Bangtan is life

I think I only have seen Jenny in Scream and the Netflix show You, but I still adored her ! She did such an amazing job with her representation of Wednesday, and I love Tim Burton !

Emma

The video says that it doesn't exist anymore - really sad cause I was hoping to binge these reactions :(

Bailey Gennings

Video doesn’t exist anymore :( I was hoping to binge your reactions before season 2 comes out Is there a way to fix it or is it lost forever?

Nicolett

Wasn’t expecting you to react to this so soon after it’s release but I’m so glad you are! 💕

Alycia Ortiz

Wednesday AND Squid Game!? My entire week was just made! Can’t wait to watch!!!😃

Lindsay

Ghost Mom

Soren Skogen

I'M SO EXCITED YOU'RE DOING TWO OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS SQUID GAME AND WEDNESDAY OMG. This is the best holiday present ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soren Skogen

Seriously thank you so much, Beveraggi. The holidays are super hard for me and these reactions are such a nice balm.

taylor

Christina Ricci played Wednesday in the 1991 version of The Addams Family so her being in this adaptation is a nod to that version!!!!

Indrė Duobaitė

I just finished the show today!! I really enjoyed it but I do think it was a bit overhyped for me. Anyways I hope you'll enjoy it as I did!

spicyboylake

Oh my god your show choices!!!!

M

Wednesday at Squid game posted at the same time!! Can't wait to watch both of your reactions!!

Dani May

I cannot express my excitement for this one. Jenna Ortega and her take on Wednesday have such a special place in my heart!!

April Wier

I finished this last week! I’m stoked to go back through it with you!!!!

Danielle

THANK YOU so much for reacting to this show! I've already watched it twice and I'm super excited to watch it again with you.

Soren Skogen

With regard to Tim Burton, he has said and done various shitty racist things throughout his career, so I urge Beveraggi and all viewers take some time to learn about that if you haven't already. I've seen too many people celebrating him and his work without mentioning his history of racist statements and actions. Here are some sources that discuss this more: https://www.themarysue.com/tim-burtons-racist-comments-loom-over-otherwise-great-casting-for-netflixs-wednesday/ https://web.archive.org/web/20221128001011/https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2016/09/29/tim-burton/ Also something specifically about Wednesday: "Tim Burton not racist, huh? In Wednesday, the boats in the Poe Cup are named after Edgar Allen Poe stories. The black character Bianca is on the Gold Bug team. The Gold Bug is the only Poe story that features a black character—a particularly dumb slave named Juniper." https://twitter.com/TheHoneyMa/status/1597285029163413504 https://twitter.com/thehoneyma/status/1596903143308083201

I'm so happy you're watching this. The Addams Family is one of my favorite things. I've seen the 90s movies more times than I can count, so I was hesitant about this adaptation, but I ended up really enjoying it. Jenna is perfectly cast as Wednesday, and I love the casting for the other family members as well. The fact that they brought Christina Ricci back for this was so amazing. For so many people, she is Wednesday Addams. She did the role so well I didn't think anyone would ever be able to live up to it, but I'm glad to be proven wrong. Also Casper was amazing. I loved that movie as a kid. That's another one I watched so many times. And my first crush was also because of that movie. Although mine was on the boy who played the living version of Casper, who actually did a few movies with Christina back in the 90s.

I was literally thinking I need to message you and tell you that you need to react to Wednesday when a notification popped up that you posted this video. Kind of freaky. So glad you are reacting to this show! I loved it. Jenna Ortega is an amazing actress and conveys so much with very little dialogue or movement. I don't think they could have casted anyone better. She has some other great pieces of work. The Fallout was her breakout role and wrecked me. High trigger warning if you decide to watch that one. Can't wait for you to finish the series and hear your thoughts. Off to watch the Squid Games reaction. Even though that wasn't my favorite show, I am still interested in seeing your reaction to it.

I grew up in Massachusettes and moved to Pennsylvania awhile ago with my family. Can confirm that there are a lot of pilgrim/colonizer attractions in MASS lmao. Also at the college I used to go to in PA, there were tons of Amish people in the area. They would literally ride through campus with their horse and buggies and had designated horse parking at grocery stores in town. I remember being pissed every time I would get stuck driving behind a buggy because they’re soooo slow.

kerry berry

Omggg so happy ur getting to this show! Jenna Ortega is such a gem, she’s definitely one to look out for in the future!

Angelique

Christina Ricci played Wednesday in the 90s remember?

