, Stay was written and produced by RM, Jungkook/JK and Jin, and life goes on was produced and written by RM, Suga and J-hope, and fly to my room was written by RM, SUGA and J-hope.

Gaica

Also you need to check them out live! be warned they dont do lipsynching

Gaica

If you want context for their songs in their lyric translations I recommend you check out the website doolset bangtang they provide accurate translations. wordplay explanation and context for each track

Kristina

Thank you!!! I had never did into BTS for all the same reasons you mentioned. This was really good. Loved the music video. I'm a very visual person so that starting it off was the best way to do it for me! I will have to listen with the lyrics or subtitles on. It was hard for me to understand and keep up. But there is hope lol. 😎🎶🎸🎶😎

Gaica

They do a lot of subunit and solo songs on their albums its quite awesome a refreshing

Stefanie

Thank you for checking out BTS!! You are in for a ride :D And other comments mentioned pretty much everything. It would be best if you listen to their discography from old to new since they changed and evolved as artists over time and it is pretty intersting to see that change. BTS is really special simply because they are real. They love what they do. They write and produce almost all their own songs and are highly involved in everything. They love their fans. And also their lyrics are so relatable and meaningful and they are one of the most versatile artists you'll find. I can't wait for you to check out more of them :)

Elisandra Sousa

I am so happy! I've been wanting and wainting this for so long. The best way to start their discography is from the beginning so you can see how much they've grown and evolved.... The high note in dynamite is actually JK and not Jimin, there are a mv and pratice dances videos, for the coreographies parts I highly recommend it.

Claire

I was so excited to see you react to BTS! I highly recommend watching their NPR Tiny Desk Concert which really helps you hear their live vocals stripped down. There is a music video for both Life Goes On and Dynamite!

amanda

the high note at the end of dynamite was actually jungkook!! jimin does a lot of the high notes but the other vocalists do a fair share of their own too!

amanda

i really recommend u watch their tiny desk concert!! it showcases their vocals really well and would give u a great introduction to how bts are as performers

Virginia

OMG YESSS!! I love their cover of it — I love the original song and their cover is perfect!!

Virginia

Definitely recommend doolset (I think that’s the one) that does lyrics and will even give background to some since the translations don’t always capture what it means. Also their tiny desk is absolutely amazing, definitely recommend. As far as their music videos, you can put the whole video up on YouTube and as long as it includes the hybe/bighit intro then it won’t get copyrighted— they like when people do reactions and see it as good marketing so they don’t usually take it down or anything. Very excited that you are gonna get into BTS, their music is awesome and the lyrics are another level. Also they release a decent amount of music for free on SoundCloud so I definitely recommend checking those out as well when/if you go through their discography.

Entirely Teresa

LOVE this Both Life Goes on and Dynamite have MVs Also Telephay and Blue and Gray have live performances for MTV Unplugged

queen of moons

welcome to BTS! glad you enjoyed their music! I cannot wait for you to hear more of their music.

Lexi B.

Ahhh welcome to BTS 💜 I just joined your Patreon for this reaction, and I’m so excited for you to listen to the rest of their work! So when you dive backwards into Map of the Soul 7, there are a few music videos from that album: Intro Persona, Boy With Luv, Interlude: Shadow, Black Swan, ON (the kinetic manifesto film), and Outro: Ego Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I really enjoyed your video ☺️

Kübra Ürkmez

just joined your patreon for this reaction and i really loved your commentary!! i think you'd really enjoy their npr tiny desk performance, if you wanna check out some of their live work!

Viktoria Bernds

I joined Patreon for this too! Welcome to BTS! :)

nasya cgs

It would be best if you listen to their discography from old to new but maybe u should check out their mvs and live performances

Viktoria Bernds

Okay, I wanna answer some questions. <3 Cause I loved your reaction :) The Album BE: It was more or less made and produced with BTS behind all of it. Cause of Covid they had to cancel all of their tours. They made a lot to make up for it. Free Live streaming of old concerts. Two live concerts that were streamed AND the album BE. They wanted to show their fans a bit of themself, showed how they worked, wrote songs and designed the concept and design. Live goes on: As the Album in itself is made cause of covid. I truly believe it’s about BTS and their relationship with their Fans :) They do talk about it too! A Skit is kind of a BTS tradition :) They talked about themselves :) And the song was dynamite :) And yes their really close with each other and are seeing each other as a family :) They as well went through a lot of shit, and love their fans over the moon. Watching the MV’s to the songs would be cool too! :)

DanielleM

I just found your channel, but I already joined your Patreon because I want to see your full reaction and hear all your thoughts on BTS! Thank you for these reactions, I hope you check out more of them! 💜 Also, for the best lyrics translations, I recommend Doolsetbangtan! You could use it with a lyric video so you know who’s singing. https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/

DanielleM

Also, BTS’s music label has an official website called Weverse Shop where you can find almost all their merch. I also can’t wait for you to see BTS live and to get to know them as people!!💜 You don’t know how sad I am that I can’t just binge watching you reacting to BTS, lol!

