Skippy Hugo

Costumed was never one of my favourite stories, but you're a great writer no matter what.

Kaffeyette Lektor

I always liked the Costumed stories because they were a bit darker, more complex and the characters expressed both their positive and negative aspects (plus there were lots of great costumes, looks and transformations), although the characters were always relatively happy in the end. They were magically anaesthetised from their psychological trauma. There was also an overarching moral theme, where the noble hero(ine) triumphed in the end. This one is the darkest of them all. Like the TACOS stories, the characters surrender to their dark desires permanently and take the moral low ground for their own hedonistic delights. I didn't pick this very dark turn, where Jack/Anna has been willfully indulging her desires the entire time she was with Jack, and is now Glib's willing mistress. That was a turn I didn't see coming. I loved it. Very unexpected. I still missed the part about 'Roseanna' and where that name was introduced. I'll have to re-read.

I think this was a very cleverly constructed story. As soon as it became apparent that a time loop was involved we started guessing who would turn out to be who. I'm sure plenty of us guessed right, but also guessed wrong lots of times as well. You've done corruption stories ain the past and what I think of as "affirming" stories in which an essentially good person has their wishes fulfilled. This was a corruption story framed as an affirming story which played on the structure of the previous Costumed stories to throw us off. Well done! I think I lean on the idea of Anna being amoral more than immoral, at least at the point she first transforms. She is selfish, but the sacrifices his friends make are not so serious and justified given their own behaviour. Anna threw Simon under a bus to escape bullying, but she wasn't the bully. Cowardly more than malevolent. Of course without a soul she could become far worse over time. My guess had been that Anna was Lillian who appeared at the start of Costumed 2 volume 2 and that Glib reclaimed the dagger at the end. But given Glib's passivity, it might have been Anna at the end as well. Given her twin powers of disguise and time travel she could be anyone and anywhere. I hope your not done with Costumed. I would like to see what Anna does next and  I would also like to catch up with Simone, Pen and Colleen (though it might be even more interesting to pick up with the next generation).

I loved this story. It was a great ride from start to finish and Jack/Anna is probably one of your most interesting characters to date. Though I do wish Jack and Anna could have had a sex scene there at the end to really hammer home their corruption.

Patrick Hunt

So Jack/Anna can shapeshift to whoever they desire to be. Would like to see an aftermath to be honest

Larry Talbot

Would have been cool to instead, stab the "older" Jack/Anna and or Glib and break the loop, freeing them all... and saving his/her soul.

The original Costume was meant to have a darker ending like this but I relented and made a happy ending for everyone. This time I really wanted to nail the "Dark" ending, and I'm glad that came through for you. As for Roseanna, that's a little easter egg relating to the five girls... they all have flower names ;)

Spiraling Shape Comics

I thought about adding more connective tissue to the previous Costumes, but felt 2 was too much like the original at the end of the day. As for the series continuing? This is it for the series as of now, but some characters may pop up sooner than you think :)

Spiraling Shape Comics

I thought about ending with a sex scene between the two, but felt it was best to have Jack rush to their new life as soon as they could :)

Spiraling Shape Comics

I won't lie, part of me thought about doing just that, but I folded on the last two by giving them happy endings and felt it was time to go full dark :)

Faye Fatale

That makes sense for the character but it does leave the ending feeling a bit abrupt. IMO, this story could use an epilog that sees Roseanna meeting Mason and her friends, or meeting and making the deal with Glib, or picking up in the aftermath of Jack going back in time. Something to bring the narrative full-circle. But that's just my personal opinion. I loved the story and hope the spooky Halloween stories continue next year.

Spiraling Shape Comics

I see what you're getting at, but I was aiming for an abrupt ending to keep everything dark and centered on Halloween night. I also didn't want to give Jack/Roseanna a "happy" ending, if that makes any sense :D

Cool. I like a bit of darkness now and then, although I also like some comeuppance. Horticulture is not my strong point.

I’m a big fan of corruption stories as I think it is fun to have an ending where the “bad guy” wins every so often. I do it in my stories. What wasn’t as clear to me was how exactly Jack got seduced and I wasn’t really clear why Anna would give up her soul. So Jack had fantasies and relented, gave in to them in exchange for his soul (which btw he seemed to give up without much thought to consequences?). Was that enough to corrupt him?? But what was Anna’s deal with Glib exactly? I must not have been reading closely enough. I love your creativity and the volume of it! Im so impressed at how much work you manage to put out for us to enjoy. Thank Trinity! -Alice
