some tails (Patreon)

Trying to sleep a couple nights ago and was thinking about how to paint tails in Rebelle, specifically fluffy ones. In most software I feel like I'm working against how the program wants to work and tools meant to just "do the thing" for me end up looking cheap/bad, but since Rebelle works closer to how traditional media works I wanted to try that out.
I wanted to try a squirrel tail to serve as an example of low hair density because you can generally clearly see how the color changes down the hair shaft, making the edges of the tail form appear much lighter than the rest of it. Fur like this doesn't lay flat and I want to keep that in mind as I paint areas where the hair shafts are directed more perpendicular to the viewer (by the tail base here).
For high hair density I used a fox tail, because of course. With higher density you tend to not see much of the change in hair shaft color (if there is one) because the fur is simply too thick/dense unless you look much more closely or do something to deliberately expose it. For this case I was more interested in trying to show direction of the fur down the form of the tail and keeping in mind how changes in form/direction will impact how the fur appears to the viewer.
Sorry this isn't anything super interesting - just a bit of practice - but I thought you might like to see it anyway. I should hopefully be over this sinus infection by tomorrow as I'm just dealing with the lingering congestion and slight heavy-headed feeling so far today.