DanielleM

Yes doolsetbangtan is definitely the best lyric translations I’ve seen!

Michelle Winchester

BTS started as a hiphop group, so they occasionally do Intros, Skits and Outros in their albums which is something I understand is normal in hiphop albums and mixtapes. They also do cyphers. If you're interested in getting a bit of an intro on the members, I recommend "An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update)" by Ida S. It gives you a very brief overview of the members specifically. I would also definitely like to see your reaction to some of their live performances like Tiny Desk Concert or BTS Room Live. Also (and I'm very aware you're a music reactor and this is another TON of content that might not necessarily be your style), but you mentioned that you feel like they're friends and they like each other. They're more like family after such a long time of not only knowing each other, but also living in a dorm together pretty much the whole time. And if you wanted to see more of how they are around each other, they have a variety show called Run BTS, which is basically them playing games and doing challenges and all sorts of other things. Some reactors do it on their Patreon as an extra thing. But like I said, I feel like just their discography alone is already a lot (plus they have solo songs and mixtapes) and you do a lot of other artists, so I don't know if there's even a chance you'd have time for that 😂. If you ever have a free slot, we could potentially just recommend a good episode to watch 😊.

-Mac-

I would LOVE to see you react to Map of the Soul Era. Persona, the 14 New tracks (It was a blended album) from 7, and then the two Japanese original songs from Journey. Plus the Intro and outro.

-Mac-

THIS, do this! You are in for a TREAT!

-Mac-

Hi there! Yes, Jung-kook(JK) does indeed open both Permission to Dance, and Life Goes on. BTS usually inserts English into the chorus &/or hook of their Korean and Japanese songs. Their "All English" songs, to date: Dynamite, Butter & Permission to Dance. BE and the 3 Englsih songs listed above are all "Pandemic songs" I appreciate how you noticed the 'ad libs' that float above and below the vocals and harmonies. Fly to my Room is a 'sub-unit' song, so only SUGA, J-hope, Jimin, and V(Tae-hyung) are singing on this track. How the members of the rap-line sound, when they are doing that blend between singing and rapping, is much much different than their typical flow. I recommend Cypher 1-4, Mic Drop, Ddaeng, Uhg! and their mixtapes RM, Mono, AgustD, D2, and Hope World, for a better take on individual styles. Merch is a bottomless pit, be warned! Skit is them reacting to getting #1 with Dynamite and yes, your take on this moment is correct. There is a video that encompasses some of their reactions on V-Live. BTS debuted as a Hip-hop group, They have meandered their way through so many sounds and genres in their 8 years. I feel this is the time to reiterate what others have suggested, go back to their beginnings and follow their growth and the shifts in sound. it's fairly awesome. Fun fact, SUGA thought Telepathy was a bit too long. BTS' lyricism is on point and frequently has so much to dig into and think about. Dis-ease is play on words. everyone is suffering some form of dis (read UN) ease during C19 yeah, you got it. Stay, yes, second sub-unit on the album, they tend to mix up composers, writers and singers to keep their sound fresh and interesting. JK composed the song and initially meant for it to have all English lyrics on his mixtape. The members liked it a great deal and so, it was reworked BE. (This also happened with Blue and Grey which was written by V) That high note you commented on in Dynamite is actually none other than Jungkook! For good translations with relevant cultural references and explanations regarding wordplay and lyricism: https://doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/bts-albums/ 2 Cool 4 Skool is the first No More Dream (BTS' debut song/MV with hang/rom/ENGLISH subs): https://youtu.be/btIzXwxDWOY It's worth looking for the English subs version of Offical Music Videos for anything in the first ~3 years. My favourite solo song by Jin: Awake https://youtu.be/29R6OhyiDWQ Welcome to the club, good luck!

Cat L

I absolutely love your reaction to the PTD music video and BE album! I strongly recommend you watch a video called BTS Live Room Festa 2021. It's a recent video in which they sing a medley of 9 songs from 2013 to now. It will give you a nice insight into their music and personality. Yes, the pandemic was the theme of this album. It was basically a musical diary of the different moods and feelings they went through during that time. Also, BTS rarely do typical love songs. Most of the time they are talking to us fans (ARMY) or they're talking about friendships or relationships in general. This is a case where you should always assume fan or friend first. So in the album BE, most of the times, they were talking to ARMY about how they miss us, miss performing, miss seeing us in person. They talk about checking up on us (on social media and through their live streams). This might help you interpret certain parts differently.

