Chapter 29
‘At this point, I should really take all incoming canon events with a grain of salt.’ I thought silently seeing another change to the timeline happening before my eyes with Tsunade and Orochimaru’s meeting happening much earlier than I recalled.
“This is the third time we’ve met now Orochimaru and I gotta say, I’m starting to get really tired of looking at your face.” I addressed the man standing at the back ignoring Kabuto for now.
“I’m sorry to say that I don’t feel the same Akari-kun.” Orochimaru laughed with a painful grimace before turning to Kabuto who had retreated to his side. “We’re retreating, Kabuto.”
“Hai, Orochimaru-sama.” With one last look in my direction, Kabuto slightly lowered his head at me in respect, an act that went unnoticed by everyone else before he and Orochimaru disappeared.
‘Nice to see Izumi’s mission went off without a hitch.’ I thought silently, noticing the way Kabuto reacted to me ever since catching sight of me.
Shaking those thoughts off my head for now, I walked towards the downed Shizune in the ground and offered her a smile.
“Shizune, right?” I asked getting down on one knee and inspected her injuries, finding her Achilles tendons and wrists had been severed. “Please remain still while I heal you.”
“T-thank you.” Shizune said letting out a relieved sigh and slumping her shoulders a bit now looking more relaxed. “How did you find us though?”
“I was actually looking for you two for about a day now but had to be discreet about it so those old geezers back home wouldn’t get on my case about it.” I explained briefly without really explaining anything leaving Shizune blinking in confusion.
“I’m sorry, what?”
“And why have you been looking for us?” Tsunade asked, suddenly joining our conversation and getting to work on healing Shizune’s arms while I worked on her legs.
“Haha I thought that would be obvious ‘Aunty’.” I teased watching in amusement as Tsunade’s eyebrow twitched in annoyance.
“And that is?”
Finishing healing Shizune, I got back on my feet ignoring the impressed looks I discreetly got from the two healers and struck a heroic pose with my hands on my hips and a huge grin on my face. “To bring you back to the village and make you the Hokage so I won’t have to, of course.” I said proudly.
“Hah?”
=====
(A While Later)
“Phuaaa! Nothing beats an afternoon drink! Especially when its free~”
“Tsunade-sama! Are you sure you should be drinking right now?”
“Maa, maa~ Calm down Shizune. Serious talks like these are better had after you’ve had a few drinks.”
‘Wow, this is kind of pathetic if I’m being honest.’ I thought letting out a small sigh watching Tsunade chug down a sake bottle like it was nothing as I sat across from her and Shizune at the nearest restaurant I managed to find.
‘I only had to mention the words free drinks and she did a complete 180, going from shocked and cautious about my reason for being here, to happy and trusting.’ Taking a small sip of my own cup, I frowned at the taste but chugged it down anyways never being too fond of alcohol in both my lives, besides with Addiction Defense this was pretty much just bad tasting water to me.
“That’s the spirit brat! Though…aren’t you a bit too young to drink?”
Tsunade said with a grin on her face having caught sight of what I did before frowning a moment later when she remembered my age.
“Meh, I’ve never had sake before. Wanted to see if there was anything special about it.” I said with a shrug putting my cup down and sliding the rest to Tsunade. “As I thought, tastes just like any other type of alcohol. Like piss.”
“Che, like a brat like you would know anything about alcohol.” Tsunade clicked her tongue in annoyance obviously not believing a word I said but chugging down the rest of my cup anyways looking somewhat pleased at my answer.
“Have you been practicing medical ninjutsu for long Akari-kun?” Shizune suddenly chimed in looking at me with a soft smile on her face. “That was some impressive healing back there, you managed to heal my tendons much faster than I would have.”
“Hmm about 5 years or so I would say.” I answered automatically without really thinking about it. “Most of my time after awakening my bloodline, I spent learning ninjutsu and fuinjutsu.”
“Hmph, typical boy.” Tsunade muttered under her breath but went ignored by both of us as we continued our discussion.
We spent the next few minutes discussing various topics including my time at the Academy, my teammates and my own team all the while Tsunade silently listened in seeming content to just listen for now.
“That’s amazing Akari-kun. To have accomplished so much while still being so young, I’m sure your parents would have been proud of you.” Shizune congratulated me with a tender smiler on her face.
“Thank you for your kind words, Shizune-san.” I thanked the woman with a small nod of my head hiding the small irritation I felt for the woman since she was treating me like a child but appreciating her words nonetheless.
“Now what’s all this nonsense about taking me back to Konoha to become its next Hokage about?” Tsunade finally asked rejoining the conversation.
