Ivan Lee

It isn't quite Shakespeare, but it's close.

K'Banj

I dont care for Bianca, she was okay with letting her sister be used and lied to and treated like crap just so her selfish sophmore self can hang out with a senior guy. I love this movie, and fell in love with the 2 main characters because of this movie (Heath will always be missed). Taming of the Shrew was always one of my favorite Shakespeare works, after Othello & A Midsummer Nights Dream. I feel like another movie you might enjoy is Get Over It!

Kristina

Loving it!!! Getting the snacks and drink. Time to watch a movie with Michael... ❣️😎❣️

Ruth

I can’t believe you haven’t seen this classic before! This movie lives in my soul and I can quote it verbatim and I do frequently 💜💜💜 so excited to see what you think of it

heather

yess such a classic! crazy, stupid love is also a perfect romcom!!

Vicki

PLS DO THE PROPOSAL

heather

omg you need to watch brokeback mountain sometime

Maralys Cedeño

I haven't been able to watch any of your latest videos ☹️ it says that the link doesn't work.

Rachel Addleman

This is probably the movie I have watched the most but it's been a while. I actually watched this in high school English class, I'm surprised they got away with it (I guess 2007 was a different time, lol). If you didn't know this is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, a lot of the characters names are references to the original play.

Rosie ♥︎

Still desperate for you to watch RENT!

Michael Beveraggi

Oh no thought this was fixed! Are you accessing via app or browser?

Michael Beveraggi

Taming of the shrew is one I’m unfamiliar with but that’s fun to know! Also can’t imagine this being played in school now with all the erotic novel & flashing scene lmao.

Audrey

I bought this soundtrack at the time, it's still great.

Janet Michelle- You Caught Me

That split screen towards the end of "500 Days of Summer" is AMAZING. I don't want to say more in case you watch it and others haven't, but it describes so many relationships so well.

labyrinthpeaches

This is such a classic, I always have such a good time watching it, I'm glad you enjoyed it, happy Valentine's! :D <3

Mariana

Aaah yes, the movie where we all crush on Heath Ledger. Michael, it’s such a pleasure to watch movies along with you and hear all your comments! Thank you for sharing this one with us! I also came to tell you about The taming of the shrew but I saw someone commented that already. Have a great rest of the week!

Marcella Raponi

I love this movie! Keith as usual is remarkable as he is in all of his movies. We should really do a Keith Ledger marathon. Every week we do one of his movies. Love him and let’s not forget Julia Stiles guys she is not only a phenomenal actress but also a phenomenal dancer. We should check out the movie Save The Last Dance! Great movie with a wonderful message. So glad you enjoyed the movie Michael and Happy Valentines Day!!!!🥰

Samantha

h I could see you watch movies like The Proposal, Sweet Home Alabama (One of my favorite movies ever), She's the Man, Confessions of a Shopoholic, Life as We Know It, Just Like Heaven, 13 Going on 30 are some of my favorite rom coms. If your ever looking for good ones!

Caitlin Goerlich

Yes, I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie. I haven't watched it from the beginning in SO LONG so I loved being able to watch it, as well question how my sister (who is 10 years older than me) got away with letting me watch this with her, when we were younger, with that beginning LOL and some of the other jokes that were played out in the movie. Then again, she did have other movies that I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have watched at age seven but anyways. So you mentioned the things that you have seen Julia Stiles in. Are you saying you never saw Prince & Me???? That's another great movie with her. OH and if you loved seeing JGL in this movie, you should check out the few episodes he was in on Roseanne (he was very young and adorable lol). Also, I don't know if you noticed but his friend in the movie "Michael" is also Bernard from The Santa Clause & The Santa Clause 2. That always blew my mind. Also, it was always hard at times to watch Andrew Keegan (Joey) as this character because I loved him as Wilson in 7th Heaven. Completely different character. Watching this movie always made me curious at the things we missed out with Heath Ledger being gone. Just imagine some of the movies he could've made even better if he was the actor in it or in any of the future movies he could've been in. He's so good. I'm glad you got to watch him in this. And enjoy a 90s iconic movie :)

Jared

It took me forever to get home to be able to watch this, but it was worth the wait. I absolutely love this movie. I’ve probably seen this like 50 times. It’s one of my favorites out of any genre, not just romantic comedies. I think it’s one of the best adaptations of Shakespeare. It keeps the spirit of the original alive while being it’s own thing. I still remember going to see this in a theater with my older brother and his girlfriend when it came out. I think I was like ten and I probably shouldn’t have been allowed to see it that young, but I was a huge fan of the girl who plays Bianca. She was the lead in a sci-fi Nickelodeon show in the 90s called The Secret World of Alex Mack that I was kind of obsessed with. I’m so glad you did this. It was a great way to end the day.

