If you haven't seen it, there is sort of a "companion" movie by the same director, and also from a story by Stephen King: "The Green Mile". That one is also highly recommended.

The Green Mile is a movie that breaks me every time I watch it. It's so good, and so well acted. And yet I recommend it to everyone, because you have to see it to appreciate it.

I've watched this movie an innumerable number of times over the past 3 decades, and it still ends up being a weep-along as much as a watch-along.
