Chapter 8
(A Week Later)
“Damn it.” A curse left my lips as I jumped from tree to tree as fast as I could forgetting all subtlety and only one heartbeat away from pulling out my wings to travel faster.
Every other second, I would glance to my hud to see my location on my Map skill and especially to the blue dot surrounded by 12 red dots ahead of me moving at a steady pace. ‘3 full squads huh?’
Seeing something red on the ground from the corner of my eyes I immediately came to a stop and jumped down quickly inspecting what it was.
‘Are you fucking serious? I thought this shit wouldn’t happen anymore considering that she’s alive in a different timeline.’ I thought in annoyance and anger before moving forward again following the trail of red hair.
It had been a week since my argument with Kushina and to my shame I hadn’t been able to properly apologize to her. It wasn’t for the lack of trying either.
Kushina, being the lovable yet stubborn redhead that she was, had been giving me the cold shoulder ever since our argument and every time I tried to apologize to her, she would suddenly find something else to do.
It was getting to the point where I was considering going the anime route and just going up to her and kissing her silly. At the end though, I always held beck since we were only 11 years old at the moment. Heck Kushina was not even 11 yet with her birthday coming up in a few days.
This went on for 6 straight days before Kushina was suddenly called for a mission with some other nameless Chunin from the village. Being the teenager that she was, Kushina hadn’t told me of course and to make it worse, even took off her earrings to make sure I wouldn’t follow her or so I thought.
Izumi then came up to me looking worried a few hours ago and told me that Kushina’s mission was taking longer than it should and she was starting to get worried.
Now wasting a single moment, I immediately used my Kamui to teleport outside the village after finding out that Kushina wasn’t wearing her earrings with my marker to immediately teleport to her location.
Which brings us to the here and now with me rapidly chasing after Kushina and her kidnappers.
‘This is what I get for getting too overconfident after becoming this strong in such a short time and now Kushina is paying for it. I knew from the beginning that others would target me. Why the fuck didn’t I master my Mangekyō abilities as soon as I could? With my Kamui I could have caught up to them already!’ I thought beyond angry at myself as I could only currently teleport to places, I had been before with my Kamui.
“FUCK!” I let out in a furious yell not even feeling the moment my EMS activated by itself.
‘If they did something to Kushina…’
Unbidden, dark thoughts invaded my mind with each one being worse than the last. This world was no longer an anime or a shonen manga where they mostly stayed away from the horrors of reality. And it was not hard to imagine what might happen to a young girl from an extinct clan with special chakra able to restrain even a Biju. In fact, one thought kept repeating over and over in my mind.
‘Stop! Just don’t think about it for now and focus on rescuing Kushina.’ Clearing my mind of all thoughts, I narrowed my eyes and pulled out my Katana before going even faster finally seeing Kushina just up ahead thanks to my Tenseigan.
‘Hang on Kushina. I’m here!’
=====
(Kushina’s POV)
‘I’m sorry Akari.’ Kushina thought sadly holding back her tears as she was dragged forward by the men in front of her. ‘I’m so sorry.’
Kushina was now deeply regretting ever getting into a stupid fight with the boy who had done so much for her and whom she had a huge crush on. She was not even really mad at him in the first place and just felt sad that he was taking on every problem by himself in an attempt to protect her and Izumi.
‘The one time I forget to put on my earrings, is the day that I end up getting ambushed and kidnapped. Good job Kushina, Akari probably thinks I hate him now for not caring about his present and breaking your prosmise.’ Kushina thought feeling even worse.
The truth was, Kushina loved those earrings and considered them extremely precious to her especially for what they represented. That Akari would always be there for her whenever she needed him no matter where she was in the world. It had meant a lot to her and was just one of the many reasons for her feelings for the boy.
In fact, Kushina would never leave home without them and would always wear them anywhere she went. The only time her earrings came off was when she took a shower. Even if Akari had bought that Time-Savers perk which made it to where they would always be feeling fresh and clean, Kushina still enjoyed taking showers as they were relaxing to her.
It was just her bad luck that in her hurry to leave home and avoid Akari, Kushina had completely forgotten her earrings in her nightstand. By the time she had realized she wasn’t wearing them, she was already far away from the village. Feeling bad about forgetting them, Kushina had decided that she was done avoiding Akari and as soon a she got back home she would finally speak to him.
Then everything went to hell.
After finishing her mission, Kushina and her teammates were heading back to the village when she sensed 12 big signatures quickly approaching her location. Kushina had just enough time to warn her teammates of the incoming danger before the enemies were upon her.
To her credit, Kushina had managed to take down 4 of her attackers whom she was sure had to be Jonin due to their skills before someone managed to sneak behind her and apply a seal on her restraining her movements. After that her kidnappers had quickly treated their downed comrades and applied a bunch of seals on her making her unable to use her chakra.