Kate N

That was so fun watching this with you, I’m glad you liked it! This came out when I was a teenager and it’s just in my bones I’ve watched it so much. I’m not ashamed to say I still have a crush on 10 Things JGL, so freaking cute I can’t stand it! Lastly, as you touched on the soundtrack is just iconic, I don’t think they could have done a better job capturing the feel of the movie with the music. Cruel to be Kind is still on rotation every once in awhile in my house. 🤣

Kate N

Then again who am I kidding? If you like JGL’s brand of charm, he’s even better now…

Jayme Thomas

This is one of my favorites of all time. So glad this is the one you need up watching. If you want l see more of early Heath Ledger, I’d love to see you react to “A Knight’s Tale.” It’s another oldie, but a goodie like this one.

Aldo Villarreal

hey! you should react to camila cabellos version of anyone by justin bieber (originally was hers but passed on it)

Clarissa

I‘m so happy that this Movie won the poll, it’s one of my favorites though I always cry because I love and miss Heath Ledger just so much. Believe me we‘re all charmed by him just like you got! Since Crazy Rich Asians was only a tiny bit behind, I hope maybe in the Future if you‘re considering doing another movie it could be this one but I was so happy with todays video, thank you❤️❤️

Julie B

We read and watched Taming of the Shrew sophomore year in high school. The plot really is the same! The movie version we watched was with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. :) The musical Kiss Me Kate, which has Cole Porter songs, is also based on Taming of the Shrew!

Julie B

I love this movie! It struck me that even though this is a 90's movie made in the Tacoma/Seattle area, they do not lean into the Seattle sound. No Nirvana, no Pearl Jam, no Soundgarden, no Sonic Youth. I didn't even see any posters on Kat's wall from these bands. This movie was made in '99, so maybe it is a bit late for those bands. Someone correct me if I am wrong! The band playing at prom and on the roof is Letters to Cleo. Fans of Parks and Rec will recognize them as Ben's favorite band. I love that the movie leans into its Shakespearean roots. Lines like "I burn, I pine" sound completely natural when the cast is so talented. She doesn't have much screen time, but I love Allison Janney as Ms. Perky! At the beginning of the movie, she calls Heath Leger "Kangaroo Boy" to explain his accent right away. You missed one of the best jokes when you were looking up Heath Leger. JGL says "WE'RE SCREWED!" I recommend a Knight's Tale with Heath Ledger as well. They made unusual music choices for a film set in Mediaeval times, but it works really well!

Kylee Ransom

This was my first time watching this movie as well. was super fun to watch it with you. Since Crazy Rich Asians was the next top pick, its a great movie as well, even if you watch it on your own .I recommend!

Richard

If you want see another young Julia Stiles try the movie Save the last dance. Really good.

Richard

Also another movie you can react to is "The Accountant" with Ben Afleck and Anna Kendrick. Another good one.

Vanessa

I can't believe you haven't seen this, I've seen it so many times. This is a modern adaptation of Shakespeare Taming of the Shrew. SO MUCH NOSTALGIA.

Nicolett

Sooooooo happy you did this❣️❣️❣️

☆kat☆

There was this era from the mid 90s and early aughts when we were getting some good modern takes on Shakespeare and classic lit on film.

Ashley Kinney

Loved this! I would love more romcoms!

KRP

Now you HAVE to watch the Batman trilogy

KRP

or The Dark Knight specifically

Kylie

Michael, this was so great to watch with you (sorry I'm a bit behind on my viewing!!) Love this movie and of course I have to give Aussie shout outs to Heath Ledger (his death was such a tragic loss) and one of the songs on the soundtrack from Aussie band Spiderbait which you were enjoying around the 14 min mark. Would definitely recommend a few of his movies to watch in your own time - "Two Hands", "The Dark Knight", "Brokeback Mountain" , "A Knight's Tale".

Paige

I’m so glad you loved it! I love this movie too. I would totally be down to watch more heath ledger movies with you if you’re into it. Brokeback mountain and A Knights tale are two of my favorites!

Talía Caraveo

OMG I'm so late watching this! Recently joined.. But this is one of my favorite movies of all time, I've seen it countless times,. Loved watching it with you and watching you react to it, of course there are some things like you said can't do or say now, things have change, but even without those, it's such a great movie! For me I think is Love actually, The holiday, 10 things I hate about you, Valentine's day,, The proposal, hitch.. There's just so many!!
