2018 Goals (Patreon)

I wanted to let you know about a few things that have happened to Step Back, and give you some idea about what I want to do in 2018.

First of all, the video that comes out on the 14th isn't being made in the Youtube Space. I will animate it old school style, and finish the Columbus series once and for all!

I also want to happily say that I was a recipient of the VlogBothers grant for educational creators. You can hear more about it here. With the money I received, I was able to purchase a year of storyblocks which gives me royalty free video clips to use in videos, and I commissioned new channel graphics you can see on the channel now and in my next video forward.

That only used about a third of my money, so I am thinking of using the rest to buy a nice camera. My streams have been really successful, and the video I released on Monday seemed to perform really well.

I am thinking of purchasing a camera and recording a talking head video for Mondays akin to Wisecrack's Quick Takes, all of Matt Colville's videos, or Cypher's Diatribes. The idea would be to do topics that don't require the information dense scripts I make on Thursdays, and talk more as a historian about things going on in the world, or the work a Historian does. This will mean more stuff in your feed, and bringing more people into History by capitalizing on trends and growing the channel's base. You guys are very important to me, so I would really like to hear your thoughts are about this.

I hope to try and maintain my current schedule, iterate on my video making skills, and presentation, as well as try to find a way to make on average two videos a week. Wish me luck.

PS: I recently joined in a Twitch and Youtube streamed D&D campaign where I play every Wednesday night as a Karate Dwarf. Here's a link to my first episode and watch that channel to see more or catch it live.