Michael Beveraggi

Thank you for these links, & information, Soren. Tbh, I hadn't the slightest idea about any of this surrounding Tim, as more of a distant admirer of a particular handful of films. The comments in response to that Peregrine film are awfully ignorant. The use of the actor & gold bug, reallllyyy bad, to say the least, intent or not (his job to research these things). I appreciate you bringing this to attention here

Michael Beveraggi

I’m glad someone understood Cass!! (But very sorry for your stuck behind buggies moments lmao)

Michael Beveraggi

Unfortunately went wayyyyy over my head until this comment section Angelique 😭

Michael Beveraggi

Sending you an abundance of love Soren, throughout these holidays ♥️

Mariana

Came to comment about Christina Ricci but saw a couple of people already did that so instead I'll just say I really enjoyed this show and I'm so happy to re-watch it along with you. Also Tim Burton directed only the first 4 episodes, however he is executive producer of the show so it keeps the Burton vibe; along with the fact that the score is by his forever composer Danny Elfman. And omg your reaction with the beast thingy made me realize you haven't watched something light for a while. Stranger Things, GOT, Haunting of Hill House, HOTD, and now Wednesday and Squid Game. Soorry for that, I hope you're watching something fluffy on the side for yourself.

Cat

I haven't watched this but heard so many good things about it ! so guess this is the perfect opportunity to start this show, i'm excited Also on the last comment they were saying how you were watching a lot of intense shows so i thought i would recommend for you to react to a show like Avatar : The last airbender it did really good on the last poll so maybe after this two shows u might give it a chance and lighten the mood lol. Have a great day Mike !

cass

the struggle is definitely real LOL. so glad you’re reacting to this show though. jenna ortega is just fantastic in this role

CoreyIsSus

Loved the reaction, and I was the same, trying to "solve" and figure it out all ahead of time too as I was watching, lots of twists and turns throughout hahah! (: -About Tim directing, I think he does the first 4, someone else does 5-6, and a third does 7-8, but it still has the same feel throughout. -For Ajax, in that antique shop scene with the "i'd let you stone me" or whatever, they do mention that the stoning is only TEMPORARY, so he's not out of the picture completely and hence the semi-casual "prevention" with the mirror and not taking it AS seriously as a perma-Medusa type thing. -I already saw your reply with the Christina/Wednesday comments so I won't mention it too, though since I'd never seen the original show or 90s movies, I also didn't know when I first watched until I read about it in my post-binge depression scouring for videos and interviews and articles, but that's a cool nod to the movies with them interacting. -Weems still is a character of her own and the principal, but we'll figure out what that shifting was about later, and we know that she and Morticia have a history, but that's about it as of ep 3 -Jenna crushed it, I'd seen her in You and on social media before, but even in her other stuff like X, Scream, The Fallout, etc..., I hear that she's crushed it with more horror and serious roles, so a rising star for sure...and apparently for an audition call w/ Tim for Wednesday, she was still in blood from X while she was on set, and she's just really committed...so much so that after one take where she didn't blink, Tim liked it and they made it that she doesn't blink the ENTIRE show, except moments where she is in discomfort or shock, so that's a cool thing to look out for if you want. Yeah, this is a fun show, and it's good to view it with that "not taking itself TOO seriously" lens, where it's def not a kid's show, but it's not really super serious either, just a fun little show, it has a few weaker moments, but it's all in good fun overall, and a fun little mystery to get to the bottom of. It's had incredible success, as of this weekend I think over 150m households and over 1 billion hours watched worldwide, broke all sorts of English-speaking Netflix records, even passing Stranger Things 4 for the debut-week stats, so it's really popping off, glad to see you reacting (:

Victoria D

So glad to see you watching and enjoying this show. Jenna really is a standout in this show and in general. She actually mentioned in some interviews that she does all of her own stunts, including the fencing scene so she actually learned how to fence for this role and she also learned to play the cello as well. Also when you get to the iconic dance scene in the series, she choreographed that all on her own as well. Jenna’s been in a lot of great roles, especially the movie The Fallout, which is an incredible, but heavy movie. I think you would really appreciate her work in that film if you want to see more from her after you finish this. Definitely a trigger warning though for some heavy themes for that movie. Can’t wait to see the rest of your reactions to this show!

kerry berry

so agree, the fallout was absolutely heart wrenching and she was 100% robbed of that oscar nom (but are we suprised)

Storm

Don’t know why I was resisting watching this, but I’ll definitely watch with you ☺️

Yenelly Tejada

attempted murder was also casual on harry potter lol

Yenelly Tejada

I love how they touch on how whitewashed history was, and the actual evils of colonization, and not on a subtle way. The OG wednesday also spoke about this issue during her thanksgiving play on the movie

Julie B

Just wondering who else here watched the Addams family TV series from 1964? When I was a kid, it played as reruns. John Astin (Sean Astin's step-dad) played Gomez. I ask because there are a few jokes that reference the original theme song (also used in the 2019 cartoon.) Ok, I'm just now getting to the point where Michael says that Christina Ricci is the love of his life. Sir, you simply must watch Yellowjackets. Christina was nominated for an Emmy for her performance! Most people seeing Christina in Wednesday are thinking about her playing Wednesday in the 90's, but all I can think of when I see her is "Hello, Misty...."

Vanessa

Lmao at you going on about Ajax's name. The way I said let it go Michael and you immediately replied I won't let it go through the screen.

Jade

please please please react to young royals!!!!! a beautiful queer show you must watch!!!!

Jared

He totally does! I never thought about that before. He has a very Titanic/Romeo + Juliet era Leo vibe. I was totally in love with Leo during that time. Guess I have a type lol.
