So, I gather there are a LOT of X-Men movies so what I want to know is, should I react to all of them or miss some out? There seems to be a lot of off-shoot stuff as well which is questionable. For context, here's the list I've got:

X-Men (2000)

X-Men 2 (2003)

X-Men The Last Stand (2006)

X-Men Origins Wolverine (2009)

X-Men First Class (2011)

The Wolverine (2013)

X-Men Days Of Future Past (2014)

Deadpool (2016)

X-Men Apocalypse (2016)

Logan (2017)

Deadpool 2 (2018)

X-Men Dark Phoenix (2019)

New Mutants (2020)

Soooo, my question to you is:

I usually skip watching new mutants, and X-Men dark Phoenix.

honestly, a lot of the X-men movies that get a lot of hate are still a lot of fun, as long as you don't take them too seriously, and especially if you're not familiar with the comics. If I had to rate them it'd be: X-Men - must watch X-Men 2 - must watch X-Men The Last Stand - must watch (though probably the weakest of the trilogy) X-Men Origins Wolverine - Could be skipped not a great movie, but does give background lore on Wolverine X-Men First Class - A great soft reboot, must watch The Wolverine - could be skipped still decent, though predictable. X-Men Days Of Future Past - must watch a lot of peoples favorite of the newer ones Deadpool - A definite must honestly one of most faithful depictions of Marvel/X-men comic characters X-Men Apocalypse - could be skipped Logan - A definite must not just a great superhero movie, but also just a great movie on it's own. Deadpool 2 - A must watch, a fun sequel X-Men Dark Phoenix - skip it's not relevant for later really, and the next weakest movie of them all, except for.... New Mutants - skip the weakest one - might as well not be an X-men movie, since the connection to the rest of the universe is so thin.

Without spoiling anything.. I think Wolverine Origins is maybe important for Deadpool movie lore.

Also, it would be a great crime to not honorably mention the tv show Legion (2017). It's not really directly tied to the movies, but it's based on characters from the X-men comics, with some references to the movies, if I recall correctly. It's also just a fantastic show on its own. No need to watch this in relation to the movies, but worth considering some time in the future.

I’m in total agreement with AzraRillian here. Had I proceeded with my comment, it would have just looked like I’d cheated. 🤷‍♂️ In other words, Azra speaks for both of us.

Jonathan Foreman

You know that that I think about it I would reluctantly agree. I've edited my original comment

Hard second to this. I thought Legion was /amazing/, and I'm not generally one to think that sort of thing.

Noah

Yeah, I third this; not /always/ because I like the ones in the 'watch' list (or vice versa), but more because of how they're generally regarded.

Derwin Riley

If the votes do end up being specific ones, i will say this is a pretty great list. Just maybe watch Wolverine Origins for Deadpool movie lore

YoureMrLebowski

I would watch both Deadpool and Logan, but just those.

Just an idea - If you think radically first then lean toward compromising... you might start with this idea, what if you could only watch half of them. Then move on, then come back later at a future time and go back to watch the rest maybe even randomly. Okay that's the radical idea. In that case people would have to vote on the top 6 essential to watch now. Maybe you'd have to separate the 3 Deadpool movies from this triage idea. And then... if not doing that then you'd just have to watch them all because there's not that many to skip. Let me count, I guess there's 11 if removing the Deadpool titles. So the question becomes, are there 5 that can be skipped for now that you can come back to later? (maybe) So the unusual or radical idea is to either watch them all or watch half of them, skipping 5 movies. The ones you skip you may come back to later or maybe never. Is there a consistent bottom half or 5 to skip?

I've seen a couple of these and not a huge fan, so I have no advice. Sorry.

Hopefully Everafter

and then u can end ur journey with deadpool and wolverine :). But yessss pls do the sets u have listened :)

Noah

I get where you’re coming from, but without at least a little background information, I don’t think those films will have as much meaning.

YoureMrLebowski

You're right. I suppose it would take out some of the emotion for Logan if you have zero connection to the character. Whoopsie! 🙂
