The flashing red and blue lights of the police cruisers bounced off the stone walls of Vane Manor, illuminating the wreckage of what Jason had called the "party of the century." It was 3:00 AM when the handcuffs clicked shut. At twenty-one, Jason thought he was merely facing a slap on the wrist. He sat in the back of the squad car, hungover and defiant, believing his late father’s trust fund would shield him from real consequences. He was wrong. The trust was frozen, and the felony possession charges meant prison was a certainty.

Vivienne Vane arrived at the precinct not as a grieving widow, but as an opportunist in a sharp Chanel suit. She didn't scream; she calculated. She cut a deal with the District Attorney in hushed, lethal tones: Jason would be remanded to her sole custody for eighteen months of strict house arrest. No jail time, but total confinement.

She sat across from him in the interrogation room, sliding the contract across the metal table. "I am saving you, Jason," she lied, her voice smooth as silk. "But freedom has a price.