Then before even finding out what had happened to her teammates, Kushina had been roughly escorted way which brought her to her current situation.
All Kushina could do in such a situation was sneakily leave behind strands of her red hair that up until she had met Akari, hated that part of herself.
Kushina was suddenly forced to come to a stop before she run into her kidnappers as they had stopped in place with 2 of them looking behind them briefly before whispering something between themselves.
‘Sensors?’ Kushina thought with a raised eyebrow as she noticed the odd reaction and felt a candle of hope grow in her heart.
What happened next, would be something that Kushina would forever remember for the rest of her now immortal life. It was the moment that she finally understood that no matter what may come in the future, her heart would now and forever belong only to her savior.
=====
(Normal POV)
“Amaterasu!”
That was the only warning the group on the ground received before the 3 people in front Kushina were suddenly engulfed in black flames. Immediately following that the two people guarding the rear were bisected in half before turning to ash when they were cut by a katana also wreathed in black flames.
“I got you.” I whispered quietly in Kushina’s ear as I teleported behind her and hugged her around the waist with one hand before letting my aqua colored Susanoo manifest around us for the first time with it immediately taking a humanoid appearance.
“Eeek! A-Akari? I-Is that you?” Kushina let out a frightened yell before immediately relaxing upon hearing my voice.
“Sshhh, we can talk later.” I whispered back never taking off my eyes off the enemies in front of us who upon noticing my presence immediately surrounded us. I also noticed that they were not wearing any headbands or clothing that I could identify belonging to any village I knew about.
“I’m only going to ask this once.” I spoke clearly making sure they all heard me. “Who sent you?”
“An Uchiha. Thought they were all dead except for a pair of kids.” A man at the back spoke wearily appearing to be the leader. “We take him too.”
At that, 2 shinobi launched themselves at us while the others started going through hand seals letting out torrents of water, fire and lightning.
“Good, violence it is then.” I said with my anger from before returning tenfold and my Susanoo letting out a huge roar in response to my emotions and being shrouded in armor along with growing in size.
It was over in an instant.
Fueled by anger I tore through the remaining shinobi with ease until only the leader remained alive all the while I never removed my hand from around Kushina’s waist. Well not that I could as she had taken to hugging me around the neck quite tightly and didn’t seem ready to let go anytime soon.
“Now. Who. Sent. You!?” I said pronouncing each word slowly as I brought the remaining shinobi close to my face with one of the arms of my Susanoo keeping a tight grip on the man.
“Gghhk, I-I’ll ne-”
He never got to finish as tired of looking at his face any longer, I cast a Tsukuyomi on him. Once in my jutsu I took my sweet time torturing the information out of the man until I finally got the answers I wanted.
‘Kumo huh? More specifically the Raikage.’ I thought silently letting the jutsu drop and turning the man to ash with my Black Flame skill to get rid of any evidence. ‘How did they know that Kushina would be here though? They were clearly waiting for her specifically.’
Finally letting my Susanoo fade away I landed gently on the ground with a blank look on my face not letting my true feelings show as I didn’t want Kushina to worry even more after just coming out of this ordeal.
‘Danzo or Orochimaru? Those are the only people I know with the ability to pull that off. Fuck!’ I thought in frustration before my thoughts came to a halt as I felt Kushina cup my cheek bringing me out of my thoughts.
Looking down, I was finally able to properly take a good look at her and felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders when I noticed that other than a few scrapes and bruises, Kushina seemed okay.
“I-I’m sorry Akari ‘sniff’.” Kushina suddenly let out a sniff as tears slowly ran down her face. “I’m so sorry for ignoring you all this time and not wearing my earrings like I promised.”
“Sshhh it’s okay Kushina.” I gently put my finger over her lips stopping her from going on a rant as she was known to do in tense situations. “All that matters is that you’re okay now and nothing happened…right?” I finished looking at Kushina nervously and removing my finger.
“Mmn, I’m okay now thanks to you.” Kushina nodded her head once as she buried her hear into my chest again. “And don’t worry, nothing happened to me.”
“Hah thank goodness.” I said feeling my shoulders slump in relief before straightening up a moment later and jumping to the nearest tree. “Let’s get out of here.”
“Akari…” Kushina whispered making me look down at her again only to widen my eyes as I felt her lips meet mine for a moment before retreating and retaking her spot. “Thanks~”
“Y-your welcome.” I responded automatically still feeling shocked at her sudden action. ‘This is technically my first kiss huh?’ I absentmindedly thought for a moment before shaking my head of such thoughts and got ready to leave.
Just as I was about to use my Kamui to get us back home, I paused as I sensed a few chakra signatures closing in on our location just in range of my sensing abilities.
‘Reinforcements?’ I thought looking back for a moment.
