The energy can only be described as "joyously unhinged" as Ali and Carly talk about Lord of the Rings in the same room! That's right, it's the first episode of "Talkin' About" to ever be recorded in person, and these two notoriously repressed women are finally cutting loose.  Memories are recovered! Ships are discussed! Shadowfax is put in his place! Yet all the while, Ali's goosebumps are nowhere to be found. Grab this wild stallion of an episode the way Legolas would (by the neck, parkour into the saddle) and not the way Aragorn would (arm strap stuck in Warg saddle, gets dragged off a cliff).

I gotta roll a big two paper joint for this. God bless these repressed women.

This episode really captures the giddy energy of being back in a room with best friends again post-vax, and I love it

I will now be referring to all femboys as Sephiroth.

These films used to be a huge sore spot for me when I was younger, in Middle School/High School my parents would literally buy tickets for this film every weekend it was in theaters and dump me off there and expect me to watch it every weekend at least twice. I grew to loathe the films because of that because I literally saw them at least 20 times in theaters each hahaha. Nowadays I'm good! Time helped!

Dang! Carly name dropping Record of Lodoss War was such a nostalgia hit. It was also my first introduction into high fantasy.

Apropos of nothing, the Lord of the Rings is a high-school era core memory for me because on the rare occasion I *made out with someone* (nice!) it was usually with one of the extended editions in the background. And whenever I share this, inevitably I am not the only one who has such a memory. Why is LotR the perfect make out movie???

Omfg I was so mad when y’all tried to move on to Two Towers without even mentioning Boromir. Full redemption though, well done. I literally sighed audibly in relief.

I love these deep dives y'all are doing in various configurations.

Not to hate on LoTR, but I would rather listen back to Rude Tales for a fourth time than watch those movies. Honestly, for me personally, Rude Tales IS my LoTR.

fartghost

would love an ep just about y'all's friendship, it's like an epi-pen full of serotonin for me rn
