Hey all!

We're here with this month's free Foundry 5e MADventure!

The Odd Sea is a fifth-edition adventure for three to five characters of 5th to 7th level and is optimized for four characters with an average party level (APL) of 7. As with all of our recent MADventures, The Odd Sea has been designed to insert into an existing campaign as an independent side adventure with a few simple renames.

Unsurprisingly, the Odd Sea draws heavily on Homer's Odyssey, and contains many references and parallels to that historical work. Additionally, we wanted to use some of our more outlandish and high-fantasy planar maps, whilst providing plot hooks and entry points to the adventure that still allow it work as a side quest in a more grounded fantasy campaign.

"Decades ago, the famed astral explorer Odyss Vane vanished during his long journey home aboard his vessel, the Ithaca. Odyss had left his wife, Penny, and young son, Tel, to fight in a distant conflict that threatened his homeland. After the war, he began the voyage home, but stories of the fabled artefacts known as the Hero's Panoply drew him into a succession of detours. Odyss’s wandering finally ended after he and his crew onboard their ship the Ithaca recovered the Golden Sun, an ancient astral map believed to reveal the route to these artefacts. Nothing was seen or heard of Odyss ever since.

Now Zhomer, an eccentric astral bard and collector of spacer tales, has spent years assembling the scattered stories of Odyss's voyage into an epic account called Zhomer's Odyssey. A new lead offers a chance to retrace the route, find the lost Ithaca, and discover what really happened."

The Odd Sea includes:

The adventure provides 3 different hooks, which allow your group to encounter and interact with the adventure in very different ways depending on the sort of party you have.

Regardless of the hook used, eventually the characters find themselves arriving at the Wildspacer's Guild Hall. Here, after taking refreshment and meeting some eccentric characters with historic counterparts, they are enlisted by one Tel Vane - son of the missing legendary hero Odyss Vane - on a lucrative quest to locate his father's ship.

Having set sail on the Wayward Wind, the group follow the directions provided to them by Tel Vane, but first find themselves encountering Godfall - an enormous drifting island of some impossibly large slain entity. Here, amongst the bone trees and the hypnotic pools of divine lotus blood from the slain creature, they find Pol - a one-eyed brute who tends to his astral goats on the island and devours any trespassers.

Having dispatched Pol and encountered his sole prisoner, one Noman Silver who claims to have been the cook aboard the Ithaca, the group continue on their way until they finally arrive at the lost and wrecked astral vessel. Here is where the dungeon crawl begins - as the group navigate four decks of a long-abandoned vessel, dealing with the creatures who have made it their home in the decades since, whilst trying to piece together the mystery of what wrecked the Ithaca and what happened to Odyss Vane.