Turning to the woman I absently noticed that she had already put away 3 bottles of sake while we were talking.
“Exactly as it sounds like. The Fire Daimyo (Lord), the Council of Konoha and most of the shinobi back home want me to take the mantle as the next Hokage but I refused and suggested your name in my place and here I am.” I explained a bit more to the causing Tsunade to frown and Shizune to look at her teacher nervously as if waiting for something.
“You…don’t want to be Hokage?” Tsunade asked eventually after remaining quiet for a few minutes.
“Not a chance in hell.” I responded immediately with a scowl now on my face taking the two women aback at the sharp tone in my voice.
“What kind of idiot would want to be confined to the village for the majority of their rule all the while dealing with endless amounts of paperwork, being forced to play nice with people you may hate and most important of all…”
Here my face took on a slightly dark look thinking about the main reason I completely refused with all my heart to become the Hokage.
“Putting the village’s happiness and safety over that of your own family or loved ones.” I finished coldly
My answer caused Shizune to flinch and turn her head away awkwardly while Tsunade to her side just remained silent and stared at me without saying anything for a bit.
“Heh, those words could be considered treason you know?” Tsunade asked with a small smirk growing on her flushed face.
Losing my previous expression at her question and especially at the feelings of approval I felt coming from the woman, I let a smirk of my own grow on my face as I rested a hand on the table and leaned my cheek against the back of my hand.
“The same could be said about you, ‘Auntie’. You didn’t immediately attack Orochimaru during your chat with him after he informed you of having killed the third Hokage and even debated on whether you should help him or not.” I revealed never losing my smirk.
“So, you were already watching by then.” Tsunade said clicking her tongue in annoyance.
“However, getting back to your original reason for being here. What makes you think I’ll just accept being the next Hokage when you should already know that just like you, I despise that position?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.
“I’m not asking you to do this for free of course.” I said with an innocent smile on my face knowing that would get her attention.
“Are you trying to bribe me brat?” Tsunade asked in amusement with her other eyebrow raising as well.
“Sure am.” I admitted shamelessly.
“Tsunade-sama! You can’t possibly be thinking-”
Shizune was interrupted by Tsunade who raised a hand in her direction signaling her to stop talking which Shizune reluctantly agreed to.
“Well…Let’s hear it then brat? What could you possibly offer me for me to even contemplate taking such a shitty position?”
“I’m willing to offer you three things.” I said raising three fingers for the women to see. “First is that I would pay off all the debt you have accumulated over the years.”
“Hmm good start, go on.” Tsunade said waving a hand in my direction asking me to continue.
“Second, I would be willing to turn back the clock for you and make you truly young again so you don’t have to resort to that useless Genjutsu you have on now. Based on how you look now, I would say that you desperately need it.” I said activating my Sharingan for a moment and making a show of looking her up and down to prove my point.
‘Yikes, talk about not looking your age.’ I thought silently seeing all the wrinkles on the woman’s face due to her over-usage of her Creation Rebirth technique.
“Tsk, cheeky brat. You’re lucky we’re family or I would have pulverized your smug looking face into the ground for that.” Tsunade said with a scowl on her face and turning to the side in annoyance not liking being reminded of her age.
“Wait! You can truly make her young again!?”
Ignoring the surprised look coming from Shizune I took on a deep breath and slowly released it before continuing. “My last offer might seem impossible but rest assured that I speak the truth.”
Seeing that I was serious Tsunade refocused her attention back on myself now looking at me with slightly narrowed eyes.
“Before I get too ahead of myself though,” Looking at the blonde in the eyes, I allowed my Rinnegan to appear again thanks to Toggle and continued. “Tell me Tsunade, do you know the meaning of these eyes?”
“I-I’ve never seen eyes like that before…Do you know what they are Tsunade-sama?” Shizune muttered to herself with a curious look on her face.
“Hmm…the Rinnegan. There are mentions of it in old scrolls that I read when I was a child and for a time, I believed them to be nothing more than an old legend. That is of course until Jiraiya took on a pair of orphans with one of them possessing such eyes. To think they would resurface again within my lifetime.” Tsunade explained to Shizune all the while never looking away from my eyes, slowly inspecting them.
“Another Rinnegan user. That…is impossible.” I said with a shake of my head taking them out of their musings deciding to be honest with them.
“Are you calling me a liar?” Tsunade asked with a frown.
“Of course not.” I said with a shake of my head causing Tsunade to relax again. “What I mean is, attaining the Rinnegan requires very specific circumstances to all happen which I doubt that was the case if that person was an orphan.”
