Auvo's Markings (Patreon)

Quick doodle of Auvo, one of the antagonists in the Tribe of Shawri story. He's one of the rare Runic Leopards that was born with runic markings among his spots.

In the Havalayea Tribe, leopards that are born with runic spots are likely to have an easier or amplified ability to harness the power of gemstones. These leopards are often seen as "blessed", "privileged", or "chosen,", and tend to be pushed into higher ranks or religious roles, usually against their own desire. It's not impossible for other tribes to match the boost that the runic leopards have.

The leopards that are born with runic markings usually only have one or two letters among their spots, but they do not necessarily have direct translations. Priests often analyze "runic" markings and will derive a meaning, often as a guide for the villager to direct their life's purpose. In Auvo's case, he is born with the "First" and "Last" letters of their runic alphabet.