“Is there something wrong?” Kushina asked as she looked up at me with worry in her eyes.
Looking down at her, I gave her a smile and shook my head. “No, nothing. I just forgot to clear the area of any evidence. Don’t worry, I’ll just leave some of my clones to it.”
Kushina blinked in thought before nodding her head in understanding and then went back to snuggling in my arms. “M’kay.”
Concentrating for a moment, 3 wood clones appeared behind me and gave me a serious nod before jumping away to deal with whoever was coming.
‘I need to get stronger. What happened tonight will not happen again.’ That was my last thought before teleporting back home to a relieved Izumi.
=====
(Days Later)
It had been Danzo.
My clones had found Yamanaka Fu and Aburame Torune along with a few other Root agents moving rapidly to the location of our battle. After killing the extras along with Stamping Fu and Torune, I had thrown them to my Kamui dimension until their captures completed before finally questioning them.
They had been sent on a mission to intercept the shinobi from Kumo and killing them before taking Kushina along with them and making sure to setup enough evidence so Kumo would take the blame for the incident. They would then escort Kushina back to Konoha and bring her directly to Danzo.
That was all I was able to gain from them before selling them.
That one-eyed bastard probably wanted a tool to control the Kyuubi in the future and with Kushina’s special chakra she was the perfect host to house the beast. Then with the use of Kotoamatsumaki, Danzo would hypnotize her to be blindingly loyal to him and him alone.
Those were my thoughts anyway as I had no way of knowing if that was true or not unless I confronted Danzo directly.
Of course, the old fuck didn’t know about Kushina already being immune to all mind-altering affects thanks to Mind Defense so that plan even if it succeeded would only end up blowing up in his face.
The only question I had with that was what did he plan to do with Naruto, whom I confirmed was still a Jinchuuriki in this world?
“Is this it?”
Looking up I noticed a castle appear out of the mist and stopped before turning to Izumi who had chosen to accompany me tonight. “Wait here, should only take a moment.”
Receiving a nod in response, I created a wood clone and had it stay back with Izumi before going ahead thankful that she had not commented on the clone.
Since rescuing Kushina and explaining to them what I had learned of the attempted kidnapping, I had not felt comfortable leaving them out of my sight due to paranoia. Even now I had 10 clones back home guarding Kushina who like Izumi thankfully had not said anything about my current behavior.
We had been forced to report the situation to the Hokage since it had involved 2 other Chunin who I had found the bodies of later that night. Of course, we kept the fact that Danzo was involved out of the report as I didn’t want that old fuck to realize I was onto him.
The Hokage while angry, had not really done anything about Kumo other than sending a few Jonin to the borders to see if there was any activity. While disappointed, I was not really surprised at his passive response as the man had not done anything with the attempted Hyuga kidnapping years back either.
After that I resolved that I needed to up my training along with mastering all of my current abilities and here in the Ninja world there was one clear avenue to power.
Becoming a Jinchuuriki.
For that though I first wanted to master my Hashirama Template to be on the safe side meaning I needed to learn and master Senjutsu. Luckily for me there was a shortcut to this if I completed an Additional Objective on the Uchiha’s Resurgence mission that required me to sign a Summoning Contract. I would be rewarded with Perfect Sage Mode, added talent for Senjutsu and two additional chakra affinities.
Which is why we were currently here in this forest late at night.
I was finally going to get my hands on my own Summoning Contract after searching my memories and remembering a useless filler episode I had watched. There should be a chameleon summon here named Shiromari that once belonged to a guy named Koza Kubisake free for the taking.
Minutes later the castle disappeared as if it was never there and I walked back towards Izumi with Shiromari’s Summoning Scroll held in my left hand.
“You know… Now that I think about it, I believe the Uchiha Clan has a few summoning scrolls that we could sign if I’m remembering correctly.” Izumi commented casually with a hand on her chin and looking up in thought.
Hearing that I stopped in my tracks and looked at her blankly for a moment before opening my mouth. “Why are you telling me this now when you’ve known I’ve been looking for one for years now?” I asked in a deadpan.
Izumi suddenly gained a cute blush on her face as she closed her eyes and sheepishly rubbed the back of her head while laughing nervously.
“Teehee… I forgot.”
Unable to stop my brow from twitching I silently stored the scroll in my inventory and walked up to Izumi in a slow pace all the while my face never changed.
“Umm… Akari? That’s quite a scary face you’re making there. You wouldn’t really harm your childhood friend, right?” Izumi asked nervously as she slowly backed away.
“…”
“Akari?”
“…”
“Seriously Akari. You’re freaking me out.” Izumi said with nervous sweat now rolling down her head.
When I finally reached her, I raised my hands menacingly making Izumi flinch before…
Grabbing her sides and tickling her mercilessly.
“KYAAAAHAHAHA!”