“What do you mean?” Tsunade asked curiously now looking interested in the conversation along with Shizune to her side.
“Before I get to that allow me to ask you a final question.” Seeing her nod, I continued. “What do you know about the origins of the Senju Clan?”
Blinking at my question, Tsunade grabbed her chin in thought trying to recall if she knew anything before turning to me again. “Are you talking about the rumors that the Senju Clan are direct descendants of the Sage of Six Paths?”
“Those are not rumors. You see…”
I then spent the next few minutes explaining to the two women the history of the Sage of Six Paths along with that of his sons and how one went about attaining the Rinnegan. When I was done, I sat back and watched as Tsunade and Shizune took in everything I had said with thoughtful looks on their faces.
“I see. So that’s what you meant by a random orphan awakening the Rinnegan being close to impossible. Meaning…”
“Meaning that either the kid has both Uchiha and Senju/Uzumaki blood or more realistically, that the Rinnegan never belonged to him in the first place.” I finished Tsunade’s train of thought.
Tsunade nodded her head in agreement still looking deep in thought before suddenly letting out a sigh. “Haah while all of what you said was rather interesting, I still fail to see how the Rinnegan has anything to do with your third favor.”
“It has everything to do with it, Aunty. You see, the Rinnegan grants its users a certain control over life and death.” I finally revealed not missing the way their eyes widened a bit at that.
“My last offer is to bring your younger brother, my uncle, Nawaki back from the dead and giving him a new lease on life.” I offered feeling a bit bad about playing this card but going through with it regardless.
Tsunade was someone I really wanted to join us on our adventures and while she may hate me for playing dirty with her brother’s life like that, I was willing to bear it knowing how much it would mean to her to have her brother back in her life.
As to the reason I never even mentioned also reviving Dan Kato, Tsunade’s old lover? Well, that man no longer existed in this world.
Knowing in advance that I wanted Tsunade, I had used Edo Tensei on the man before stamping him and selling him. Then with the effects of Gone and Forgotten, there was nobody alive that even remembered his name anymore.
Seeing the way that Tsunade had suddenly gone completely still with wide eyes, I knew that I had managed to win her over to my side forever with this stunt.
=====
(Week Later, Demiplane)
Things were progressing along rather fast since the war with Suna/Sound had ended that I often found myself with very little time to myself nowadays. Especially with all the duties I had been forced to take over as interim Hokage until Tsunade finally returned.
Speaking of the blonde, after threatening me with bodily harm in case I was lying to her, Tsunade had finally agreed to become the next Hokage for the next 2 years until someone, Kakashi most likely, was ready to take over for her.
Last I heard they were finally heading back to the village after Jiraiya and Naruto managed to find them a few days ago so they were expected to arrive any day now.
Today though I was finally going to do something I had been meaning to do for a while now hence the reason I found myself back in my Demiplane in an empty clearing.
“Hoh? Did you finally manage to make some time for us Akari?” I heard a seductive female voice ask in my mind.
“Kuwahahaha it was not too bad Sister. Akari kept us entertained with his sacred texts. Speaking of that. Akari! I finished the last volume and am ready for the new one.” A different voice spoke next, this one sounding distinctly male.
“Tsk, speak for yourself idiot.”
“Sorry about that, Velgrynd, Veldora. It’s been a crazy month.” I apologized sincerely while scratching the back of my head. “I’m ready now though.”
“Hmph, about time.” Velgrynd, the Scorch Dragon, muttered somewhat grumpily yet sounding happy nonetheless.
“It will be good to finally stretch my wings again.” Veldora, the Storm Dragon, said in joy letting out his iconic 3-stage laugh.
Now, just how did I come about at acquiring 2 tier 10 beings at the same time you ask?
You see it all came down to the powers Rimuru acquired as a True Dragon enabling him to summon either Veldora or Velgrynd anytime he wishes in the form of a skill. A skill I had obtained upon my evolution and something I had been hoping for ever since reincarnating in this world in Rimuru’s body.
At the time I was not sure if just evolving into a True Dragon myself would allow me the ability to summon them but I’m beyond happy that my theory had proven true. Now I had two incredibly powerful beings that were loyal to me in my group with one of them being a sexy blue haired dragon lady which was just the cherry on top if I was being honest.
“Right, here goes.” I said making two Enhanced Body Doubles appear in front of me and with the help of Ciel establishing a Soul Corridor with both of them.
A moment later the figure of Velgrynd and Veldora appeared in front of me both sporting almost matching smirks on their faces.
“Welcome to your new home Velgrynd, Veldora.” I greeted the two with a smile on my face. “How would you two feel about hunting down the Gods of this world?”
