Sura WIPs (Patreon)

I've not had much motivation and so settled on something that sounds simple but is a lot harder in practice, or at least for me. I'd used the Zorn palette for much warmer colors in character portraits but wanted to see how far I could push the cooler tones. The palette is simple but versatile and pretty powerful, and keeping in mind the idea of color in context for her usual olive drab shirt. Even though the Zorn palette doesn't have anything that looks outright green (it's ivory black, titanium white, yellow ochre, and cadmium red) it can still produce colors that read as such because of how it's used and what's around it. Also because of how much more intensive this portrait was to paint there are more WIPs than the ones made prior. Sadly it stays in the ugly phase for a pretty long time, but hopefully it looks better by the end.
