The Mist (2007) movie reaction

“**** this film!” That’s a very common reaction to watching this film. It’s a solid look at human nature under prolonged stress. Struggling to balance the horrors outside against the horrors coming from the people we thought we knew. Then we throw in that brutal, gut punch of an ending. 🤬 When Frank Darabont agreed to direct this, he presented this ending as a change from King’s original, open ended novella. His requirement was that the studio had to agree to his revised ending and couldn’t change it later. The studio agreed but cut the film’s budget in half because they had lost faith in the project. Bold move on Darabont’s part that massively paid off in my opinion. I do love this movie but it’s not everybody’s particular flavor of despair and dread.

By the way, not sure if your shirt was planned but I think we can agree how appropriate it was.

I really liked this one. It was a decent horror movie already, without the ending. I think the ending was just the (traumatic) icing on the cake! 😅 Also, welcome!