SB

Thank you SO SO much for checking them out!! I really suggest you check out their album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7" which also contains a solo song from EACH member so you'll really get to hear their individual colours!! It would be a great second introduction to the group! HIGHLY SUGGEST IT!!

Game fan

I didn't really see anyone mentioning this but their dancemoves in PTD are a lot easier to dance so that a lot of people can join in compared to their other dances and the moves to the nanana part means "Fun", "Dance" and "Peace" in signlangue

Cynthia Explores

I also joined this Patreon for the full reaction. It looks like you do a wide variety of content here with not a lot of repeats. I hope you do more BTS content, but understand if that is not the mission of your Patreon.

Sandra Svensson

Wow! Love it! Would absolutely love to continue down this path with you and get to know them better. The sound is amazing! 😍 Would love to see what you see though. Are you watching lyric videos or something? Would be fun to see those, so I could understand too. Just an idea. 😊

BrB R

I would really love to see you react to more of BTS but I understand if you don't do repeats I absolutely love the content here tho!

JJ

BTS has a lot to offer in many styles of music, and all around discography is amazing. Be interested to see you delve into universe of BTS with the storylines throughout their music and have you watch some explanation videos in their music videos too. It is a wild ride and very unexpected from what you would think would be just a typical boy band.

Tracy Dowd

That was Jungkook that hit the high note in Dynamite. I was wondering if you could react to their Tiny Desk Performance - BTS: NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert (w/Eng Subs) - https://youtu.be/gFYAXsa7pe8

clacla

you should check the other videos he already reacted to it

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

Just watch Suga and it's easy to tell, lol. Or when they randomly crack each other up on stage. The best!

Katalina Muñoz

Hi, me again ;; is there another way to see this video? bcuz it doesn't work ;A;

Michael Beveraggi

Hi Katalina! The videos are down on mobile browser for another day, but they are working on the app!

chimelle6

I have watched all of your BTS (and some others, will eventually get to them all!) album reaction on YouTube, but I just joined Patreon, and I just wanted to say I'm so sorry for how many requests I've already thrown at you and on behalf of army I'm sorry how much we bombard. It is so hard to not get so excited with someone that appreciates so much. Thank you so much for all of your reactions and if we get overwhelming, again I'm so sorry!

chimelle6

Rewatching this I am soo curious about you to get to the album Dark and Wild, and the older music. I've loved all of your reactions, but I'm wondering if you will love the debut music the most?? Very curious. There is a song called Just One Day (on a different album than Dark and Wild, but still around that time period) that isn't lyrically the best or really or even vocally, but I'm really curious if that one is going to be a favorite. When you get there I think you should watch their Armypedia performance. It gives Tiny Desk Performance vibes. They did it just a few years ago, but they did a few of their older songs, anyways its a very specific vibe that I think you might enjoy.

chimelle6

There is a saying in the fandom that BTS finds you when you need them most. Don't feel too regretful for not getting into them recently! My friend is a pre-debut army (got into them before they officially were established, they posted many songs and such before debut) and I don't listen to her for 5 years, but finally 3 1/2 years ago I finally gave in and I kick myself all the time for not listening to her sooner, but I truly don't think I was ready for them before that. Jungkook crying while watching Dolly Parton perform at the 2019 Grammys was my real, real turning point and haven't been able to turn back since.

Yukari

Like earlier comments, I’m a new Patreon to hear your complete reaction to BTS albums. I’m a new fan also. I’ve often heard that you don’t find BTS, BTS finds you when you need it the most and it’s so true. My youngest daughter has been a fan since LY: Tear and though I’ve heard their songs through he, I didn’t become a fan until this January. Their songs have really helped me deal with a personal issue. I will not bore you with details but I’m excited to go on this journey with you. I have now watched several reactors and I love yours the most. I am also drawn to JK and Suga so it makes me smile when you get excited about them. All the boys are so very talented! I love Life Goes On and the MV was directed by Jungkook. I hope you can watch it. I have already watched the YouTube reactions twice already and I’m so excited to watch your full reactions! Thank you so much!

Gray

This was really cool to re-listen to a year and a half later…so glad you checked their music out and that I found your channel.

BtsOT79798

you should react to map of the soul 7 next...
